So, it looks like traffic to Australia is being routed via the US AGAIN!, and it's been that way for the past week, at least.

Was hoping it would be fixed when everyone at TIME technical came back from the extended Merdeka holidays, but it doesn't seem so.

Why does this keep happening every few months?

Anyone that use this page?

https://www.time.com.my/checkmyrouter/

Checked for my account, it said the latest firmware is 2.07b12, but last time I manually updated to 2.10SG (following the first post here). hmm.gif
*
Why do I get an error message saying 'You have entered an invalid account number. Please try again.' when I put in my account number? Isn't it the 14-digit number in my email and bill? or is there a space or extra character somewhere?

Just put in the 12 digits (minus the last 2 digits) - 2299********. Still getting the same error.

Possibly your dlink router is of the earlier version, not in the auto upgrade list.

Anyway you can manually upgrade it.
Let me know if need help.

Thanks.

Yeah, that was what Time CS told me when I called them. My account number wasn't even valid using their call system process.

Anyway, before I even get around to having my DIR-850L upgraded by them, I'll probably replace it with an Archer C7. So I'm in no real urgency.

Let's hope setting up Time on a new TP-Link router is a straightforward process. Is there a definitive guide somewhere?

I've noticed that I get better performance and latency when I'm in a specific IP range.

Is it possible to request that TIME always assigns me in that specific range? Not a single static IP, but just in a 61.6.x.* set, where x is a range of numbers.

Hi,

I'm afraid it's not possible unless solid evidence to show indeed the performance is affected by that particular IP range.

Thanks.

Well, it's the persistent problem reported numerous times in all versions of this thread where traffic to Australia is routed via the Hong Kong and US, instead of directly to Australia, via Singapore. It started back when the cable broke and traffic, understandably, was routed via the US.

Since then, it has constantly occurred where when the IP address is 61.6.x.*, when x is above 150, it's fine and traffic is routed directly to Australia - latencies are slightly over 100.

However, when x is 125 and below, it's routed via the US - latencies are constantly above 200.

Have not reliably gotten IPs where x is between 125 and 150, so can't comment on those.

So, having said that, maybe you can provide feedback to the tech personnel at TIME, and get them to look into it, and rectify the problem.

And here's a current tracert, where the routing to equinix.com (8) in the US clearly is the problem

Hi Bro,

Very good findings indeed... I will forward to the network team to check.

Thanks.

I finally managed to get myself a 'good' IP earlier today.

As you can see, there's clearly a different routing and lower latency to Australia on different IPs.

It's better for me now, but please advise the network team to use the same lower latency routing for ALL their ports, so we don't have to 'fish' for good IPs.

Agreed. I should’ve waited. I guess my mistake for trusting them too much. Now I have to pay the price then.

Did you apply directly from TIME (via website), or through an agent/reseller?

Agents/Resellers say and promise a lot of things, and quite often, they can't deliver. And they are not answerable to TIME anyway.

A call to TIME on their CS number to verify that your property is ready for service is all it takes.

is there a problem?

Bandar Utama here. International traffic has been slow most of the week, and even slower since this morning.

Did most of the TIME backend tech people get sacked along with the 50,000 civil servants?

Anyone else in PJ area getting low upload speeds?

Download is around 100Mbps, as expected... but upload is only around 40-50Mbps.

Didn't really notice until I worked from home today, and noticed that my upload to my work server was a bit low, so I did a speedtest.

Just came back from a extended business trip overseas, and was told that TIME has upgraded the plans.

Do I need to reboot the BTU/modem, or just the router to get the higher speed?

Also, is provided DIR-850L capable of supporting over 100Mbps, or do I have to change to something better like the Archer C7?
