I was looking at powerline options. (The 500mbps with AC adaptor from TP-Link).
Which 1 would give me a better performance? Upgrading the Router or getting a powerline?
*
Don't use powerline.
They decrease the speed.
Upgrading router is your best choice.

Powerline limit their speed 100Mbps only.
Suggest you to change.
I will guide you if you need help setting up on a new router.
Make sure you have your PPPoE login credentials.
If don't have, obtain it from CS.

i havent bought yet..i still thinking either buy better AC router to replace Time given Dlink AC router
or

AC power line
next month i will buy either one
*
Extend Wi-Fi Signal then Upgrade.

Need LAN speed (Full speed) for TV, TV Box or Desktop then go for Powerline.
Mostly devices that don't have Wi-Fi capabilities.

I recommended to change router.
Save money, using power line then later on, no longer to use anymore.

What is yr budget?
Most people recommend ASUS, the reliable brand, cannot guarantee the quality of the product.
Just that after sales service is the main problem. (WARRANTY)

Buy powerline is you need to use LAN cable to connect to LAN port of the devices.
They have Wi-Fi Powerline too,
Just that they have in maximum is AC1200 only which is the same as the stock router.

Get a better router like AC1750 and above is recommended.
You can easily get full speed over Wi-Fi.

If you are on 100Mbps then choose Powerline or Router
If you are on 300Mbps then choose Router.

BTW, I'm using TP-Link Archer C9.
Since Powerline still at AC1200 then it will be same speed as the stock AC Dlink Router.

Thanks

Dear fellow forumers. Just got notified that I now have TIME coverage in my area. I'm currently subscribed to UNIFI. I'd like to ask if you've experienced any glaring issues with the TIME broadband so far before I pay the penalty and jump ship smile.gif Thanks.
*
No issues so far.
Stable, Faster and Better

You will never go wrong when you subscribe TIME.
You may apply easy switch rebate.
If your Unifi still under contract.

Thanks

Hi, since you're Unifi subscriber.
It is still on unifi contract

You may apply Easy Switch rebate RM 500
TIME will absorb your penalty
So no need to pay the penalty

ASUS router is better than Tenda.
You will never go wrong while using TIME

Thanks

If compare with tenda, which is better? How about asus ac1200?
*
ASUS is definitely better than Tenda.
Asus offer high range routers

Suggest you to go for AC1750 or AC1900.
What's your current stock router?

If your stock router is AC1200 then don't choose AC1200.
This bandwidth just so so only.

D-Link 850l
The stock router is not capable to get the speed as advertised.
Signal too.weak.

Thanks

I'm currently on d-link850. Thinking on which router to get, cause the sales person told me that the ac1200 is so-so only for the wifi signal.
*
Hi, try to upgrade to AC1750 and above.
AC1200 is the same thing applies to another router besides your router

QUOTE(Nocx @ Jun 4 2017, 11:39 AM)
Hi all, just got my TIME 100Mbps installed yesterday and have done multiple speedtests throughout the day but the highest I have seen is 42Mbps. Results range from 20 to 40Mbps. Is there something I can do?
*
Hi, test via LAN cable or WiFi?
If LAN, try to reset your router.

If WiFi, only 5GHz is capable supporting up to 100Mbps.
For 2.4GHz, it is not possible, if your devices support 2 X 2 Antenna, then is capable supporting up to that speed.

Any recommended router for better wifi range?

With my current stock DIR-850L at 1000 sqft area. I enter my kitchen then I no longer getting the WiFi.

If budget wise, which model of TENDA router I should get?

ASUS price is too overpriced for me.. Thanks  biggrin.gif
*
Tenda router is also suitable for you.
I recommend you to get Tenda AC15.
If you can top up then go for Tenda AC18
Both same bandwidth, just that Tenda AC18 is the latest version.
I will guide you once you bought the router.

Thanks

Hi man, Asus AC1750 is too expensive for me, what about TP-LINK AC1750 ? Since there's a promo on lazada, i might grab it right now.
*
Hi, TP-Link Archer C7 is suitable for you.

TP-Link routers also good.
I'm using C9 which is AC1900.
C7 AC1750 should be fine for you.
You may go for TP-Link Archer C7
I will guide you once you bought the router.

