hi all,
can anyone tell me i get maxis wronged on this...

http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/servic...g/oneworld.html

does the page said once we go out to these countries

Singapore,[COLOR=red] Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, Philippines, Cambodia and Laos

and once we do use maxis number either answer or make call or even sms then we'll get charge rm38/day until we go back malaysia? and if we are staying there for a few days then we'll be charged continuously @ rm38/day since the first call / sms started the service until we come back malaysia even we are not using it anymore @ days later after?

and the most frightening is, these roaming service cannot be stop after activation until we come back malaysia, are u robbing all maxis one users!!?

Yes, there have been complaints on this before but maxis hasn't done anything. I'm waiting for my next overseas trip when they charge me RM38 a day and then I'll take it to the MCMC. Is like they just add options and amount to your bill without giving you an option. I'm pretty sure that's not right.

Is it true ? I remember last time need to activated it and it only for ONE day. The second day you can activated again if need.

But after some calculation, i prefer to buy the country local sim and never use the data roaming service anymore.

Now you can stay connected no matter where you are in the world. With one flat rate across the world, you can enjoy high-speed Internet for only RM38/day!

1 Day Internet RM38 gives you the freedom to surf, check your emails, download your favourite content, update your social network and so much more anywhere in the world!

All you need to do is activate your roaming service and connect to any of our network partners to roam without fear worldwide.

Q6:
How much I will be charged for DDR?
A6:

You will be charged RM38 upon using data service on the preferred network while roaming in 79 countries.

Your DDR will be auto renewed once it hits midnight Malaysian time zone and your data quota will be refreshed.

Note: You will only be charged RM 38 per day even if you travel to multiple countries within a day before DDR expires.[COLOR=red]

last month i went hong kong, even though i off data roaming, but i received sms from malaysia, and maxis considered it as data. doh.gif 50kb charge me RM1.85, but luckily less than 256kb, if not kena RM38.

also, they keep spam me sms, ask me sign up for the RM38/day package, 1 day at least 10 sms, and sometimes 1 minute can send up to 2-3 same messages.

Wow, Maxis is scary.

If I am oversea for 1 month, then the roaming charges will be RM38 x 30 = RM1140. rclxub.gif

If the account has a credit of RM500, what will happen? Total cutoff service?

As long as data roaming is untick, I don't think maxis is charging rm38. Those sms whenever you're overseas are normal, kinda like SOP for all telco with no charges.

Not trying to protect or anything..

Lets say for U Mobile, Celcom & Maxis.. for a 10 min call in Singapore to Malaysia & use 50MB of data

Also bear in mind that Umobile & Celcom charge for receiving calls per min. Maxis doesn't.

Nonetheless, do survey & check out all the available package n find which suits you.. Don't ever change plan or accept plans over the phone or just listen to a sale person which tries to push you any product. Take your time to understand what you are getting yourself into by checking websites, printed materials & so forth

Celcom https://www.celcom.com.my/personal/plans/in...d=1360826523383
RM 3.30 per min = RM 33.00
Unlimited internet per day = RM 38

U mobile http://www.u.com.my/international-roaming/roaming-overseas
RM 2.50 per min = RM 25.00
50MB free per day (if exceed, RM 30 max a day)

Maxis http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/servic...g/oneworld.html
Unlimited min = RM 38
1st 500MB free (No data how much it'll cost if more)

Digi http://new.digi.com.my/roaming/internation...untry=Singapore
Rm 2.80 per min = RM 28
50MB = RM 10 (Roam10 - Unlimited Social Messaging + 50MB) Unlimited RM 36.00 /country/day

Another note in the FAQ http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/servic...g/oneworld.html

What do I see a charge of RM10 & RM28 in my bill instead of RM38?

For minimal usage of up to 2 calls or 2 SMS or less than 256kb data, charges will be at RM10
Subsequent usages and upon reaching the usage threshold of 3 calls or 3 SMS or 256kb data, charges will be at RM28
In total, you only pay a maximum of RM38/day

What if I finish 500MB MaxisONE World pass quota?

