You'll be surprised to know how many idiots think their phone screens are invincible.

Hey, even Iron Man needs Hulk Buster suit.

i started this thread due to lots of /k said "gorilla glass don need put screen protector"

I am phone accessories seller and was a nokia lumia user.

my lumia 800 scratched and chipped in few months use without screen protector.

and lots and lots and lots of my customers who believed in gorilla glass were regret because their screen was either scratched or chipped or cracked in a short period.

one of my customer said "tiada benda yang perfect kecuali dihasil daripada Allah notworthy.gif

So i am here summoning /k who experienced scratched or cracked gorilla glass.  smile.gif

Me first :  Lumia 800 within 6 months usage, few scratches and chipped

Here is the concept of Gorilla glass

at the same spec and dimension

it does have a higher strength and the resistance to scratch than typical glass

it is just chemical/physics

now here's what is rally happening

increase strength means potential reduction of thickness
either for lowering weight or just cost saving

what you have is a thinner glass that might or might not perform better than normal glass

the manufacturer have no reason to make an indestructible phone other than their rugged series

scratch resistance is always been there, as glass, even the normal ones is quite good resisting scratches from keys (copper/brass) or coins

People are okay with looking through scratched screen protectors but are not okay with looking through scratched gorilla glass.

I don't understand.

My iPhone 5 used for a couple of years without screen protector. No scratch or chip off at all.

Same goes for my iPhone 6. Used for a year already.

from personal experience I find tempered glass protectors do a good job of absorbing the impact energy of a fall. would rather pay RM20 extra to save on a costly RM300 screen replacement

yup, need that tempered glass as add-on armour laugh.gif

dropped my phone so many times that each time could have broken a glass cup, but only the protector cracked, screen is okay. you won't appreciate your rm20 protector until you pick up your phone from the floor, see the cracks and then realise the gorilla glass is ok laugh.gif

Typing from note 4 without tempered glass

Btw If phone with tempered glass fall the extra layer(tempered glass) will increase impact time resulting less impulsive force exerted on the screen. Thus this will reduce the risk to break your screen when u suddenly drop your hp while typing in /k

Tempered glass + tougher casings = will protect your phone in mint condition even after a few years.

This is what many people do not understand. Hey, falling on your butt hurts, but if I could have a box of fat under my butt, it will hurt less and probably no extensive damage.
