From the graph can see that their speed is not stable. The penalty is so expensive because they know you dun have the money to pay the penalty, then you tak akan lari. Haha

Do screenshots of speedtest, ask maxis for waiver, they not willing, write to mcmc with the screenshots. Then mcmc will take action. Maxis like that is fake advertising already.

The term is still best effort when you signed agreement. It does not specify the min speed. They oversell their services.

Best effort is best effort, but if can't even surf properly, it means their issue which they need to resolve if proven other providers can access the site properly. Cfm and mcmc will take care of these. If still continue like that can ask for termination without penalty.

their best effort only applies to connection back to maxis. Same like unifi. If your speed is slow to other countries or using different speedtest tool, they are not responsible.

So if you have proof that speedtest using their tools is slow then can complain to MCMC. Best effort doesn't means can get away with appalling service. Best if you have many screenshot of the speedtest during different hours.

You can even try cancelling the contract by telling them you are not satisfied with their service. Tell them you are not going to pay them any penalty cause they never provided you with any decent service. I think someone from their "special customer service" section will call you.

Are you using wifi(2.4ghz) to test?

Those results may not be accurate.
Using asus rt ac68u with cloudcheck service, can get 10 mbps up and down from wan. I do agree that maxis/astro iptv customers service isn't good, they said that 3rd party routers aren't compactible when I got the 3rd party router working with manual settings since asus didn't officially surport astro iptv at the moment.

OK, may i know what fiber backbone is at your area? Is the line from tm or maxis?

Update :If it's maxis fiber backbone then you won't able to get internet /iptv service as it supposed to be a 2 digit number. If it's tm backbone then be sure to enter correct vlan and plug in the astro to lan 4.

Then, I plug in the blue colour RJ45 CABLE from my TM ONU to the first port. And plug in the yellow RJ45 CABLE for my Maxis Thomson router. Grey colour RJ45 CABLE will go to my TP-LINK router.

Now, I setup the TP-Link router with all port tagged with 621 for internet connection purposes only. The router is now assigned with one public IP. And I can surf the internet smoothly.

Then now, I connect my Maxis Thomson router with the Yellow RJ45 CABLE without changing anything as I can't login into the Thomson router even if I reboot it or login with my Administrator account or MaxisBB account. Already complaint to Maxis but looks like they ignored it, replying me shits.

Guess what, everything works perfectly. So bassically, the TP-Link router will only supply Internet service and the Maxis Thomson router will only supply IPTV service.

Hi,

I'm facing the same problem too, but with a TP-Link Access Point. After connecting the AP to Maxis Router, Astro would not work after awhile.

Are there any other setting that you made to your TM router aside from disabling DHCP? Would a normal switch do the same work?

Thanks.

Any idea why would a switch be required? The AP cannot be connected direct to Maxis Router?

If you want to connect ot to Maxis router, it makes no difference. You are still under Maxis Router. The reason ppl buy custom router is bcs they dont want to use the crappy router that Maxis provided. Not to tell you that, there are 2 more accounts which has higher rank level than the Administrator Account you have, and they are monitoring your activities. I hate ppl to stalk me.

I'm on unifi 10mbps rm199 package. Haven't upgrade to 30mbps yet.

Juz want to ask. Is it worth to switch to Maxis Fibre 10mbps? I saw the price is cheaper and i'm a Maxis One subscriber so got promo.

For me, to switch, i would want a stable, reliable, and problem free network for home usage. Only me and wifey are using it and occassionally, family comes along and stay at our house n use it too.

So is it worth to switch? Juz dont want to face any pblms if change. Later, regret and cannot get out of contract. Any advise appreciated. Tq

Maxis is more expensive than UniFi but, I dont encounter any issues about slow speed on fb, youtube and high ping on Asia game server. If in terms on quality Maxis won but if in terms on pricing, UniFi won. If you feel quality is the most important thing then you just go for it.

