Is Galayx PAG6800XT a good choice for my mobo since i am using stock power supply.
*
i think it'll be better to get a 7300GT AGP.consumes less power.and newer architecture. laugh.gif

wow.not bad.you're motherboard has a PCIE slot.so yeah you can use the 7300GT.and it's also recommended to change your PSU to a pure power PSU that has at least a 400w rating. smile.gif

The 73XX, 76XX series of cards arent really power hungry monsters, they dont even need any extra power connectors to the cards themselves, so running a 400 watter PS should be more than sufficient, even if your going to OC your card. thumbup.gif
*
yeah they're not as power hungry as those 6800 series or whatever lah but its just that i don't trust CM extreme power 380w. laugh.gif especially if he's gonna oc his cpu/gpu.sure unstable. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Rojak44 @ Jun 13 2007, 11:10 AM)
btw if the model of the GC is the same while one is AGP and other is PCI-E is it the performance same? AGP only can 8X while PCI-E can 16X.. curious about this.
*
not too sure on this but iianm using PCIE = higher bandwidth.and certain AGP cards have their clocks lowered compared to the PCIE version.

iianm the 7300GT will perform better then the 6800XT..and its like rm350 for an agp version.oh well,up to you laugh.gif

I paired my P4 2.8 with P4P800-X with a pair of Corsair's DDR400 ram and it managed to do 3.82Ghz. Was earlier running with hynix rams and it only did 3.3Ghz.

So the max stable OC was 3.82Ghz.
*
whoa okay..thats some nice oc thumbup.gif looks like you really need a good pair of rams to oc well with the P4P800x.

now still trying to get mine to go over 2.7Ghz. doh.gif

Mine's a northwood.btw nice scores there for your 6800 laugh.gif mine only managed 4.1k with my 6800GS oc-ed in 3dmark05 laugh.gif

QUOTE(nightzstar @ Jun 23 2007, 06:18 PM)
Eh any psu to recommend for my rig? I am not oc maniac. I kept my rig config to stock. No need so high end ones. Just reliable and enough juice

Yup, prescott really hot compare with northwood. But OC performence is much better than northwood.
Nop, not using watercool. Using XP-90C. Idle 38-42 degree and load is 45-52(max) degree.
*
whoa those temps are very nice for a proc clocked over 4Ghz.must be using a delta fan? laugh.gif

QUOTE(budakdegilz @ Jun 24 2007, 02:49 AM)
just thinking...can i OC my P4 1.7GHz *willmate??!! how far can i OC??

yes you can oc your P4.it depends on your mobo, rams and psu on how far you can oc.also the proc itself lah. smile.gif

Silverstone Strider? Whoa 560W that is more than enough. I just got one 6800xt, one pata hdd,one sata hdd,cd rom and dvd rom. How much is it? my budget limited to rm100
*
then you can try to have a look at the Enermax FMAII series.affordable pure power PSUs that are pretty decent and stable. smile.gif

you know la....using p4p800x the vcore reading gila gila 1. mine at auto reads at 1.6v+ like what you see in the screenshot. sad.gif

i try set to 1.55v and try oc see how it perform. what i impress on this northwood is that the temp. This morning i switch on and the idle temp is 26C at stock!! even last night i try at 3.36GHz the temp is not over than 42C after looping 3dmark. Nor i worry more on my northbridge oz the temp is something like 40C+- tongue.gif
*
yo congrats on buyin a new proc laugh.gif eh,how did you get the NB temp for ur P4P? blink.gif

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jun 27 2007, 07:00 PM)
just for advice... for my pentium 4 640 which happens to be a 3.2Ghz 2MB and 800mhz chip, i am using a stock cooler at the moment and its idling at55 degrees . I do know that the prescott cores are hot but for advice since i believe there will be expert advisors here, what can i do to reduce the idle temp to around 40 degrees.

And iat the moment i can only afford HSF sorta cooling. WHat do you guys/ girls suggest me to get?

Thank you for advice:)

On another note, i notice that my printer and usb ports are heating up, what do you suggest that i do to cool this down as well?
*
a cheap alternative is to clean up your HSF first, use some high performace TIM like AS5 or MX1 and also lap your heatsink base laugh.gif that should drop the temps by at least 5c.and it costs less then rm50 biggrin.gif

or you can just get a good 3rd party HSF whistling.gif

btw guys,im facing a problem with my rig now.it just wont boot.everything is running properly but there's no display.and when there is it says NTLDR is missing doh.gif any suggestions?

u're lucky tht he refunded u.coz actually the proc is working, but its not fast only.anyways, wat happened to ur 6800? still unsold?u're planning to get a quad core kentsfield is it?
oh yea guys,another question.i need another opinion.i wan buy a new PSU.ard 300+bucks range.wat i've noted are:

Acbel 500Watt -300 bucks
Silverstone Strider ST56F 560Watt -350 bucks
maybe Cooler Master Real Power Series

which one would u recommend? and pls state reason y?
i wan a PSU which has very stable 12V and gives my proc stable Vcore.my cheap PSU Vcore can fluctuate up to 0.050V when operating even at idle.thts limiting me from my OC.i've settled much on my RAM problem as i managed to squeeze till 256MhzX2 from my KVR PC2700 BT-J RAM after installing some RAM heatsinks.now the problem is my VCORE!!!!

my PC auto restarts when VCore drop below 1.550V.actually i set my BIOS at 1.6V.VCore currently can fluctuate between 1.548-1.600.if i were to set my Vcore higher by a notch,it would be 1.7V already.very dangerous to me.but i've seen ppl in other forums using air cooling did tht before at 1.7V for a northwood.
*
i'd go for the Strider 560w.known to be a great PSU and also a stable one. biggrin.gif

now running at 235*14 tongue.gif

thats normal for P4P800x mobos i guess..mine's the same too.set it to 1.55v at bios and check at cpuz its 1.6v doh.gif

Oh you used the P4P800-X before?I tried to search around the function in bios before but end up couldn't found any settings. sad.gif So until now i cannot change the divider on the Asus mobo. sad.gif
*
so far for my P4P800x i can only change the divider between 1:1 and 5:4 by changing the DDR speed.if i want 1:1 then i have to set it to DDR266 in the bios.if i want 5:4 i have to set to Auto. laugh.gif btw thats when using a pair of DDR400 rams.

now im having a weird problem with a pair of DDR400s.sometimes can boot up sometimes nothing at all.once it booted up and ran for 2days then suddenly came out the BSOD sweat.gif all those at stock clocks too.

Wao,so weired.Problem will only comes after 2 days using. sweat.gif Is it the bios itself not so stable?

Between,i have something to share with you about my 3D mark 03 on my 9550.See the pictures below. You will get shocked. rclxub.gif
*
yeah exactly.very weird.but i've updated my bios from v1009 to v1010.003 thats dated 29/3/2006.its the latest i can find.and it says BETA BIOS in the website too.will test it out soon.

and 17k in 3dmark03 with a 9550? shocking.gif are you sure that's not a glitch or something?200+fps for Troll's Lair and 150+fps for Wings of Fury. blink.gif

btw what version of omega drivers are you using?

edit : now i've successfully booted into windows with 2xKVR400s with the latest bios.will let it run overnight to see if the BSOD still happens or not.
