Sony is trillions (in yen) in debt. Vita will be cast aside so that they can focus on PS VR.

Eyh? You're the first to mention about Son'y debt. The only news I heard for Playstation Department that is, that they're contributing to 70% of Sony's revenue.

But hey, most big companies are in debt in some way or another. They borrow big, and make the minimum payment, and the profit that they make are use to invest in new stuff.

actually PSV has a very good hardware. It just needs killer games. What made PSP a good handheld? Games.

we need Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, Monster Hunter, etc.

If only Sony can woo Capcom back, I am confident Sony can sell Vita once again. not to mention the special editions, the bundles etc. I have a 3DS, a DS and its a know fact that power goes to Vita. the issue is not enough games. they also need to find a way to sell those NA or JP PSOne games in every PSN store, regardless of its region. PS Vita's emulation capability is a major selling point.

Its sad to see Sony giving up on Vita so easily.

If only language is simple patch download, I believe more games will be bought hence more support it gets. But every dang language requires you to buy the game again. In my opinion, this sucks. -.-"

good point. However language is just one of the barriers. They need to sort out the rights and licensing issues with the publishers, not to mention the publishers that have gone kaput. lots of paperwork and legal issues. That's why its a bit hard. I would love to play The Legend of Dragoon in English on my Vita. that would rock. personally i have no issue re-buying again some of the psone games, as i pirated them in the olden days. its like finally giving the money where its due lah laugh.gif Some of the games, the psp games, we not even released in certain psn store. take MGS Peace Walker for example. i just downloaded GT PSP to play on my Vita. awesome game.

It "had" good hardware. When we have smartphones that cost as much as a Vita and beats it in processing power now a days, you see the issue there.

Not to mention, making games available on Appstore/Playstore is damn near free. Why would say... cashcom, bother to spend on a high sum of licensing fees, royalties, piles of legal bullshit paperwork on developing for a nearly-dead system when they only have to do quarter the paperwork by releasing rubbish games on other mediums?

Sony never even gave 2 shits about the Vita in the first place.

True, I know there's a lot of licensing here and there with publishers and such. I'm just frustrated that this thing is not made easier. A game is consider successful if it gets ton of sale in the first month, but vita games are usually japanese or chinese in the first few month. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Not a lot PSOne and PSP games available here at R3 store and that also sucks. All PSN should be combined and then create a large library for all. My PS Vita TV would definitely benefit if it has Crash Team Racing, WWF & WWE, Digimon games from PSOne era.

If the world can combine and unite as one country, then yeah sure... that can happen. But unfortunately, different regions different laws, so it ain't happening anytime soon.

I mean, look at steam, most of the games are available on all the countries it support. Why can't playstation do the same?

the keyword is most. There are more PC than a console so the risk to adding games in Steam are lower.
How many PS hardware in Malaysia can play PS1/PSP/PS2 classic? By now, the number must be insignificant versus the cost and the maximum amount they can charge.

Err "most", not all.
Also, that's only on the surface. Over the years Steam has put region restrictions in place for games sold on their store too.

Finally, the PC market is very different to the console market. They are not exactly comparative to each other, business wise.

I think the region restriction you're talking about is the restriction on bought games rather than finding them on the store. And that is simply because in some regions, the games are sold cheaper due to currency value.

Yeah I know the market is different for PC and Consoles, but it does seem they're not doing moves like what steam is doing because they plan to sell their Playstation Now, which allows us to play games no matter on what platform (Console or PC) as long as we have good enough internet connection. But the caveat is, it is a service, which we need to pay every month to get access to, and it's not cheap. huhu

In the bigger picture this is the trend now. Selling u services as the value of ownership becomes less and less. You only pay what you want to use or entertain yourself. We are just griping because we are not used to it but future generations will probably understand. One of the other impact will also be resale market. Actually this is impacting those more.

this post is totally unrelated to piracy, more towards just sharing homebrew stuffs, if mod thinks that this is still violating the rules here, let me know and the post will be gone
not sure if anyone follows the PSV hack scene, but Henkaku PS Vita hack is already made on 3.60 few weeks back. Of course, there are tonnes of emulators emerging, but the best homebrew so far is Moonlight. Allows you to stream games from your PC if you are using a nVidia card. I've tested with Don't Starve and also Burnout: Paradise, both played out just nice, those that are still in FW 3.60 can go give it a try biggrin.gif

Exciting/sad news of the day, we have confirmation that vita piracy is real, latest freebie is Odin Sphere.

Another PSA, please don't download the "free" Lego Harry Potter, it formats your memory card upon execution.

Have a nice day.
