An article on Airbnb's 3% conversion fee: http://uk.businessinsider.com/airbnb-charg...gs-2017-4/?IR=T

I have just booked 2 Airbnb in Australia and was quoted in AUD, it's a pay upfront booking, so payment made with Msian CC, charged in AUD to the CC....

No conversion to MYR by Airbnb...

i never use the complimentary access plaza premium lounge before,do we need to attached with boarding pass?
*
No necessarily....while all the airside lounges by default means you are travelling and have a boarding pass, the 2 (3) landside lounges at KLIA2 allow card holders not traveling to enter...just show your ic for identification....

Anyone has tried to convert TreatPoints to Enrich Mile points for Enrich account number that does not belong to the principal cardholder?

Meaning to say if I am the Principal and I have a Supplementary Card, under the name SP. If I convert points in my Supplementary Card into the Enrich Account number belonging to SP, is that allowed?

I tried at Maybank branch today and was told that it is not possible. Apparently it is only allowed to convert into Enrich account under my name, even though the points belong to the supplementary card under SP's name.

Not sure if the teller is giving me wrong info.
*
That is correct....

When they used to have an online site for redemption, you can choose to redeem to another person's enrich account....but after they removed that online redemption, you can only do via branches or call centre, and only to yourself....

But you can redeem tickets for anyone with enrich....just severely devalued....used to get j return to LHR with just 90+k miles....now y also needs 100k miles....

What do you mean by severely devalued?  Do you mean that say if I need 50k of EM to buy a ticket to London for myself, it will cost more if I buy it for someone else?
*
No, the redemption miles needed is the same for anyone....just the whole enrich frequent flyer system is now not worth as much as the past, due to the devaluation of what a mile is worth, and the move to tie miles to cost of tickets, rather than distance of sectors....

I redeemed a few return j tickets to LHR in the past, using just 90+k miles each, when they have a 15% discount for online redemption....a random check now shows more than 200k miles needed....and for y class, 80k miles....

Ahh I see. Well, unfortunately I already have some points invested into Enrich all these while. So will just go ahead with these and redeem my trip to UK for now.

What do you recommend to change to after this?  Asia Miles?
*
Asia miles are also proposing change to cost based rather than sector/miles based system...

And all airlines are trying to devalue their miles....sq just did a change, with a marginal devaluation....

The good days are going....

i did a transfer from my wife supp card to her asiamiles account and it went through. Tot of giving it a try and was expecting it to not go through. However, the miles did go through the next day. Call the customer service and give them the supp card acc number. Just don't tell them its a supplimentary card. as long the card name and asiamiles name match they allow through.

I suspect this is because supp card TP earning is under their own pool hence the process went through.

Not sure if it'll work with enrich or krisflyer.
*
Hmm... obviously they failed to note that it was a supplementary card.... interesting potential loophole....lol

No, like I said

“Hi David, please be informed that the points collection for education institution (local or overseas) will be the same. Thank you.”

From Maybank
*
That is not my experience....fees paid for Australian universities in AUD were taken as foreign transactions and awarded 5 points....

Ohh that was recent. Online payment?
Can’t think of any reason except merchant code for the gateway payment is not under education lol
*
Online

The merchant code will NOT be that used for Malaysian education establishment, as that is a local designation....it will show up simply as a foreign currency transaction overseas....

Merchant code is ISO standard, so it is international. Nothing to do with local designation...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_category_code
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_18245
*
Two information will be captured.... merchant category....and currency/site of transaction.... obviously the currency/site of transaction trump's the merchant category....

The points will obviously be determined by how much money the bank makes from the transaction.... obviously, there is an arrangement with educational establishments in Malaysia for a lower transaction charge....and hence the bank decides to award only 1 point....

Maybank makes a lot of money from foreign currency transactions, with the exchange being about 2% over visa rates....so there will is no need to reduce points....

The "gst" value of Maybank treats points is 0.2sen....so 5 points means 1 sen "rebate"....ie 1% rebate from myr transaction value....

That hasn't taken into account the transaction fee visa and banks charge.....

This has nothing to do with how much Maybank makes in foreign transaction or if they have an arrangement with local education establishment for lower transaction charge.
The point is Maybank already declared education transactions local or overseas as 1 point. That means they also look at merchant code for point awarding system, not just currency/site transaction.

[attachmentid=9930506]

No point arguing with me since this is from Maybank themselves. You can clarify with them.
*
The fact remains, you will get 5 points.... irrespective of what the sc staffs say....just trying to explain the facts....

Why do you all think Maybank decided to reduce some spendings to 1point from the previous 2/5?....if you can see why, you will understand how they have configured this exception.....

check in m2u a few days after transaction.
*
i am not aware you can see specific points awarded in m2u....

you will only know the points after you view/download the statement....and even then, you wouldn't know which transaction got what points, just the total points you get, and the extra points if overseas/fc spends....

last month when i got my premier cards, i called CS and told them i need to move my points to the premier card and cancel my platinum as i have too many cards. luckily the guy went through with the transfer and i got them all transferred from my platinum cards to premier cards saving me over 50% in redemption rates.
this things works but i think depends on the agent you are talking to.
*
They allow this one off, on migration from a lower card to the premium card....did the same also when I migrated from classic (yes, from a long time ago, never bothered to "upgrade") to vi.....

Consolidating miles from different account are heavily discussed all around the world.
Bank / KF (or other miles) are usually quite strict on the transfer name.

The closest possibility (and legally) is Virgin Australia Velocity program, which allows family points pooling, and accepting points transfer from/to KF.
Unfortunately, after transferring all the points from A to B, you may left only 50% (or lower, not too sure)?
*
Enrich actually allows transfer of miles to family members, but at a significant cost....not worth it....(just like their silly buy miles promotion)...

QF allows such transfers free, and is useful when family members have small collections of miles and want to group under one account do full redemption can be made....
