Dont really understand.. but nevermind lol.

Anyway, any ideas why my asus g53sx has only a max of 25mbps on speedtest white my macbook pro is able to achieve 90+mpbs? Both laptops are at the same location, approx 15ft away from modem and both using only 2.5ghz connection
*
What he meant was that the router with AC is better than the one with N.

Do a speedtest on both plugged into the router with a LAN cable and see whether the results are more consistent.

I will look at starting with 1 user then slowly adding more users to see what happens. It could be a user that is torrenting, and we don't know off.  ohmy.gif
*
That is definitely a possibility. I would suggest investigating quietly to find the culprit, if that's the case.

You may also want to try bringing up the matter with all the users about not using the workplace internet for personal use. You could be lucky and the problem will just go away... or they'll just laugh at you behind your back dry.gif

When the installer/technician comes, please ensure that they count the length of fibre cable from the conduit point right outside your front door instead of from the riser. It can be from 3 to 5 metres extra, which they can otherwise charge you. I have heard some incidents from neighbours disputing with the installer as to where to count it from.

I would suggest just putting the BTU and primary router in the living room near your TV table. Pulling the fibre anywhere further to a room or study may exceed the standard provided length.

Good luck.

Dear Bro
You are right most of the time , but Time fibre home broadband do available at some new project  now.
Latest Development is Hijuaan Valdor at Penang mainland.
Anyway only new housing development.
Thanks
*
Hijauan Valdor can be considered a small gated development, rather than an outright landed 'taman' worth of houses. I believe TIME can and will consider fibre cabling smaller developments like that because it is within their means since it's not extensive and very little more work than cabling up a few blocks of a condo.

Same reason they will be cabling up Effingham here in Bandar Utama soon.

In any case, I was really responding to RalphRatedR's query about Bandar Utama specifically, rather than the state or country, in general. After all, we are all aware that there are plenty of apartment and condo developments where TIME Fibre is still not available.

Standard way of Installation by following our Rate Card is from the Point of Entry (POE) to the ONU.

POE usually will be the point where the cable enters into the premise.

Thanks.
*
My point being the POE can and do differ from development to development, depending on whether the management has prepared ducting and conduits from the riser.

I felt I could comment on the Bandar Utama developments specifically because there are only two - Bukit Utama 1 and Bukit Utama 9 - and I live in one of them, and it seems that is where RalphRatedR is as well. And I am aware of a few installation disputes in the past few years here, so just giving him a heads-up.

I won't speak for all TIME locations in general because, again, I know it differs on a case-to-case basis.

how about the default hardware from Time? Huawei + Dlink router
*
In combination, those are good for 100Mbps easily.

But as mentioned, it depends on how far you are from the router, how many walls/doors there are in between and most importantly, whether the wifi hardware on your wireless device(s) can cope.

Until TIME starts offering a 1Gbps psckage, it doesn't really matter, does it?

If you are concerned about LAN traffic between the devices you have, they only go as far as the router.

at least with time now.. i can youtube better.. imdb better and read 9gag faster smile.gif

Well, the current complement of equipment provided by TIME isn't going to be the bottleneck for their currently offered packages.

If you get some slowdown, it's probably best to check your own devices first, especially if you are on WiFi.

Roughly 7 out of 10 people that tend to complain are the ones sitting 20 feet away from the router with 3 solid walls in between, and then wondering why they aren't getting 100% of the advertised speed.

Hi, I applied Time Home Broadband last year April and signed a contract for 2 years.

I am currently requested by house owner to move out, and the Time Plan still has 8 months to go.

Will I get a penalty for terminating it before 2 years usage?
*
In theory, yes.

But if you can prove that you have no choice but to move out, and where you are moving to has no TIME coverage for you to transfer the subscription, they may waive it.

Or you can ask them whether you can transfer the subscription over to someone to see out the remaining months. If you can, I may know someone willing to take it over. Location is Bandar Utama, PJ, if it makes a difference.