Thanks for both of ur replies. I'm quite surprised that both u say unifi much cheaper. Is it becoz i have looked at d promo price 4 maxis fibre 4 maxis one plan user (10mbps for rm128) n i think maxis is cheaper? 4 me, i hope that if i use maxis, the quality, speed and also stability is as gud as my unifi 10mbps rite now.

Is Maxis bad?

From Worse to worse?

Heard many from Maxis but not from Unifi. Unifi under TM and Maxis also under TM.
*
Actually, for Maxis Fibre subscribers in areas using TM infrastructure (yes, there are areas where Maxis owns the infrastructure like in some parts of Puchong), their connection from their home/office router still goes to Maxis router at Layer 3 (Internet Layer), but in between both routers, at Layer 2 & Layer 1 (Data Link & Physical Layers), are using TM's switches & cables.

So, it is not right to say Maxis is under TM. But Maxis provides their service using TM's infrastructure (in most places) for the last mile connection.

Well, while you wait for public ip, you can try Xunlei. Xunlei uses port 80 which is open by default for web. No need port forwarding.

Can get full 10mbps. However if I download too much, it will stuck at 200kB/s. Restarting the router to get a new ip will solve it. Not sure router lousy or maxis monitoring my usage.

1) You can request it on FB. Their call center sucks.
2) Since you are on private IP, you cant do any port forwarding.
3) Their router isnt that good. I bought my own router. Are you using wifi or lan connection?

I guess you must be staying at Kenanga? I have friends who stay there and from them I knew the Maxis Fibre only came in last year. Given your area is under Maxis, there is no way TM will come in. Unless of course you can convince your condo management to talk to TIME to provide service.

funny. I received a call from their CS today, and they are talking about my existing ancient 1mbps package. And then talked bout Unifi, then they want to offer me 10mpbs package. I really thought its Unifi opening new package, after they email me the details only realize its Maxis LOL.

Is Maxis Home Fibre really that bad? I am really thinking to switch my ancient 1mpbs streamyx but I dont need 30mbps speed (Unifi) which is a little too expensive for me. RM 160+ gst inclusive is perfect for me.

Technically no. He just talked bout my existing 1mbps streamyx, and then if i m signed up with Unifi.

Then i told him now unifi too expensive and 30mbps is overkill for my hse personal use. Then he say can offer me 10mbps at RM 149 before gst. Then i told him my streamyx now comes with free fixed line rental, whether his package can offer the same waiver. Then he say no phone rental expenses. So i really thought he is from TM. LOL

and so on, we never talked about where he is from.

Until he emailed me the information and i saw Maxis.

Most likely i wont sign up, since i see so many negative feedbacks

Well, better go for UniFi if you want something faster. Maxis Fiber is unstable and lots of issues, at least based on my experience using it at wifi hotspots in cafes.

Maxis is full of shit. Call me up at 0122019294 and say got offer for home fiber broadband 10MB at RM148/= for my area Kapar Indah, Klg and I think about. Today I call 123 to Maxis to inquire about the fiber broadband because I use MaxisOne 98 and according to their web side got discount RM20/= so can get RM128/= but contract 2 years. Immediately they check and say my area not cover saying no port. So why you call me to offer at RM148/= when you already have my home address and know there is no port for my hse area. Nothing better to do or just because I ask about the RM128/= offer for MaxisOne package straight away say not coverage. Maxis is a big company but with lousy std when coming to cheat their loyal customer for peanut. Don't waste ppl time when you can't offer peanut package for your loyal customer.

i just upgraded from 10 to 20mbps with their promo but realized it never got to 2MBps. I have to use IDM to bring it to full speed.

Bump.....

A resounding YES. Maxis SUCKS.

Their Home Fiber also SUCKS.

Speed not stable. I lost count how many times the speed drops and it goes very slow for intermittent periods of time on a DAILY basis.

Try using your Wi Fi and play online game on your phone. You will lose many times because of your unstable speed.

