Public transport isn't exactly cheap....and don't forget you still have to pay for parking to park your car at train stations, unless your house is like next to the station.

Won't save much if you still need a car for weekends usages and you definitely need to pay for the hire purchase loan. Different from sg, HK where you can fully rely on public transport.

Well, for those with families or going out in a group, a car is more convenient for weekend activities than the public transit. Then on the average working day, the parents will use the latter to go to work (and children once they reach schooling age to go to school).

I have yet to see public transit offering a travel package for families.
