To be honest, is wifi that reliable for online gaming? I keep my wireless router close to my 360 so I can run an RJ45 into the LAN port - somehow the limitations of wifi doesn't appeal to me when even wired internet faces so much trouble from streamyx.

You get problems with Wifi when you have too many access points clustered too close to each other.

Within a structure, wifi could be problematic if you have cordless phones, astro extender, ie any devices using the 2.4GHz band.

All these problems can be solved by using 802.11a instead of 802.11b/g.

I had no problems with my 2nd 360 (acting as media center extender) using 802.11a. Last time when using 802.11g always face network problems especially when watching Live TV.

"Both the CPU and GPU both sport different revision information on the chips but its hard to say whether or not 65nm has been implemented."

LOL. They even have animated gifs and they can't figure it out. It's obviously NOT a 65nm core. A 65nm core would be about half the size of the old one.

maybe they wont do that built in wifi at all because if they do so then no one will go buy that super expensive microsoft xbox360 wireless adapter that cost nearly rm300 after that!

One a side note, we all had a good belly laugh here at the shop when we saw Microsoft's most creative measures to minimize the dreaded Xbox 360 3 flashing red lights "ring of death" error caused by poor BGA connections of the CPU and GPU.  It seems that that the good ol' a dab will do ya methodology applies here.  Take a look at the epoxy surrounding the CPU and GPU which is intended to prevent the BGA connection from popping as the board warps.  This has to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen.  Will it do the job, we have our doubts, but it will remain to be seen. It certainly seems like taking the easy way out instead of fixing the real problem.
some poster claimed, that if ur current set 3RoD and sent it to be fixed (in the US), the returned set also have this 'sticky' epoxy on the CPU & GPU.

maybe time to wave 3RoD bye-bye? biggrin.gif

Its clearly a different board. The animated gifs make it obvious. Plus the new board has less power MOSFETS than the previous one (on the right side of the board you can see 3 less missing power mosfets), so it seems like power is reduced quite a bit.

Xbox 360 Elite vs. classic: the test
http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/26/xbox-36...assic-the-test/

In a nutshell...
QUOTE
Basically, unless you are seriously eagle-eyed, have a massive friggin screen, or for whatever reason need to use HDMI because you're all out of component inputs, your investment in the first-gen Xbox 360 is probably safe. Do yourself a favor, just buy that 120GB drive if you need the space, the HDMI really just doesn't justify replacing your whole console for a new $480 unit. Then again, if you're truly "elite" then all the stuff we just said really doesn't matter, and you're probably gonna buy this thing anyway. Cheers, enjoy!
