QUOTE(sin @ Apr 20 2016, 01:04 PM) Hey people, By chance, anyone worked in Hong Kong before? I have been in Hong Kong, for travel but never lived there for lolng time. What would be the cost of living like in Hong Kong eg to rent house, for food and living etc. Appreciate if you can share. Thank you. You gila ker? I hate to work for hongkees. They look down on us. They just a bit like singkies. I was surprise that they even talk like cavemen, they keep referring to me as someone from the developing nation. Ok lar, not everyone is bad, they are efficient, and some of them are nice. But the bosses are assholes.

Among all asia countries i've been to. Hong Kong is the best international country for "single" men. Although Singapore consider as international country as well but the girls mindset there aren't that "International" yet

QUOTE(sin @ Apr 25 2016, 08:27 AM) I see... I choose HK not because of place, mainly because there is an opening for a suitable position. But true one of my main concern would be the cost of living, and about how much I need to ask for to ensure I won't end up getting paid lesser than what I am currently having. If not change job lagi tolak gaji, rugi lah hehe You can read Chinese or not? If you cannot, then going to order makan very susah liao. Hong Kee people have no patience one.

Working in Japan now, I think Japan is best for single men. Here girls are trying to change to a international mindset. QUOTE(dangerminimouse @ Dec 20 2016, 03:14 PM) You can read Chinese or not? I always need my wife to patiently explain to me what is on the menu and also the set menu that is available. This post has been edited by sacwoc: Dec 21 2016, 09:17 AM

hello,
hongkong is good for experience but not for long term... if you plan to go there 2-3 years to get something interesting on your resume then go for it.
i worked in hk for 3 years - exited june 2015 ... average expenses (per month) -
rent = 12,000 (cwb area) food = i budgeted 100 per meal x 3 meals x 30 days = 9,000 mobile / internet / utilities = 500 octopus card top up = 500
hope this helps.

Education is really expensive and they start from 3 years old. British Council Pre school for kids 3yrs -6 yrs cost about 72,000HKD/year. I do have a property in HK currently but a bit far of from city center. As I am looking at a few schools in HK, I might just sell it off and get one nearer to their school.
