QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Feb 22 2018, 04:43 PM) true haha, i missed that part my bad some random thoughts, i realized that with less gears i actually enjoyed photography more. used to have multiple primes (24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 150mm) and zooms ( 10-20mm, 12-40mm, 18-135mm, 70-200mm) and i always worried of what lens to bring out for a shoot/ trip and what not to. changing lenses on the go is equally as frustrating and kills the joy. finally end up buying a 24-70mm (used to think that 24-70mm is like the jack of all trade but master of none as it's not super wide or super tele), it was the best decision i've made so far. i can shoot everything from landscape to portrait to cars with a single lens and its super useful for making videos too. now all i have is a body + a lens and it fits my usage really well. yeah, changing lens during a trip sometimes feel quite irritating myself especially in a crowd... that's why i restricted myself to bring only one lens (tammy 17-50) which can cover most of my situation except super wide view or subjects that are quite far away. waiting technology to get much more advanced first to justify the body upgrade... just wish to have a better auto focus and better high ISO performance from current 600d for now it is adequate for me

QUOTE(Axelredan @ Feb 23 2018, 03:28 PM) Thanks for the reply ... What about portrait lenses for larger scenery where you wanna capture more of the background as well as the model? since you got EOS M series, why not try the 22mm f2 stm? got a lot of good review...

QUOTE(Axelredan @ Feb 25 2018, 02:05 PM) then how come in the video the guy says "24mm best for getting all the background in for portrait photography" while "80mm best for getting bokeh and focusing only on the subject"?? if everything was achievable with a zoom lens or telephoto lens i dont think prime lenses would be necessary to begin with, no? If you got kit lens, maybe you can try out to zoom at 24mm and 50mm (or longer if your kit lens permit) Then see which perspective suit you and your style. Also see whether you need extra things like bigger aperture and etc that you can only get from prime lens or much expensive zoom lens.

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Feb 26 2018, 08:31 PM) It looks really promising and it's not that expensive. I'm seriously considering it. However, the 4k is just a gimmick. The crop factor on top of the 1.6 crop and the lack of proper AF then makes it hard to use. Not to mention the slow frame rate. Hopefully the photo and video quality would be good. Yup considering it too if similar performance to m5 which i think a bit too expensive

QUOTE(Axelredan @ Mar 7 2018, 05:48 PM) Okay guys one more question, I'm buying a Canon 50mm f1.8 stm Would it be completely compatible with my Canon EOS M6? I heard that focal length can change or something so I wont get 50mm like DSLR (not sure though) need to use it with adapter for eos m cameras, focal length will stay the same

Anyone got this problem with their 50mm f1.4?

QUOTE(corad @ Apr 9 2018, 03:25 PM) With a budget of ~RM3k-4k what USED body should I go for ? Video isn't a big thing for me but would be nice to be able to have the feature once in awhile to experiment with. Currently looking at 5dmk2 (with Magic Lantern) , saw a few units for RM2.5k-3.2k ... or would newer cams like 750D / 70D be a better choice ? Not too fussed if it's full frame or crop but high ISO usability would be a real plus. In storage I have : 1Dmk2 (bad ISO, cumbersome charging) Canon M3 (way too slow and unwieldy with my lenses) Will be using the "new" body as main camera. a new 800D

QUOTE(corad @ Apr 9 2018, 04:17 PM) thanks ! haven't looked at camera bodies for a long time so wasn't at the top of my mind so now it's 6D vs 800D ? i'm in a cross road too whether wanna stay with apsc or go full frame... if wanna stay, 800D or newer model that come later will be my choice... if go FF, i wanna save for 5d mark 3 or 6d mark 2... but i am still too poor for it PS: got many used 6d out there with good price as well

QUOTE(Axelredan @ Apr 19 2018, 04:12 AM) Have a 50mm f1.8 lens. I get blurry photos sometimes, especially in HDR mode. How do I reduce blur? whats the best shutter speed for on-hand shooting? (lazy sometimes to setup gorillapod). Usually for 50mm, I will use 1/50 and above with cranking up the ISO as well..

QUOTE(Axelredan @ Apr 19 2018, 12:16 PM) I see. Crank up the ISO for what though? Does it have any effect on blurriness? (during daylight or well lit environment) to compensate the lose of light (maintaining same exposure) if you increased the shutter speed... if daylight or well lit environment, should be no need cranked up much... slow shutter speed will resulting in some shakes unless you put it in stabilized spot like tripod and etc. Lens with image stabilization also helps in reducing blurry images...

QUOTE(LegendLee @ May 28 2018, 10:11 AM) Just a word of advice on the Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM The focusing mechanism failure rate is higher than usual. I’ve one which failed on me back in 2011 after using for 2 years. It was giving me issues 10% of the time. I sold it off for cheap. When it works, it’s amazing for its price though. So do consider getting it, but control your expectations regarding its longevity. You might just get a unit with a shorter lifespan. Mine focusing ring moved as well when on auto focusing sometimes. Scare one day will completely failed. But the image quality i can say quite good especially when you stop it down a bit.

QUOTE(jason111785 @ Jun 3 2018, 03:02 AM) guys.. i am planning to get the EOS M50. Wanted to step up from my "phone photography" for travelling.. is M50 a good choice? Also, I'm in dilemma.. either getting 1) Body with 15-45mm kit lens or 2) Body only and get the ES-M 20mm F2 lens or 3) Body with Kit lens + additional ES-M 20mm F2 lens Main usage will be travel photography.. not so much on video. Maybe will try also go into milky way photography... please advise... No use an eos m50 before but i will go for 3rd option based on my experience. If you lazy to change lens, get first option for now. Try use that lens and figure out what focal length you like most before upgrading / add in the future. Option two ok for you too if you seldom zoom in zoom out.
