Ya of course. Only thing is in the beginning, the traffic diversion/management was not optimum, hence the extreme slowness. But over the weeks, the traffic diversion was better managed, hence the not too bad situation we "enjoy" now.

My take on this is more that TM reluctantly opened its wallet and coughed up some cash to buy bandwidth on alternative routes. Something that more 'enlightened' service providers do preemptively as a contingency, so as to cause minimal disruption to their subscribers should a cable break happen somewhere.

Let's call a spade a spade. Cable breaks don't just happen to TM. They happen to everybody. TM just happens to be pretty bad at having a backup plan when one occurs. And to be fair about it, they are not the only one like that in the world... although a lot of people like to think so and it seems like that sometimes wink.gif. I've seen worse throughout the years, to be honest.

Seriously why would anyone pay more for TM's new 100mb package? It's such a scam... T_T
*
a) More money than sense
b) They have no other options
c) Blinded by the BIG numbers - 100MBPS!! OMG!!!
d) They want to prove TM right by showing that regardless on how they price their offerings, there will be people who will climb on board.

Pick One.

Points taken, however I myself am subscribed to this... 30mb package, and granted I do live with only a handful of other siblings, but even then the speed is pretty sufficient. I would live with a slower download speed than to throw more $$$ to one of Asia's most expensive ISPs. T_T

Sorry /rant.
*
And you have the right attitude, for those with no option. If more people were like you who subscribe, but reluctantly pay for their lower-end packages, they'll be forced to reevaluate their stand and business model.

As it is, complain as they like, there are WAY too many people here who are more than willing and waste no time in moving on up and tossing more $$$ at TM (and Maxis) every time a seemingly 'newer and better' package comes along.

So much so that the sales people that have been calling me to convince me to upgrade from the RM149 VIP to the RM179 Advance 30 are so arrogant, they were really shocked when I told them that not only am I NOT going to upgrade, I am in fact CANCELLING my subscription. Going overseas for 6 months after all. They can have their retention team call me. They'll just get another dose on what I have to say.

Uh huh, saw someone posted a while back on how stuck up their customer service was...

Honestly, I started off nice, calm and neutral enough. I knew she was probably just another under-paid, under-trained drone.

Paraphrased...

"Encik nak upgrade kepada pakej 30Mbps, tak? Hanya RM179, lebih RM30 saja"

"Terima kasih sajalah. Saya tak minat masa ini"

<some long-drawn out sales blurb about how great and wonderful their offering was>

"Maaf. Boleh cakap Bahasa Inggeris, tak? Lebih senang kalau boleh"

"Tak boleh. Saya nak cakap Bahasa Malaysia saja"

...oooookaaay...

"Kalau saya upgrade, boleh tak saya dapat balik pakej panggilan percuma?"

"Tak boleh. Kalau Encik hendak sangat panggilan percuma tu, kena bayar RM20 lebih"

"OK... bagaimana pula kalau saya minta gantungkan langganan Unifi saya selama 6 bulan. Boleh, tak? Saya akan ke luar negeri bekerja sampai bulan Oktober"

"Tak boleh. Kita jarang bagi tanggungan selama tu. Ada pun, kena tulis surat kepada pihak berkenaan"

"Kalau macam tu, saya cancel sajalah langganan Unifi saya sekarang"

"Mengapa nak cancel?"

"Ini tak boleh. Itu tak boleh. Cik ada tengok tak alamat kediaman saya ini?"

"Ummm..."

"Tengoklah. Tempat saya boleh langgani TIME Fibre Broadband"

<silence>

"Terima kasih, sajalah." <ends call>

It was for emphasis on the excitement. Same reason why the multiple exclamation marks were there and the OMG wasn't in lowercase.

Don't need to nitpick! G

is it me, or everyone also having problem when going to iflix.com it won't recognize you are an unifi subscriber.
*
If you are using a VPN or some other sort of service that hides or changes your original Unifi IP for privacy purposes or to access foreign content, the iflix servers will not be able to determine that you are actually a Unifi subscribe in Malaysia.

Try to change everything back to a vanilla Unifi connection state, and see if you have better luck.

is there a way to make TM call me to upgrade to the 30mbps with rm179?  I am still on 5mpbs.
*
Call to cancel your subscription, and they'll be in touch within 48 hours.

If your location has alternatives to Unifi, they'll be in touch within 24 hours.

For those people still on VIP5 and VIP10, I suggest saying no a few times when they call, even if you are willing to upgrade to their Advance packages. The offers will keep getting better.

Just received my 3rd call from them today, but I said 'no' again, since I will be moving to TIME Fibre.

That's my plan too.. Initially wanted to upgrade a couple months back but decided against it, primarily cuz they refused to upgrade the ailing equipment with newer ones and there were rumours that better hardware will be given out, as evident by the newer routers. Only a few months left and been politely declining till I'm offered a sweet deal. Will play the TIME card next time..
*
New equipment, free first month (or three), free call package, better HyppTV package... Just squeeze them for everything you can, regardless of whether you are going to make use of them.

And yes. Helps a lot if you are out of contract and no longer held hostage.

