QUOTE(3antz @ Apr 29 2016, 11:13 AM) web and mobile apps. plan to learn up swift soon. MBP is quite expensive, would MBP 13" do the job? Also about the upgrades, do I need to go back to the authorized centers to make changes in the future? Thanks. Yeah, it is quite expensive. But it can last for years, with careful maintenance. MBA can do the job too. Only heard it from other people, but haven't really know it, so I can't really comment too much on it. AFAIK, you can't upgrade the hardware on all new models. Maybe you can, but it's not that simple. So if you want to buy one, try and get the best spec you can afford. Usually 8gb(or better 16gb) RAM with 256 SSD is good enough.

That's considered as under utilised macbook for me. If you're doing any software development or designing, then it's good to buy mac. otherwise it's cheaper and better to buy non-Apple laptop

Anyone here feel the same?

MBP 2009 Core 2 Duo (dinosaur) 8GB RAM, 1TB HD, still okay. Can update software. Am running El Capitan. Only thing that slight lags in MS Office. And well, I have a blue line on my screen.

Not really actually If you compare non apple product running on HDD, then statement is true. But if the non apple product is running on SSD, not much difference in speed. Currently my rMBP 2014 model Safari does hang from time to time after updating to the latest El Capitan

Definitely worth it. MacBook is very snappy when it comes to performance. Windows machine is no fight even comparing to Mac running boot camp windows.

Hi, I'm planning to buy a MBA / MBP.
I read somewhere that we cannot copy the files freely between the external HDD & MAC. The external HDD must be formatted to FAT32 in order to do that. Is it true?

But for drive formatted with NTFS, no write permission (can't delete files, can't copy files from Mac into drive formatted with NTFS). Make sense cause NTFS is developed by Microsoft. You can still install third party drivers to enable the NTFS write.

It comes with a modified Paragon NTFS drivers that specially works on Seagate external HDD only (read/write). So far that is the most cost effective solution to my external HDD. Have 5 external seagate HDD total to date, connected to 3 of my mac devices
