Basically you can get 2 economy ticket for the miles requested for 1 business class.

Wondering if now Krisflyer is a better deal in terms of redemption or not.

3....

oh well....was good while it lasted....have gone twice to lhr with 90k+ miles return....albeit with rm2.8k+ in fees....

Seasonal or not, it's still expensive because we can't redeem it on saver's fare/ticket.

9. Can I redeem on all fares offered by Malaysia Airlines?
You may redeem on the following booking classes and upgrade according to eligible fare classes
provided below:
Cabin Booking Class Redemption Upgrade
First F / A No
Business J / C / D Yes
Economy
Y / B / H Yes
K / M / L / V Yes
S / N No

Fare with booking classes Q / O / G / Z are excluded and cannot be booked in miles.
However, you may still purchase the flight tickets using cash / credit card. Codeshare flights and
MASwings flights operated with DHT aircraft type are excluded and cannot be booked in
miles

Blardy MAS
*
in the past, i have always redeem into d for business....and v, s, n for economy....so i don't think it has changed....

and there are times when the stupid system actually calculates higher cash payment with redemption than buying the ticket openly.... so yes, you should always check the market price before redeeming....

With Enrich devaluation on 10 June, there is no changes to Asia Miles.
Just called Asia Miles and the points are still the same. In fact Asia Miles is much cheaper than Enrich

Mel - Kul (Business One Way)
MAS: 55k points
Asia Miles: 45k points

What about the cash upfront costs?....

The only really premium MBB card left is World Mastercard.

1k upfront AF and waiver only comes with an annual spending of RM 120,000.00

If you are earning RM 120,000.00, this is a hard figure to meet  biggrin.gif

The actual benefits are not commiserate with the "eliteness" of the conditions....

I have asked before, and they say have to resubmit all documents like fresh application....then if they accept, then can withdraw the FD....had to do that for my wife's card when the condition was 180k.....now only 120k.... didn't bother as will cancel card the next cycle as will not meet spending criteria for af waiver....

US based card has great sign up bonus but as you mentioned the earn rate if M2P is better due to forex. its entirely up to you how you want to play this. ambank has lower charges on foreign currency transactions that I think is worth looking at with slightly worse earn rate than M2P (1 mile to RM1 spending)
*
the main problem with ambank is, you have to use the card physically to get the 5 points per rm1 overseas spend equivalent...online you get only 1 point....

Just managed to redeemed SIA Business saver SIN-SEOUL return for me and my gf.

However i realized SIN-SEOUL aircraft is Boeing 777-300ER with SIA new business class come with full flat bed but return flight is Airbus A330-300 which is old school business class seat. The different is huge from the picture sad.gif

Any way to see what is the aircraft for this flight before redeemed?
*
Do a trial booking on the normal website, and the aircraft used will be displayed when you click on the flight no.

hi sifu, previously i pledged FD partially to apply for this card, after 2 years my credit limit had gone up quick a lot and i wish to withdraw the pledged FD amount but remain to hold the card.

Did any sifu here know what is the actual withdrawal process?

thanks
*
what do you mean your "credit limit had gone up"?

i have asked this before, since i pledged for my wife when their requirement was 180k....now it's 120k below her income.....but they say can only remove if cancel the card, and then reapply....

Which means my CL have increase substantially after I pledged the FD, the increase in my CL is higher than my pledged FD amount.

Doesn’t make sense for me to cancel and reapply as I will lost my TP

At the end how do you managed to withdrawal the pledged FD? Cancel and reaply?

Thanks
*
the fd was supposed to cover for the cl....the cl was never increased since then....too much of a hassle, so i left the fd there....the card we will likely cancel once spending drops below fee waiver level....as the spendings that keep it above is no more needed....

Gen X worked this out years ago....

Only problem is with the devaluation of enrich miles, the return is pretty poor now, and while asiamiles still have reasonable j class redemption, cx doesn't work at all for journeys down under....

*
Yes...the points are actually recorded separately by cards, but only principal can redeem..,

Hi, want to ask:
If regular overseas spending is equivalent to >80k per month, is this Maybank 2 Cards Premier the best? Because of the RM 1 : 5TP?

Or any other cards with better benefits.
*
in terms of tp, and eventual conversion to miles, the maybank vi or 2 premier are the best....with options of enrich, kf or asiamiles...although the later seems discontinued...

but if really all 80k overseas spend, then rhb premier vi (note not the normal one) lah....

QUOTE(djkeoni @ Mar 28 2018, 01:47 PM)
I Google'd and discovered that Airbnb has been charging a currency conversion fee of 3% for a few years now despite whatever currency you select DIFFERENT from the pay out currency the Airbnb receives.

I sought out their CS and they confirmed as follows:

"If your currency is different from the currency your host gets paid out in, then there will be an additional 3% currency conversion fee"

So I guess we can't escape this as the card will be charged in MYR but we suffer an additional 3% conversion fee on top of their currency exchange, in my case to Euro sad.gif
*
QUOTE(djkeoni @ Mar 28 2018, 07:20 PM)
Interesting to know that.

With Airbnb the painful part is the extra 3% they impose on top of credit card issuer charge (2.25 for Visa and 2.5 for Amex - CS informed me today) not forgetting the currency exchange fluctuation. Only good thing to take away is the high rate of points to be collected
*
Always pay in the currency of the country you are in, never accept the conversion to your CC currency....the rate is always worse than otherwise....

However, if you have converted to the CC currency ie MYR, there is no more cc issuer charge, as you are billed in MYR and it's just like you buy something in parkson....
