I m toking about wired LAN to PC and getting around 300Mbps. Ya, good if can get 400+ Mbps constantly. Wireless it's the AC1200 router limitation.
*
The speed not yet finalize.

Wait for the official announcement of the new speed.

Wow!
Do let me know the test of AC1900 later. --> Sure, mid-week I will test and let you know the results. Previously was using T4U only because I only using 100Mbps and it suits me well. With TIME upgrade till 500Mbps (not expected this, expected only 300Mbps) then I need to change to T9UH ady!
*
Looking forward to hear from you soon.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Sep 30 2018, 06:47 PM)
What to look out for when choosing a router capable of achieving 500mbps and above?
I thought AC1200 is 800/400?
*
AC1200 only 300Mbps in reality

In real life cannot get the same speed the router bandwidth.

Do check here for more info about buying new router.

Thanks

Hey there, what's the benefit(?) of IPv6?
And how do I set it?

This is what my router setting looks like now, Archer C7.

[attachmentid=10049243]

Hi.Benefit of IPv6 means can access more.

Try to select the IPv6 Assigned Address type to SLAAC + RDNS and later change back. Restart the router and see whether the IPv6 works or not.

Thanks.

In reality. Even 300Mbps Wireless N also cannot get 300Mbps on WiFi.

i just heard of annoucement of TIME upgrade.

i so outdated  doh.gif

i am using TIME stock router TP-LINK Archer C1200, and now I am on 500 mbps plan

my computer is old (> 10 years already) and my network speed is only 100mbps.

so guys, what i need to do to get 500 mbps?

need to change router?

need to add in network card?

or simply need to change the motherboard?
*
Get at least AC2300 and above if you want fully 500Mbps on WiFi.

Do check out the Maximum Wi-Fi Speed thread for more info.

Thanks.

hi bro, I have the $ but I don't want to simply just spend for the sake of spending (buy the most expensive i mean).

I want to get the best value ratio in price vs performance.

any recommendation?  nod.gif
*
Hi, what's your budget so that we can recommend it you.
And state how many 5G devices connected to the router.

QUOTE(alexleow81 @ Sep 30 2018, 07:21 PM)
Sorry bro. I overlooked it. Yes. I am using C9 V5.1 EU firmware.

Mine got around 400 - 450Mbps speed!

Thanks.
*
Yours newer than mine so guess maybe hardware differences.
Mine is slower but still good. Will upgrade when 2.4GHz devices cannot load YouTube or very slow in the room.

Your 5G Channel set Auto right?

Wow! Will change mine to Auto when I'm back home.

QUOTE(skty @ Sep 30 2018, 07:31 PM)
budget not a problem but don't just recommend the most expensive router to me la...  biggrin.gif

I finding for best performance vs price ratio router.

I have four 5G devices. Planning to add more in the future in the form of laptops, and convert PC connection from LAN to WIFI because I dislike the LAN cable on the floor (lazy do proper arrangement running through ceiling). Does this really important?

staying in 2 storey building.

btw, I am using DNS-320 network drive. Previously I use a very old stock router from Unifi, no problem with it.

Now after I changed to TIME and use AC1200 router, my network drive keep disappearing from the network from time to time. Need to restart the DNS only can appear back.

the Twonky server I installed in the DNS-320 also will auto disconnect when I watch movie content in the DNS via Samsung smart TV.

very annoying. Until now I still can't find a solution about it.

the configuration i used to enable detection of DNS-320 and Twonky server is I enable the DMZ under the NAT forwarding section.

not sure whether this is the culprit.
*
You can get AC1900 or AC2300.

Or you can get AC5400 then later don't need to buy a new router again.

The existing router signal from the room how much?

Thanks.

Will let you know the speed nearest to the router.

QUOTE(Andy72 @ Sep 30 2018, 07:47 PM)
My RT-AC5300 only managed to get me 700Mbps on 5GHz Wifi. Very seldom get above 900Mbps. I think is due to interference from neighbours Wifi. On LAN can get full speed 1Gbps. Mine was 300Mbps upgraded to 1Gbps.
*
Also due to signal. Nearest can get full speed, further away can get a bit lower. Can check for me whether your PC link speed up to how much. Mine using AC1900 link speed up to 866.7Mbps.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Sep 30 2018, 07:51 PM)
can this AC2200 - https://www.tp-link.com/my/products/details...co-M9-Plus.html
or this - Archer C9 - https://www.tp-link.com/my/products/details..._Archer-C9.html

able to achieve 500Mbps?
thanks in advance  notworthy.gif

C9 also can.
If can top up get the AC2200

Thanks

I'm using an RT-AC88U as media bridge to the RT-AC5300. My PC is linked via LAN to the 88U at 1Gbps. The media bridge backhaul speed on 5GHz is 1566Mbps. My setup is this way to link up the equipment in my office via LAN to the 88U and then wireless backhaul to the 5300 which is not accessible using wires and located in another room.
*
Wow! You really have two higher end rioters.

Well, I guess will upgrade to Tri-Brand later.

Enjoy your 1Gbps speed bro.

Thanks.

My recommendation:

Buy new router, keep AC1200 as spare!

As expected, if TIME does not issue new router for 500Mbps, then most of u all have to invest to buy new router unless you are happy with your current speed now
*
I agreed with you.

Buy own router and use C1200 as an Access Point.
I think TIME will introduce new routers to new subscribers soon.

Thanks

Nope, he looked at my router and said mine is way better and asked me to keep as spare , pass me my box and let me sign some document. I prefer this way anyways haha
*
Haha, the technician so cute one.
The installer must be a networking expert.
Know that the free router is better than the router that you're using.

I also use better ones. Let's see what my installer will react when he see my router.

Hi, just performed the test. Tried Auto can get 200 - 300Mbps.

153 which is set all the time which can get around 350Mbps.

I guess I have to check which channels less interference.

Your channel bandwidth set to 80 or Auto?

Thanks.