Hi all, just wondering how long does it normally take for Time to expand their coverage to a new condo in their coverage area? I am due to move in to a new place in Subang SS16 and understand time has already covered several buildings around the same area.

Need to plan ahead whether to get a wireless broadband while waiting for time, or just whack to subscribe to the unifi or maxis.
*
If the other buildings on the area are also condos in the same development by the same developer, chances are good.

Chances are even better if your condo already has fibre pulled up through the risers to the individual units.

Just enquire at the management office, and maybe get other people living in the same condo to enquire as well to show that there's demand.

not even a month don't know how many times I have ever restated my router. It is like a daily affair now... TIME send someone on Thursday to check, apparently he said issue could be due to power adapter. He changed the power adapter for the router, still same... sigh, who can  help me...
*
If your router is plugged into a power strip, try plugging it directly into the wall socket.

If your router is already plugged directly into the wall socket, try plugging it into another wall socket.

Rule out any electrical issues related to the power going into your router.

I dont have so many power outlet near the ONU, seriously,  this Dlink router so problematic? some time it rebooted by itself, sometime if just hang, both green light but unable to connect until reboot... why can't I just get a replacement unit and try...
*
I honestly haven't heard any issues from my parents-in-law about their DIR-850L.

If theirs has been rebooting itself, it seems to be reconnecting automatically and not causing any disruption in their internet access.

If yours is rebooting and not automatically reconnecting, maybe there's an 'Automatically Connect/Reconnect' option that you need enabled in the settings.

Well, if you still have the router from your previous service (Unifi?), maybe it's worth setting it up as your router just to clearly determine whether it's the DIR-850L that is the problem. If so, you can push for a replacement from TIME.

Will MAXIS router works with TIME?
*
Any router should work as long as you know how to configure it.

If you provide the model of your old Maxis router, someone here may be able to help you make it work with TIME.

is there any differences if I sign up for the internet service through TIME's website or through an agent?
*
I would just do it through the website or call the 1-800 number.

On both the applications I've done, TIME was very efficient with keeping me notified, and the installations went through without a problem.

Doing it through an agent does not speed up the process or make it any more smooth. And should you have any problems, it's always best to speak straight to TIME themselves rather than through a middle-man acting like a ping-pong ball.

So, what is the typical amount of time these days from the date you apply for TIME Fibre Broadband online to getting it installed and working?

The designated person for my condo has apparently moved away to Sarawak and is no longer available.

Is there a way to pick your TIME phone number from within a range before or during installation?

I would like a number that s similar to my outgoing Unifi number which I use for my home office.

You cannot choose the phone number as it is fixed. You can change phone number after installation.

You will be charged RM 10 for changing number if you request new number.

After installation, Submit modification form and write your own number that you requested to change.
The CS will check the number is available or not.
If it is not available, they will show you the list of options to choose from.
*
Is the form a physical or online one?

How does the CS 'show' you a list of available numbers since there's no physical location you can go to?

Can I just save time and hassle, and just do the modification through the installer when he comes?

You can fax or send by email.

If you need modification form. I will send you by PM.

Send email to them they will check the number first, after that they will ask you to choose one of them.

Dear Bro
The form  i can email to you . Kindly provide your email to yeapch@gmail.com

The Service Installer  do not the right to modify the number you request.

What TX sim provide the the above suggestion in fact is the proper channel

The Modification form you can put in the number you request and email to cs@time.com.my

Anyway , there is certain number is golden number , may require extra payment.

If you need my help on the above feel free to whatapps me @ 012 4900601

Thanks
*
Sounds like a hassle via email, fax or phone, when they have no physical presence.

I won't be needing any golden number, just one that has maybe the same 4-5 digits of my existing line. It would help,if I know what the current 4 digit prefix for TIME in Damansara is.

Maybe I'll just go to Glenmarie and deal with them there since it is within a short driving distance from where I am.
