I'm using Dlink DIR-850L for my TIME 100Mbps now. Wifi slow and coverage is not so good. Will TIME charge me or extend my contract if i request them to change a new router?
*
Nope...you will either need to purchase one or sign up a new contract to get a free one.

Thanks.

Not doing anything special, just that my house comes with CAT6 wiring to every room and the main switch is located in a box next to the GPON. Space is so cramped to install additional ethernet switch to split out from the GPON, so I was trying to use the additional port from the GPON to connect to the CAT6 switches. Due to multiple concrete walls, wifi penetration is poor inside the rooms.
*
Hi,

Check whether your living hall (where you have the UTP wire landed) see if you have 2 cables there, if so, put your router here and you can utilize this to connect back to the Switch in the DB/SoHo Box.

Thanks.

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help me out troubleshoot the issue. Speedtest can only acheive max 40Mbps on a 300Mbps package.

Details
-Using powerline 500Mbps D-Link
-Current firmware for 850L modem is 2.06, didnt upgrade since Time tech came to install.
*
Hi,

Please test your powerliine end-to-end bandwidth. And test again what is the speeed you are getting from the D-Link Router on a cable connection from your computer.

You may upload your D-Link Router here : https://www.time.com.my/checkmyrouter

If the update fails, and you insist to use this Router, let me know, I will send you the firmware and you can manually update it yourself.

Thanks.

So I just updated the D-Link Router by using the method you shared. It was a success
However the speedtest results are unaffected, I will update the post later.

Refer below:

WiFi :- 12.4Mbps down/12.1 up (Tested with Note8)
Powerline :- 49.02 down/44.86 up (Tested with PC)
End to End :- TBD
*
Either your speed is still being updated. To verify that, you need to verify by doing a direct cable connection to your Huawei ONU.
Make sure your computer NIC is Gigabit, use a good at least 24AWG Cat5e / Cat6 cable to test.

Thanks.

FRIENDLY SUGGESTION

Due to old Routers that still being used / some users are using their own routers, in order to get more consistent SpeedTest Results, please kindly perform the Steps below :

Bypassing your Router, Direct SpeedTest via Huawei HG8240 / HG8240H ONU

1) Create a New PPPOE Connection in your computer.
2) Connect your computer network port directly to the LAN1 port of the ONU (fiber modem).
3) Double click the Connection that you have just created in your Computer.
4) Within 5 secs you will get connected to the Internet.
5) Perform a SpeedTest again via various Local Speed Test Servers.

Feel free to buzz me if you need further assistance.

Thanks.

I have bought a few internal hard discs, but most of them already seen red..gg.....bluray movies take up too much space..

btw, does anyone know whether the previous batch of modem or router use for 300mbps can support 1gbps after upgrade? If not, both have to be changed? forgot my modem/router model already....

Please take a photo of the devices & we will tell you biggrin.gif

anyone familiar with times broadband connected to new highrise?

i'm curious how the times broadband install all the equipment when the original MDF room was occupied by TM.
*
Anything can we help ? Lol

TIME can still install as MDF is supposed to be commonly shared amongst all providers.

Thanks.

Just sighted my modem and router..it's huawei (modem i assumed?) being hooked to DIR850L..would both equipment still be able to cope with the speed upgrade for the current subscribed speed of 300mbps? sorry tech amateur here smile.gif

Not sure how much would the upgrade speed be, as I have pretty inconsistent speedtest result today.sometimes may shoot up to slightly lower than 500mbps..weird..
*
Hi, please look at your Huawei ONU, it should be either HG8240 / 8240H... this ONU has no problem supporting at all...we have tested it on 1Gbps line at it performed flawlessly.
Here comes slight problem with Dlink DIR850L.. it has problem going up to 500Mbps or beyond, eventhough on LAN...rarely get beyond that...

You definitely need a better router if your speed really goes beyond 800Mbps.

Thanks.

Hi guys, im moving to condo soon and considering time internet with the new 500mbps rm149 (which rumor lauch this friday)
So far im at land house with new maxis rm89 30mbps.
If not mistake, our streaming/download is only capped around 10% of our plan right?
E.g. my maxis 30mbps, but download is around 3mb only.(not spees test, speed test will show 100% of speed)
So TIME will be the same?

Some say TIME support full optic fibre thus can reach 100% of speed given.
*
Hi,

So far there is NO capped or throttling. Anyway it does subject to FUP.
Do refer here :

QUOTE

This statement is not entirely true.
Though 100% Optical Fibre infra does tremendously improves the overall performance as relative to conventional copper ADSL/VDSL topology..
A proper network design, termination, equipment etc do play critical roles.
Thanks.