You will receive an SMS notification when you’ve reached 100% usage of your 500MB high-speed data quota. Subsequently, your usage will be drawn from domestic data quota with no additional cost.

I wonder what will happen if after 2 days on roaming, I decide to get a local number. Took out the Maxis SIM card and insert the local sim.
Will Maxis continue to charge me for the auto roaming even I have removed the SIM card from the phone?

For selected countries are RM 38 max a day, unlimited calls and sms...

I think if you use for 1 day it will only charge you 1 day... not through out your whole trip..

best bet is either buy a local sim card (most cases are cheaper) or put phone on airplane mode n manually turn on wifi n use hotspots area.

I thought under this maxis one plan... u get charge rm38... u get to use unlimited call, sms, and data... on top of that they give u extra 500mb each day... the call, sms, and data they use ur local quota.. say u r having a 3gb package they tap the quota from ur 3gb but giv u 500mb extra perday.. not like this meh

nope. according to maxis official website says, once u've activated tis svc as above discussed, u'll not able to stop it & u'll b charged rm38/day @ everyday until u came back m'sia devil.gif

even though u only used once @ touch down for contact ur mama & pull out the sim card after tat & enjoy ur 1 wk holiday @ oversea... bye.gif

and, it's only giv u 500mb/day not 3gb & after finish 500mb u've to top up or totally cut off data.

Folks, am i Understanding it wrongly?

Let's not look at "How I subscribe" cause that shows need to turn on data roaming or make a call or SMS.

Look at the FAQs, it's more damning.

How do I subscribe to MaxisONE World pass?

There is no subscription required. When you are abroad with your MaxisONE plan, any calls (received or made), any SMS sent, any data used (via webpages, apps, and all other platforms) will automatically kick start your MaxisONE World pass.

Shit... This is really MAXSHIT.

MCMC had better look into this. This is forcing people to pay MaxShit RM38 a day. This is better than robbing people, cos MaxShit can say this is legal.

But to me this is Illegal.

hmm.gif it's not as sinister as that it seems. Maxis centre is saying, you pay to a max of RM38 a day. But if you just receive one call, roaming fees to receive call is example RM5. You just pay RM5. If you get 8 calls as such, without this MaxisOne world pass, you pay RM40 instead but they throw in this offer, paying RM38 and give some data to use also.

Other benefits, it also prevents people who accidentally turn on data roaming, max they pay also RM38 a day.

Let's see whose on this and is it as per above explanation given.

max rm38/day compare to rm40/8call is vr thoughtful, if u really talking business @ oversea...

most user if going out for holiday maybe juz use 1 time while touch down to inform family only
but the PASS already being kick-started

if they going there 1 wk leh~? oso kena rm38/day?
and the most ridicules is, no option to stop it until u come back m'sia

No, what it is meant to do is to CAP it to MAX RM38/day so that you won't get a BILL SHOCK. Must look at the current perspective, you will now also incur cost when travelling overseas if you send SMS, it's usually RM0.50 and receive calls, you will get roaming charges. It's just saying if your total cost < RM38, you get charge as per usage. But if you use > RM38, you just get charged RM38.

Sounds plausible explanation when I called Maxis centre, but, what I'm referring to earlier post, the FAQ and site is slightly misleading and confusing. At first read through, it implies otherwise.

I'm sharing what i understand and hear from Maxis centre, hope those under MOP and got charged Maxis OneWorld Pass, which is the reality.

Understood entirely, I'm just reporting back what explaination from Maxis. Pretty sketchy on the explanation part, Maxis gets an award for being ambiguous.
The part you can't opt out is always a no no.

Anyone with Maxis one plan and got affected by Maxis One World plan, please log a MCMC report on deceptive FAQs. I wish I could, but I'm just on little surfmore.

