Regarding Kodi 16.1 and quasar add-on.
I was having problem on quasar 0.9.69, it keep crashing and can't open.
Tried uninstall burst, quasar and magnetic2quasar connector and reinstall again but still face the same issue.

Thus, what I did is restore quasar and burst from my backup.
Disabled on quasar auto-update and let burst still auto.

Guess what? It is working again.
My quasar is 0.9.58 and burst is 0.5.2.

Edit: to restore, what I did is direct copy revelant folders inside Kodi, addons.

I see.. as with every Android version update, the OS is more refined and apps can tap into hardware more. Figures.

The only addons you need to run Quasar is the official repo, Quasar and Quasar burst. Completely uninstall previous providers, connector, unofficial repos, etc. As this conflict with the smooth operation. Also, With every change in Quasar settings or update, ALWAYS exit Kodi properly and relaunch. Doing this allows the addon to process the changes and restart the daemon with the updated changes.

This is what did uninstall all revelant programs and quasar. Restart Kodi and install all over for the quasar.
Dunno why it keep crashing.

Anyhow, by restore the quasar folders manually from. My backup, it is working fine on Kodi 16.1.

Quasar 9.69 is ok here Kodi 16.1 android 6.0 H96 Pro+ S912. I'll stick with Kodi 16.1

i had played with it a few times... old, new... 16.1, 17.0....

within a few days, the updates/ can't update can go haywire!

finally concluded 17.0 works better with 9.69.

Mind sharing the minimum android box spec for the best kodi experience? Do I really need latest box with chipset like Amlogic S912 + 3GB ram? My kodi usage only 720p and 1080p source only. No need for 4k. I dont want to spend extra money for features I dont use. My budget around RM250 only. thanks in advance

Boxes with Amlogic S905, 16GB + 2GB should be ok, there are plenty with RM250 price out there. Some even with 32 + 3GB like Docooler M9S-PRO. H96 Pro also a good one to consider

S905, 2gb/8gb space is suffice and cost less than $200, search in Lazada or GearBest

Quasar...

9.69 was working good.

Then messages... quasar updated, quasar burst updated.

Now, it starts crashing....

Check update, there is 9.71 but failed to update.

So many updates within days.

Quasar is becoming unstable... annoying.

Anyone can share which plugin has Malaysia live TV like TV1,2,3,8 and NTV7?

I tried Mr.Network, AdrianTV addon. only provide TV1 and 2.

Relax bruh.. Not easy keeping up with changes... We do not want to piss off a good dev.. Lest he ceases to improve or update the addon and then we'll truly be stuck without a beautiful addon... And with no equal alternative in sight.

Yeah, V0.9.71 indeed has an issue causing the addon to crash upon run. It's due to the .lockfile package and certain file permission issues, and the dev is rewriting right now... The next update should fix the bug.

since i could not get what i wanted with quasar, i returned to popcorn and discovered something new!

Yep... From day one (2014).

I realised on Q5 devices, in Kodi, even if I use my backup to load into this box, there's still some remaining unwelcome add-on sticking in the video section which requires manuall removal....

And that's just the video, dunno what other add-ons which requires removal in other sections of Kodi... Haven't tested completely look into it

How are you backing up? Copy and pasting the whole folder?

Using Ares Wizard

I use Ares Wizard too and don't face such issues. I do clean up before backup. The usual delete packages & caches. After which Kodi is safely shutdown and restarted. Then only backup is carried out. During backup, I select all but logs, thumbnails, etc. As these can be rebuilt on a new install.