What sucks is the Maxis guys all keep LYING to say Maxis speed "very stable one...."

Big liars.

But I am sure that TM Unifi also SUCKS......

YES, I kind of agreeing on what you said. Every time when I tell Maxis that my speed is slow, they will throw the blame to TM or your router. After changing so many routers and asking TM to check my Fiber port, it is still the same. Even TM just fed up with their annoying nonsense. UniFi is bad too but it is a little better than Maxis. Overall, I think my phone data is still the best.

i am currently on maxis + astro joint package and i am also using maxis One package RM188 (due to sub line)
I am wondering whether I can cancel my astro and switch to Njoi, then use my Maxis One package to get discounted maxis broadband. is it worth it?

I am usually only at home at night & weekend (occasionally play dota). seldom use home broadband. astro pun just watch AEC, AXN, sometimes some other movies nia.

i have issue using maxis broadband on my iphone while facebooking, in the end i just use 4G, better speed compare to maxis broadband. but using maxis broadband on my PC is ok... dota also no problem (maybe there is, thats why i always lose. lol)

Good luck bro. Previously I applied for Unifi first and then they say port full. Make demand list and nothing happen. Waste time go back forth to TMPoint. Then, I know Maxis using same infra as Unifi but I put my hope on Maxis since I check on their coverage, my home is available. Maybe Maxis got reserved port or can pull some strings in case port is full. So I applied for Maxis Home Fiber and they cant proceed due to unpaid bill. So I paid some unpaid bill which is on 2010 i think around 300+. Lastly they said they cant proceed. So there goes my 300+. Hahaha! Bad luck on new home.

personally unifi is the fibre broadband that I have very good experience with. no complaint.

one of the best broadband that does not have cap on the speed no matter what.

Nope. Ask both TM and Maxis for when is the new port installation. Is it annually, biannualy, weekly, etc yet they answer there are users that wait for years and do not have their new port installed yet. Maybe it's because of low demand. No untung for them mahh. I already suggested them to check for unused port but I guess they're lazy to check. sweat.gif

In Malaysia, what ever telco also sucks, only Digi can be use "BUT" , you need sacrifice 1 phone to put outside/ near windows to get good 4G signal, tethering as a modem for other devices to use. Ping quite good at 45-70ms and connections also stable. sad.gif

Not so expensive. Most area easily got above 10Mbps. Have u check Digi plan yet? http://new.digi.com.my/postpaid-plans but u just miss the 100 plan. With GST 106 only. 5Mbps speed. I myself use wireless broadband due to my place issue with wired broadband and averagely on 30Mbps.

But anyway, it should based on your usage. U don't need unlimited quota if you are not heavy user. What telcos u are using now and what device? Better if 4G device so u can check the exactly what coverage u got.

Yo guys I'm in a complicated situation.

I can't apply normally with personal plan for unifi so that will cost me RM210 and 310 for 5Mbps and 10Mbps respectively.

Do you think its wise to get a Maxis fibre plan?

NO.

Unless you willing to tolerate the very unstable speed. Fiber line is NOT supposed to be unstable, but Malaysian fiber line is different and a bit "special", you see....

If you sign up, don't come back to complain here that it sucks, because you have ample warning here already.

Bloodsucker company should be boycotted whenever possible.

Even as I type this, I was losing a mobile online game for the past hour, becos of the sucky Maxis fiber.

The NON STOP modem blinking lights for "Internet" and "Wireless" on the modem router (since the past 2 hours at least), tells you all you need to know.

VERY unstable line. SUCKS like SHIT.

yesterday i called maxis and astro to ask them about pricing.

Few surprises that i encountered from the conversation especially with Astro people

1. I asked why price 30mbps Astro more expensive than maxis , she said because maxis marketing strategy
2. I asked if i already subscribed to maxis 100mbps plan, and i want Astro IPTV, she told me two options:-
a. Astro will install normal astro not IPTV
b. Astro will downgrade to 30mbps then only i will get IPTV.

