Receive the card on Feb - racked up 700k points in 3 months. Redeemed business class ticket Mel - KL today, but noticed that it's not possible to choose the seats?

Hi,

Wanna ask can I cancel the amex reserve itself only? Or what's the spending pattern with the amex? Seems not really famous in Msia..
*
No, come in pair.

You can cancel and apply for standalone VI, 50k annual spending to waive AF instead of 80k for premier.

You are not living in KV?

In KV but what's the benefit of amex reserve? Never have a amex card before.
*
VI
2x TP per RM1 local spend
5x TP per RM1 oversea spend

AR
5xTP per RM1 for any spending

except those gov / insurance related transactions that mbb listed.

KV amex should be well accepted, I would say 70-80% of merchant I frequent do accept amex

Hi all, I received letter of offer for 2 premier card after pledging by FD. It requires me to sign the letter n fax it back. Instead of faxing, can i email them back? I dont have fax machine with me.

After this, i still need to bring the letter to maybank branch for further action?

Thanks! Its quite urgent because the offer letter going to expire soon as it took so long to reach my house.
*
call them

I dont remember sending back, basically just bring the letter to branch but that was 3 yrs ago

Any idea if this card is worth keeping when I move to the US? Foreign transaction fees/exchange rate hassles included, that is...
I'm likely unable to get my own higher-earning CC until I build up some credit in the US, so my choices aren't that great. I can be a supplementary on a Chase Sapphire Reserve so there's 3x on travel and dining, but 2 Cards / VI offering 4.3x (ringgit exchange rate lol) on anything else seems to complement it well.
*
US based card has great sign up bonus but as you mentioned the earn rate if M2P is better due to forex. its entirely up to you how you want to play this. ambank has lower charges on foreign currency transactions that I think is worth looking at with slightly worse earn rate than M2P (1 mile to RM1 spending)

Just managed to redeemed SIA Business saver SIN-SEOUL return for me and my gf.

However i realized SIN-SEOUL aircraft is Boeing 777-300ER with SIA new business class come with full flat bed but return flight is Airbus A330-300 which is old school business class seat. The different is huge from the picture sad.gif

Any way to see what is the aircraft for this flight before redeemed?
*
whenever you choose the flight, the details of plane is shown.

suggest you to call KF to change your flight, lots of difference between the two aircrafts.

Guys, do you know what sort of fees maybank charges for this card for foreign / overseas spend? I poked around the website and couldn't find it.

I assume:
- Non-preferred FX rate determined by Amex
- An additional 1.5-2.0%fee levied by Maybank
- Anything else?
*
2.5-3% from experience

what are you up to? haha

nothing fancy lah haha. i live in SG now so trying to do the math whether it's worth it to apply for the mbb card and use it in SG (aka foreign spend) for my daily expenses.

(SG cards around 1.3-1.4 mpd which works out to around rm2.22-rm2.39/mile)
*
I know you are based in SG, I did asked you to have a look at this card some time back when you posted your SQ Suite.

I work in SG too, still use SG based card. cannot get over the loss in forex

I think SG cards will still accrue more points faster and better due to the loss in Forex.

I think the VI also gives you x5 for overseas spends.
*
how to get more pts with SG card if the earn rate are lower?

the only great thing with sg cards are bonuses.

But technically you lose more with the forex change + 2.5% on top of the Amex what?

Any detailed calculations to show that using this M2P is better than using a SG based CC?
*
you lose forex but earn miles faster with m2p

you were saying SG card earn miles faster, so how does that work?

forex 3.11
forex & fee loss 3%
assumed annually 10k SGD

With SG based card, $1=1.4 miles thus 14000 miles

with m2p, 33600 miles for spending 10k SGD. approx. 20k miles but paying RM 933 extra

that is 4.67 cents per mile, on the high side imho

rm4.67cents? so around sgd1.5-1.6cents/mile actually quite reasonable leh.

locally our credit cards annual fee renewal bonus miles (eg citi premiermiles is 10000miles for s$192.60) is almost sgd2cents/mile.

but i guess it depends on your redemption pattern ie do you normally redeem biz or first tickets, and how much “roots” you still have in malaysia 😬

for me i almost totally cut ties with msia liao, so it would be quite a bit of effort to reopen banking accounts, etc 😭
*
I would say local bank are still quite open to foreign income though they may be using lower forex to determine your income.

For M2P, worst case can offer to pledge with a 30k FD

hi sifu, previously i pledged FD partially to apply for this card, after 2 years my credit limit had gone up quick a lot and i wish to withdraw the pledged FD amount but remain to hold the card.

Did any sifu here know what is the actual withdrawal process?

thanks
*
ask for CL limit increase, if they granted you more than what you pledge then you can subsequently ask if you can withdraw your FD as the CL.is based on your salary.

they will then issue you a letter for FD withdrawal

My limit have double over the pass 2 years since I pledge the FD, the increase in CL is definitely much higher than the Pledge FD amount.

Dint receive any letter from them, do you know how is the exact procedure?

Thanks

Just enjoy 50% discount on seafood buffet at lemon garden Shangri-La over the weekend.

Noticed this benefit is only valid through 31 Dec 2017.

Enjoy while it last and did anyone have any news that Maybank will renew this benefit? Or compensate with other on par benefit?

count like this dunno correct or not....

let's say i spend 40k /year and pay RM800 annual fee.
so total                =RM40800
Total TP  earned  =200K points
TP to Kris mile    =41200 miles

mile/RM = RM40800/41200 miles =RM0.990/mile
*
40k is spending, miles come as bonus

paying 800 is not the same as the 40k spending
