Of course, I'm not saying fake cases la. If the speed is really that low and I'm not an IT Savvy today, how? They still need to entertain me. I can plug in my LAN and all but still doesn't improve?

I was talking about genuine cases and not those fake cases. What about those uncles and aunties at home? I doubt they know how to do all these. If reset port doesn't work, they will insists to just get a technician to come over. As simple as this.
*
Then yes, I do agree that you have a legitimate case.

Just that when you said 'act stupid' and 'force them to change', there is a whiff of trying to play the system rolleyes.gif. I was just pointing out that it's sometimes not that easy to do that these days.

A few months back, I was asked to help someone my mum knows from church. He was one of these grumpy, argumentative uncles and was dismissive of everything the guy from the Unifi CS line requested of him to help troubleshoot the issue he had with his Unifi, insisting that the problem was on their side and definitely not his. And when the technician turned up, it turned out the problem was his after all and there was nothing wrong with the line, and if he had done as the CS guy on the phone asked, it would have solved the problem there and then. Needless to say, he was charged the RM50 technical assistance fee for the house call.

Took me ages to convince the uncle that aside from his firmly-held belief that TM was an incompetent and corrupt GLC, it is not always their fault every time there was a problem with his Unifi. It was still quite hard for him to swallow his pride and go to TMpoint with me along to plead his case... but the RM50 was waived in the end.

What I took away from that experience is that TM don't give you the benefit of the doubt as much as they used to, and will not hesitate to use that RM50 charge, especially in areas where they are short on technical staff for house calls and lots of people 'yanking their chain'. And sometimes, I don't blame them, especially when there are so many people needing legitimate help.

And that's my 10 GST-adjusted sen. Take away from it what you will thumbsup.gif.

Guys, wanted to ask. What is the stock router currently supplied by TM?
*
If you are referring to the one provided for new subscribers, in high-penetration areas like cities and big towns, it's the D-Link DIR-850L. In lower-penetration areas, you may still get the Innatech RG4332 or RGX4400, depending on what they have in their local storeroom.

What speed are you guys getting on your 100mbps connection? I'm getting around 93-94mbps on lan in the unifi speed test. Should i complain?
*
Probably not, since it's well above the 'best effort' threshold.

To be honest, a lot of people on 100Mbps would probably be really grateful for 93-94Mbps.

Ok. Thanks. My housing area is in Nilai. Still new and at the moment the TM contractors has just finished installing cable for unifi. They estimate unifi will be available in my area another 2 weeks time before raya. Also i notice there's no more RM179 package for 30MB  sad.gif .
*
Nilai is probably a good place to expect to get the most current routers available, as opposed to leftover unwanted ones.

Yeah, I think it's been 2-3 months since the RM179 promotion ended. TM dumped the previously optional RM20 Voice Pack into the package, marketing gave high-fives all round and called it a day. dry.gif

guys. wanna ask, is it possible to upgrade from 5 > 30 even if the account is not under my name? it belongs to my ex-tenant which "disappear" since last year. couldn't contact him at all.

thanks all
*
Probably not, since they probably want an NRIC for the upgrade process.

But why would you want to use the same account anyway? Might as well have it under your name in a new account since it's going to be a fresh 2-year contract anyway.

Hmm ok. Hopefully i'll get the DIR-850L router. At least should be better to be used temporarily before changing to a new one. Also now unifi agent currently promoting at my area saying you need to book now if not you have to wait long because there's only 8 port for connection for each of the box at the pole. What's with the voice package anyway, i thought it is already bundled together previously.
*
Probably just a ploy to get some quick sign ups for the commissions.

All Unifi subscriptions come with a voice line, but previously you had the option of whether you want to have it in pay-on-use at a set rate per minute, or if you wanted to sign up for the Voice Pack for RM20 and get 600 free minutes to use per month. Now, the Voice Pack and become the Voice Plan and you get it as part of the Advance package.

hmm..true also..

what are my options (beside going to TM center to cancel current acc)?

1. switch names for the current account?
2. cancel online?

don't really have the time to go TM center actually to handle the cancellation.
*
I think you should go to a TMpoint in person and do a cancellation of the previous account. Bring some proof that you are the owner of the address, and tell them you wish to cancel it. You should do this so that your address is not blackmarked, which may cause problems in the future.

At the same time, just apply for the Unifi package under your name.

You may be able to do it through the phone if you can't spare the time to go to a TMpoint, but it may be easier to sort everything out in person, especially if the previous account has some outstanding amount to be paid. You don't want to pay it after all.

I was thinking the same thing. Anyway i'm waiting for UNIFI to list the address online so that i can register online and get 1 month free rather than registering from agents.
*
Sounds like a good idea.

In case you live in an apartment complex, you may want to double- and triple-check that TIME Fibre Broadband ia not planning to be available anytime soon, before tying yourself down to Unifi for the next two years. wink.gif

I'm actually renting it (as the main tenant), and been staying there for 3 years. Unfortunately, i don't think i have proof that i'm renting there, as it was only verbal contract between me and landlord. and i doubt she ever wanna accompany me to handle such things at TM center.

but the thing is, could i apply for a new account even when the current account is active? (only 1 port in the house)

btw thanks for ur response smile.gif

That's where I think the problem could come from when I suggested that you go in person to a TMpoint.

I believe the moment they put the application address into the system, they will see the existing one. That's when you may have to clarify that you're both tenants and he has gone missing, and you don't want to be responsible for any outstanding amount he may have.

If you are unlucky, you will get a straight 'no'.

If you are luckier, you may be asked to speak to a more senior person where you have to 'cerita panjang'. Hopefully, he or she will be sympathetic and will help you resolve the situation, but may want to see some tenancy documents.

If you are really lucky, it will just get approved and they resolve the logistical mess themselves.

I think it's worth a try in your case, since you have nothing to lose. thumbsup.gif

I still don't suggest doing it through the phone. The frontline CS personnel there mostly don't have the authority to deal with messy cases.

and do hope the account can be upgraded even if under the old tenant name though, don't wanna bind my own name to the account for extra 2 years  laugh.gif
*
Good point... as long as there is nothing outstanding that they want you to pay up before doing the upgrade wink.gif

Again, it's worth a try, resolved through an agent or otherwise. They may be desperate enough to want the extra monthly subscription coming in and overlook all the discrepancies thumbsup.gif

thanks for your advises bro. btw, is it true that if apply via agent no 1 month free right?
*
Like a lot of things here in Malaysia, it can be 'negotiated'.

It mostly depends on how good the agent is and how much he wants the signup. If he can't get a free month for you, I'm sure there are other agents that can tongue.gif .
