But i heard that LCCI is easier to study, right? My purpose of study accounting is not to become an accountant, the main purpose is to help improve my business productivity and management. Any comments?

Indeed, why Australia when ACCA is UK-based. It'll make more sense to take CPA in Australia instead. Of course it is internationally recognised but still, what's the reasoning behind it? Or is it some random thing you pulled from the air?

Then go for LCCI, ACCA is more for accountant and ACCA is the highest level of accounting course. |

If i'm not mistakened, LCCI is equivalent to a diploma in accountancy. If you just want to know the basics of accountancy, then i guess LCCI is the way to go. It takes only 1 year to complete if i'm not mistakened.
Depending on what are you working as, you can perhaps consider Management based course instead? Coz LCCI and ACCA are both accounting courses. May not be relevant to what you're doing. But hey, it's always good to improve yourself right? |

LCCI takes 14months to complete. Actually i got a biz myself doing some manufacturing & distributing products, my company got around 40 staffs working. I think no need to study so advance ACCA gua? I just need a knowledge that really can help in my biz. Correct me if i'm wrong.

If you not intend to be a profesional accountant, than LCCI should be enough for you. Why waste 3-4 years to study ACCA, if not intend to become an accountant.

QUOTE(rstusa @ Jan 4 2007, 10:09 AM) They are 2 different things.LCCI is not a professional course, it is at the level of technical accounting (diploma level); ACCA is professional body, and recognised by MIA to be a qualified accountant in Malaysia. The level/status of LCCI has been threatened by ACCA's CAT (Certified Accounting Technician), hence they try to "counter-attack" by having "smart partnership" with AIA, UK, and comes up with the Society of International Accounting Technicians (SIAT). mind if im asking, do u have any degree..?? LCCI would be too basic, if u really wanna know what is debit and credit and account entry stuff, then okie.. Government has recently 'downgraded' LCCI into certificate level, not even a diploma..
ACCA would cover broad accounting n biz knowledge.. In ur position, ur biz around 40 stafts currently, but dun u wanna expend ur biz.?? dun u need better knowledge to handle ur biz.?? Well, the fact is many acca graduates go to the commercial line and holding high position such as ceo/md, who say acca only for accountant.?? |

LCCI is a professional certificate equivalent to foundation level studies.Depending on what are you working as, you can perhaps consider Management based course instead? To be an accounts clerk: take the LCCI. To be an accountant, and MIA member: take the ACCA To know more about business: take a diploma in business or even some short courses. Better still, read business books. |

QUOTE(rstusa @ Jan 5 2007, 03:23 PM) If you're referring to ACCA, it's more of a mixture of both.. Normally theory is good enough for you to pass it.. But of course you'll have an added advantage (albeit to a certain extent) if you have the practical know how..QUOTE(joey85 @ Jan 5 2007, 06:10 PM) ACCA is more professional as compared to what? LCCI?Well, of course it is.. It's a more advanced paper.. |