But more surprises when i googled i found many so called Astro / maxis dealers around create their own website and offers better promotional packages and better options like you can opts for 100mbps and get better discount if you subscribe astro IPTV

i.e : http://www.maxisbroadband.com.my/

What is all these? Contradicting with official maxis/ astro replies?

Please check it from the website that you have posted here again. It didn't state that they are offering 100Mbps for Astro IPTV.

Hi all, i have been using maxis fibre 10mbps for past couple months. So far so good. Its just that I think I need a better router as at night at most my family will be streaming/downloading, and the bandwidth not shared equally, resulting no connection to some users sometimes. Could anyone suggest affordable router to solve this issue?

last week i went for 1week holiday unplugging the modem, upon returning open up, the maxis modem internet becomes red light

call maxis from yesterday until today also no solution

call them 5 times, the longest one for about 45 minutes, the other 4 calls tokk about 15mins

imagine the time and cost calling them and the time lost for not be able to use internet

now i have to use my own digi data hotspot to write this

TQ maxis for making our life miserable

So this lesson taught you don't switch off modem during holiday vacation. My home unifi will never switch off because we got cctv and alarm must go online for 24 hours. I went to Japan vacation for 1 week at last month but never switch off the internet connection.

There are some good routers out there, you can take TP-Link Archer C5, Tenda AC18 and some other routers. Tenda AC18 is the best you can find within the price range of RM300-RM400. However, don't ever try D-Link DIR850L, it is the worst router I could find in the market.

from my experience:

I am ex-unifi user, last 2 weeks with the maxis 30mbps (RM139)

pros:
1. free call (home and mobile)
2. cheaper compare to unifi (with the member get member program = RM20 rebate x 12 months)
3. no issue on kodi, BT download, dota2 &....
4. free AC wireless router
5. tested download 50gb in a day with no issue

cons:
1. have to change package after 2 years
2. higher ping (7ms compare to unifi 3ms)

do let me know if you wan a maxis referer
more info: https://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/intern...sonehome.htmlll

thanks.

This is the information I get from one of my tm installer. If you go out for long period of time, you only can turn off your router NOT modem. Because when the technicians test the port for new user, they will test the port and if they didn't receive the news that your port in use, they will replace your port to the new user. So it is better to turn on modem ONLY.

If you want cheap, go with Maxis Fibre
If you want stability and faster on-site technician, get UniFi

Remember, Maxis Fibre still use TM's infra to provide their internet
So if there's a problem with your Maxis Fibre, not only you have wait for MF technician to come, MF also need TM's schedule to get their technician to come together. That's double the waiting period

Cheapest package from both ISP:
Maxis Fibre 10Mb/s - RM119
UniFi Lite 10Mb/s - RM129

Only Maxis Business Fibre is monthly commitment X remaining months ..

You might want to pin this though as theres a lot of misconception.

Maxis uses TM infra on the last mile, which is from the cabinet to your house/apartment. After that Maxis have their own infra but some areas they still use TM infra. This is not the reason that maxis service sucks if it does because maxis provide their own PPPOE servers and routing.

Unlike TM, Maxis isnt a T1 ISP. Despite the fact that maxis is an ISP in a couple other countries doesnt make them good either. Maxis lacks the international bandwidth that TM has because TM has become a T1 ISP, connecting malaysia to other countries so maxis is only fast within south east asia. This isnt limited to maxis as all other Tier 3 ISPs in malaysia suffer from the same fate so we are literally at the whims of singapore for our international bandwidth (except for TM). This also applies to TIME (i've used them and even a 512Kb/s video from another country buffers).

Maxis support is also known to be small and the router they give is known to be crap.

Regardless, if you dont care about the international bandwidth and your primary content comes from south east asia and you use your own good router, you will find maxis to be cheaper and better than TM when TIME isnt available in your area. Many of the complaints i see for Maxis happen because of the crappy router they give out.