Seems that the RM38/day apply to all Plans. MOP, iValue and Survemore and Hotlink too.
No way out except you put your sim card on a dumb phone which does not have data service.

Not sure your smart phone will trigger it or not.

They said to switch OFF Data Roaming and Cellular Data and don't set the phone to LTE or 3G.
If the smart phone is so smart, it keeps trying to trigger the data service, then if one time successful, you will be charged RM38/day.

Better put the sim card into a dumb phone to avoid the RM38/day Data Roaming.

Not true, it's even calls received/made or sms sent. Disabling the Data roaming doesn't help. That's the old way to avoid roaming charges.

Did an online chat with them this morning.
They showed me the link for Roaming charges which is for the MOP.
I told them I am on ivalue plan. They said it applies to all Plans.
I told them I am going oversea for 1 month and I am not going to pay RM38 x30 days while oversea.
Then they told me to disable the Data Roaming and Cellular Data and switch OFF LTE and 3G.

I got the 7days SIM only 300 baht!! insert into my Z5P dual sim, and luckily i disable the Maxis SIM during the stay, or else i will be charge RM38 per day which is blood sucking!!

I have been using this Maxis number for more than 16 years, better don't force me to port into other service.

As long as data roaming is untick, I don't think maxis is charging rm38. Those sms whenever you're overseas are normal, kinda like SOP for all telco with no charges.
*
Is it confirmed? because for Celcom even turn off that but if mobile data is not off, there will still be rm38 charge per da, as they partner with other telcos in other countries so even the data roaming off, data can still be used, as somehow they gang up to make it appeared like it is the same Celcom network even u are roaming, as long as u roam to their partner telcos.

what about mobile data option,

there are two options, one is mobile data option, another one is data roaming option (under mobile data option).

if just turn off data roaming option, enough to avoid the cost?

I was charged RM38/day for 4 consecutive days last week while I was in Singapore & somehow my phone's setting got the data roaming on, but, I didn't use my phone when I'm out & without wifi, so, I guess the only data traffic was the incoming push text messages from WhatsApp, which can't be much volume.

I called Maxis helpdesk & they told me as long as you use more than 512 Bytes of data, they will charge you RM38/day, claiming that this is for your protection as you could clock up a lot more expenses if you hit high volume of data. Daylight robbery RM38 for 513 bytes of data!!!

On detailed check of my bill, I noticed Maxis charged me RM38 for 4 days PLUS an additional line under Roaming Calls & Data Charges for Singapore - Data Charges that show: [Operator: SingTel; Type: Internet; Qty: 25,400KB; Total (RM): 15.21]. Definitely looks very suspicious that they double-bill me.

Maxis call centre initially explained that the additional RM15.21 charge for data roaming was due to my usage exceeding the 500MB daily limit. I challenged them that as my data roaming was accidentally turned on & I have not been using data without wifi, I can't have used above 500MB in a day.

After checking, Maxis called back to explain that the way to interpret this Data Charge line item is: I used a total of 25.4MB of data via SingTel across the billing cycle, but, 4 of those days, my usage for the day exceeded 512KB (the threshold to trigger RM38 daily charge). The charge of RM15.21 is for the other day(s)' data usage that I did not hit the threshold of 512KB.

I can't refute their argument. But, the fact that they twist & turn to get a 'logical' explanation is sufficient to give one the impression of overbilling & as post-paid customers, the sky is the limit for such practices mad.gif

If u turn on data roaming obviously there will be traffic in and out from ur phone even u dun surf or dun do anything. technically, u indeed are liable for the charges.

I am not refuting that I am liable for some data roaming charges, it is the over-charging that I am refuting. In Malaysia, I use about 200MB PER MONTH of Data, with Waze navigations, WhatsApp & ocassional net browsing. In Sgp, I did nothing except that the data roaming was somehow turned on for 5 days. So, go figure out.
