Hi all sifus here.

one noobie question. I got a lenz which is Canon EFS 10-22mm 1:3.5-4.5 USM

what does the 1:3.5-4.5 USM stands for? I knew it was aperture max/min but? does it means i can shoot only with 3.5 - 4.5 to get best results?
*
different aperture for different things u shoot... what are u shooting?

QUOTE(ahniss @ Oct 4 2016, 04:14 PM)
i use it mostly to shoot group photo. and i found out that my picture always blurred at both side (altho im using high aperture).
so im curious what does the 1:3.5-4.5 USM stands for ..
*
blur could really mean many things, out of focus or really wide till the focus points also already run...
the number is the aperture number, while USM means ultrasonic motor, u can read them here

Sent my 50L for service.
There is a back focus issue.
Got it back and checked... Problem persist.

As usual, they tried the stop down and it'll be find trick.
But lol. I didn't get that lens to use at f/4.

Knowing the notoriety of this lens with back focus.... I don't think they can fix it at all.
*
then how like that?

Update :
canon service centre manage to fix it.
After heading there twice, they've managed to get the focus back on track. Kudos to the service engineer whom I heard worked on it for several hours.
Total turn around time was 3 working days and cost less than rm200. I'm a cps member but I don't think this has anything to do with it.
I've been using this lens for over 3 years.
It got this bad when my friend dropped it. I believe I kinda know what happened. Some of the elements are shifted inside. This lens has very tight tolerance to correct aberrations. You get a shit lot of spherical aberration when it's misaligned and the same aberration will cause the lens to backfocus.

Just have to fix it the best they can. It's not an easy task, but we will see.
I'm using it for videos mainly so it's not that bad.
Just that now it has no resale value and the sharpness might be affected too.
*
200 with all that work is like super cheap la!

Yeap.
Really happy with what they have done.
They don't charge for inspection too. I think Nikon does.

Definitely went the extra mile to fix it for me.
*
does the charges differ for non-cps customers?

It's almost always cheaper when I check price and compare with YL, some more YL very negotiable

haha i guessed so, but sometimes really depends on what u want to get and see if u like the "feel" when u deal with them... so far touch wood the gears i got from them were pretty surprisingly sweet smile.gif