Thanks

my apartment just have a coverage for TIME. currently subscribe to Unifi. They mention have RM500 rebate for existing Unifi customer who want to change to TIME. I believe the rebate is for paying the penalty. Sound nice.

However, currently need to make decision, since HyppTV has become necessity in my daily live. Please note I don't subscribe to Astro whatsoever. Thus, HyppTV is the only medium for me to watch TV (regular TV show, but BabyFirst channel is must as my 1 year old daughter need to watch that for her entertainment).

Any suggestion from dear forumers?
*
Hi, the rebate switching from Unifi to TIME is that the RM 500 will be deducted from the monthly bill.

Thanks.

can some kind soul explain the pros & cons for Time, TM & Maxis, including their TV packages, price & service & reliability?

thanks.

i used Time before they are good, but don't know about hosueholds.
*
Pros - Stable, Faster and Better.

TIME offer 100% Fibre service.
What do you mean by households?

TM is overpriced for the 30Mbps package.
TM sometimes slow, TIME is better, no slowness. Depends on the line.

TIME is the cheapest ISP in Malaysia but lack of coverage, only high-rise buildings only.

Thanks

what about the TV package they come with.

or Astro still best & cheapest?
*
TIME with Astro IPTV is not worth it.
Overpriced. TIME with Astro IPTV doesn't have speed upgrade to 100Mbps yet.
Still stuck on the old plan --> 10Mbps

QUOTE(tgwkt @ Jun 5 2017, 02:34 PM)
Hi, I'm moving into my new condo soon. It's in Seksyen 13 Shah Alam. Currently we only have UNIFI and MAXIS providing internet.

Our management claims that they've engaged TIME to also enter and provide internet here but pending respond from TIME. This was several months back.

Alot of the residents want to apply for TIME compared to UNIFI and MAXIS but we're losing patience just waiting for something which might not even happen. Any idea what we can do to follow up on this matter?
*
Did your management submit the form to them.
Most people will go for TIME because of its cheaper price.
TIME is reliable. Suitable for streaming, gaming or downloading.
100Mbps as RM 149 consider as cheap if compared with TM or Maxis.
It takes time for them to install the infrastructure.
It takes about 1 - 3 months to complete.
You may subscribe UNIFI first then later use the easy switch RM 500 off promotion
This will waive your penalty.
How this works --> RM 500 will be deducted from your monthly bill.
For example, 1st bill free ( Depend on which package that you subscribed )
If you need further inquiries.
You may WhatsApp me.

Thanks

QUOTE(advocado @ Jun 5 2017, 03:32 PM)
so if want cable tv + fiber better go Maxis or TM?

i know time is good for internet.
*
TIME is good but if you subscribe with Astro IPTV you will get 10Mbos only.
No upgrade yet for TIME Astro IPTV customers.
Wait for TIME and Astro IPTV upgrade their speed first.

the TV share bandwidth with internet or separate?

The bandwidth not shared.
IPTV is to prevent interruptions.

QUOTE(muttly @ Jun 5 2017, 04:38 PM)
Don't bother waiting. There was supposed to be an email about it in April....they say July now.

If you can help it, try to settle for an alternative to Astro.

Sometimes delay, due JKR don't allow them.

Who are JKR?
*
Malaysian Public Works Department
Before the building can apply TIME.
They need to dig the road to lay fibre cable in it.
They need to approve with them.
For example, new building
No TM or Maxis Infrastructure yet then when TIME lay fibre cable in it need to submit JKR Approve Layout Form.
If TIME don't submit approve form then when TM contractor want dig the road and accidentally broke TIME fibre cable then the project delayed.
The reason why landed doesn't have TIME, because JKR doesn't want to approve to allow them to lay fibre cable under the road.

My reply was regarding the upgrade of speed for IPTV customers, not the installation of fibre to new units.
*
About the Speed Upgrade for TIME Astro IPTV is that Astro don't want to upgrade their speed.
For TIME Astro IPTV, this has nothing to do with TIME.
One customer complained about TIME Astro IPTV have to go to Astro and ask.

Last month announced a surprise news until now no news about the speed upgrade for Astro IPTV
About the JKR is for the infrastructure. For TIME Astro IPTV service, if got problems then straight to Astro CS.

Thanks.
