No serious cons

Minor cons :

- you might need to get used to HW UI . If you don't like just use any 3rd party launcher but than you lose the flexibility to change to any of its large variety of themes
- camera is not that super excellent but is good enough for most common folks. Just don't compare it to S7e or LG v10 which has to date the best camera in its class
- display is only 1080p but seriously I cannot see any significant differences with those 2K display phones unless one has microscopic vision !!
- well it is 6 inches display and not everyone can accept such a big display size ??

Stop looking if you are trying to find the perfect 10/10 phone - it doesn't exist. Even on the renown iphone 6s+ ( which I have) I can write a full essay why it is still imperfect

Thanks for the advise. Appreciate it a lot. Just that i am still wondering between Mate 8 and P9+... don't know should i wait for it or not. HTC will definitely not going to be my choice anymore because of the high budget needed which i feel it's not worth it.

Agree with uncle benny. There is no such thing as the perfect phone.

I thought my note 5 was the perfect phone until how buggy my unit was.

Mate 8 is not perfect. It has its flaws but definitely less buggy vs note 5.

U need to ask urself, what are your main criterias in a phone? Then perhaps u can choose accordingly.

If compare between Mate 8 and P9+, which one you all suggest? i think the difference is only limited to the few below.

6" IPS Neo vs 5.5" Super Amoled
Camera 16MP vs Leica Duo 12MP
Battery 4000 vs 3400

If the price for P9+ is about 2k++ would it be a better choice since the rest of the specs is not much different.

Nobody can decide for you
Just decide based on your budget n which phone features are more important to you

i doubt p9+ will be that cheap by looking at how the P9 being priced at RMB3688 (4GB+64GB variant) RRP in china compare to Mate 8 at RMB3699 (4GB+64GB variant) RRP in China. the P9 may be superior in its camera, but i find the camera on the Mate8 is decent enuff for me. if i want real image quality, i still have my dslr and mirrorless camera for serious photography. What good does powerful camera brings when your phone runs out of battery earlier? just my 2 cents. smile.gif

just look at how they price Mate 8 and Mate S in china, it reflects exactly how it is priced here thru some rough currency conversion. So i reckon P9 will be priced near Mate 8 and P9+ will be priced near to 3k price range edi. smile.gif

After a week, for me it's a spectacular phone. The battery life is nothing short but amazing. Even after gaming for an hour the phone is barely warm which is unbelievable. Once you get used to the size and UI it's actually not bad at all. For me the only drawback for the Mate 8 camera is no Auto HDR. You have to do it manually. But the exposure is pretty spot on anyway and i like that i can touch to expose for that particular spot. No such thing on the G4. I actually find the speaker bassier than the G4 but once you go full volume it distorts a lot. The sweet spot for me is around 60% volume which is already quite loud and minimal distortion.

For the P9/+, keep in mind that they don't have OIS. Also, the Kirin 955 is just a higher clocked Kirin 950.

That will depend on individual as each phone has its pro n cons
I had used so many type of Androids n yet to find the best phone
Which is better will depend on one's important needs /features on the phone

Optical image stabilization - this will reduce/or even eliminate shake effects while taking any camera shot

Totally agree with you. My main concern is still Sense UI vs EMUI.

For me, I will take it, I am overwhelmed by mate 8 superb screen and battery life.
HTC sense....maybe wait for xda experts to root it, if there is any chance flash it with CM to get original android UI
