I m toking about wired LAN to PC and getting around 300Mbps. Ya, good if can get 400+ Mbps constantly. Wireless it's the AC1200 router limitation.

i am using TIME stock router TP-LINK Archer C1200, and now I am on 500 mbps plan

my computer is old (> 10 years already) and my network speed is only 100mbps.

so guys, what i need to do to get 500 mbps?

need to change router?

need to add in network card?

or simply need to change the motherboard?

I have four 5G devices. Planning to add more in the future in the form of laptops, and convert PC connection from LAN to WIFI because I dislike the LAN cable on the floor (lazy do proper arrangement running through ceiling). Does this really important?

btw, I am using DNS-320 network drive. Previously I use a very old stock router from Unifi, no problem with it.

Now after I changed to TIME and use AC1200 router, my network drive keep disappearing from the network from time to time. Need to restart the DNS only can appear back.

the Twonky server I installed in the DNS-320 also will auto disconnect when I watch movie content in the DNS via Samsung smart TV.

very annoying. Until now I still can't find a solution about it.

the configuration i used to enable detection of DNS-320 and Twonky server is I enable the DMZ under the NAT forwarding section.

not sure whether this is the culprit.

My RT-AC5300 only managed to get me 700Mbps on 5GHz Wifi. Very seldom get above 900Mbps. I think is due to interference from neighbours Wifi. On LAN can get full speed 1Gbps. Mine was 300Mbps upgraded to 1Gbps.

guys, I am still using the original DIR-850L, so the free upgrade need us to purchase router ourselves?

I'm using an RT-AC88U as media bridge to the RT-AC5300. My PC is linked via LAN to the 88U at 1Gbps. The media bridge backhaul speed on 5GHz is 1566Mbps. My setup is this way to link up the equipment in my office via LAN to the 88U and then wireless backhaul to the 5300 which is not accessible using wires and located in another room.

My recommendation:

Buy new router, keep AC1200 as spare!

As expected, if TIME does not issue new router for 500Mbps, then most of u all have to invest to buy new router unless you are happy with your current speed now

Nope, he looked at my router and said mine is way better and asked me to keep as spare , pass me my box and let me sign some document. I prefer this way anyways haha

I bought those 2 years ago mainly not for internet speed but for high speed transfering of files between my PCs and laptop

I speedtest so many times until the speedtest disconnects me. Haha...it only show download, then upload stop ady with no more internet connection. Have to wait a while before connection is back.
