I have been scouring the internet for reviews. From what I read it seems unconclusive. They say it's not as good as flagship but they never compared with each other or those in the price segment conclusively.

Hi All,

My 2 years old Mi3 just died on me last night, looking for a even budget phone.

1. Brand. any

2. Budget. below 600, best if <RM500

3. Specs. Don't know what spec is needed for my use. primary use is for google map / waze. so strong GPS is a must. others is just normal everyday website browsing. minimal apps running, no gaming. I'm in kampong, so reception is quite poor that drain many battery. prefer to have dual sim cause i wish to travel but no budget to go oversea for past 2 years.

4. What you need in the phone cheap enough that won't hurt my wallet when drop on various location (my mi3 dropped almost every other month). Very very good GPS because im stupid and can't leave home without GPS.

The Alcatel Pixi 3 is the cheapest here, but the 3.5 inches screen won't get you too far. Maybe I can suggest you Leagoo Alfa 4, Lenovo A1000 and Asus Zenfone Go ZB452KG?

Thanks for the suggestion lylee73. Will look into the models that you shared. I need this phone as a backup only, so size does not matter. Im already using HW Mate 8 and S7E as my primary phone wink.gif

Doogee X5 Pro should be an ideal choice based on your requirements. But I would recommend you top-up a little bit for some other good phones on paper such as Asus Zenfone Go ZC500TG and DingDing Iron 2.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 and the Huawei Honor 5X shouldn't be too shabby for your option. The Zenfone Max would give you a lot of battery power, but the only problem was that the processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, was used in entry-level phones (e.g: Xiaomi Redmi 2), so don't expect anything too good if you are going to game on. I would prefer the J7 over the other two, but if gaming isn't your cup of tea, then go for the Zenfone Max.

1. Brand - Any

2. Budget - About 2k+.

3. Specs - Large screen 5" and above.

4. What you need in the phone -
GPS and Waze
Social media and messaging (Facebook, Linkedin, WhatsApp)
Web browsing
Some emailing (Gmail, Microsoft OWA)
Not much work, but can open documents without lagging too much
Decent camera (not a photography buff)

Currently have a 3 year old Samsung Note II. It's lagging and hanging. Using a custom ROM on it.

Thinking of the Note 5, but I could only stand the original Note II software for less than a year before I had to root it and install a more streamlined ROM. Not sure if newer Samsung phones are better now.

Basically, I'm looking for something that can last about 3 years so I don't have to keep reinstalling stuff like on the Note II that I'm having. I just want it to work, since my office work already requires me to install and customise new systems all the time. biggrin.gif

1. Brand. Any

2. Budget. Below 1.5k

3. Specs. >2gb RAM, if below 32gb must have expandable memory, must be Ori Local set, don't want AP/imported.

4. What you need in the phone,
-great battery life
-not many bloatwares, not many bugs and issues.
-nice looking screen
-smooth web browsing and youtube
-decent camera
-some casual gaming (PvZ2 those types of game that is not too demanding)

and most importantly, I would be using this phone for at least 3-4 years, so want something that can last long, reliable, great build quality and won't have issues after 2-3 years.

Right now I'm considering either the Oneplus X, Nexus 5x, Honor 7, and the RN3 pro and Huawei 5x as well.
Feel free to recommend me any other models, like used/previous years flagships etc