As for the TIME card, I think they can call your bluff by checking your service address.

Hi guys.

I am trying to connect my PS4 using PPPoE username and password. But PS4 failed to obtain IP address. Do I need to log in to my modem to change anything or any suggestion? (My modem is INNACOMM RGX4400)
*
Why are you trying to plug your PS4 into the modem? Just plug it into the router.

Anyone else notice slow downloading the last few days from Akamai CDN, specifically updating iOS apps from the App Store?

Cycling between 175.143.*, 175.136.*, 210.195.* and 110.159.* IPs not making any difference.

Is it time to ask TM to change the Unifi port again?

Just curious, how's would the contractor be installing the unifi in an apartment or condo?

i) Do they need to lay the fibre from somewhere?
ii) Do they need to hack or drill the wall?
iii) Roughly how long does it take for them to install everything?

Thank you.
*
I believe it depends on which Unifi package you are opting for.

I've been told that the current rule-of-thumb is that they will use VDSL2 via the existing copper telephone cable for anything up to 30Mbps.

Anything above that - i.e. Unifi Advance 50Mbps - and they will endeavour to pull a fibre optic cable from your comms cabinet and utilise FTTH, subject to availability in your development, because the quality of VDSL2 degrades rapidly at higher bandwidths.

Yes, SKMM. Based on my own experience, MCMC is faster than CFM. Just straight go to MCMC.

Well, I have been a kaki komplen from broadband to credit cards. I gave them chances but they don't appreciate it, then just straight complain to the authorities. That's my style. tongue.gif
*
Pffftt! Buy 1 lot of TM shares, attend their AGMs and EGMs, take their door gift, eat their food, THEN komplen. whistling.gif

Yes, tested both Wired and wireless (in fact found my WiFi having slightly faster ping time, but i dont know what is going on)

tested on 2 laptops and 2 mobile, same results

If that is the case, then I'll just call TM come and check my BTU, really appreciate on your advise!! notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
In the meantime, have you tried resetting/recycling your BTU to obtain a fresh connection with a new IP?

You may get less 'congestion'.

Can't guarantee that it will work, but it's worth a try rather than having to wait for a response from TM.

blink.gif then what happens to those who earlier upgraded with discounted rate and bounded with 2years contract?

sorry didn't follow this thread.  hmm.gif
*
If you mean those people who previously upgraded from VIP5 to VIP10, and went from paying RM149 to RM179, I think all of them have already taken up the offer of being upgraded to Advance 30. So, no potential conflicts there.

rclxms.gif ohh i see, this cleared my doubt.

tot tm marketing department being so unfair to those people.
*
Yes, with this recent free upgrade, everything is now pretty straightforward in terms of Unifi offerings.

10Mbps for RM149

Add RM50 to get 20Mbps more... Advance 30 at RM199
Add RM50 to get 20Mbps more... Advance 50 at RM249
Add RM50 to get 50Mbps more... Pro 50 at RM299

Only people crying murder now are the late/new subscribers of the Advance 30/50 packages who are paying RM199/249, instead of RM179/229 that was offered to the early birds and VIP upgrades.

RM179 discounted 20 ringgit RM 199 include RM20 voice plan

A lot of the early birds and VIP plan upgrades got the RM20 voice plan included for free.

This isn't possible now for new subscribers, who have to pay RM199, which is why I said they can cry murder and have cause to complain.

Just to let you know many who have got the RM 20 voice plan for free have this revoked from their plan... I'm one of them. laugh.gif
Not a big issue for me because I don't even install the phone set. laugh.gif
*
All great for you, obviously rclxms.gif

The new subscribers don't even have that option of refusing the voice plan and pay RM20 less.

Now, if only they let me detach the voice plan from my one remaining Unifi VIP subscription and just pay RM129 for 10Mbps.

Guys, I just subscribed unifi, installer came and said it's shared BTU with maxis, previous owner used Maxis, so in order for them to install I need to buy the BTU, logged the case to TM, 1 week no response, so I have decided to buy the BTU unit, can I buy second hand unit, is it locked or preprogrammed? can I use it for my new line?
*
Not sure what they told you, but as a new subscriber signed on to a 2-year contract, you are ENTITLED to a brand-new BTU (aka 'the modem').

Maybe you want to take up the issue at your closest TMpoint.

Hi, Thanks but I tried, TMpoint said I need to re register in order for them to create dummy address, I tried to reregister but port is full... mad.gif  mad.gif  mad.gif

So have to stick back to my old application.

Planning to get a secondhand unit, my concern is the BTU is locked to a house? or is it configurable?
*
A BTU is usually 'locked' to a Unifi port during the installation process by the technician/installer so it is recognised as a valid device to connect to the TM HSBB infrastructure.

That said, I still don't think you should pay unnecessarily for something you should be getting for free as a new subscriber. The fact that there was a previous owner who had a Maxis subscription has nothing to do with it.

Assuming you haven't paid anything yet and are not desperate, threaten to cancel the application outright. Someone 'higher up' will probably call you within 48-72 hours offering to help you clear up the problem.
