Today I went to cancel my 4 supps as I really don't want to pay SSTx8 and will probably have to cancel principal next year anyway. Had to redeem 600k TP and ended up getting vouchers. I know it sounds really really stupid but with this covid I've got so many miles stuck in Enrich, KF and TPs ans pretty sure I won't be travelling anywhere for a long while. What is everyone doing with their TPs?

QUOTE(knwong @ Jun 9 2020, 09:25 PM)
Let it sit in Maybank TP. Valid to 3 years. Can withstand quite long

The best way to maintain value is keep as treat point form as long as possible

Yeh, I understand the logic to keep in TP form. But this current uncertainy and prospect of paying RM25x8 in SST (mine's due in July) just made me feel better than sitting on lots of unrealised value.

Anyway, no regrets. I've got one more AF-free year to think how to use up my 600k remaining TPs before I have to cancel my principal.

Jan - Dec 2020 you no need to pay = first year waiver
Expenses from Jan - Dec 2020 will determine your AF waiver for second year.

Applied for this a couple months ago online but got rejected. Then suddenly last week I got a call from their telesales asking me if I'm still interested... Sent my documents immediately, hopefully this means I have a good chance of getting it. smile.gif

Hmm... not bad...
But you need to reach at least Enrich Gold or better Enrich Platinum (to enjoy OW lounges).
Gold requires 50k while Platinum requires 100k elite miles.
Based on the given rate, you need to redeem 100k enrich miles to get extra 10k elite miles.
As it is based on per transaction, you need to redeem 100k x 5 times = 500k enrich miles and 50k elite for Gold.

However, I am worried whether we can redeem 5 times as above, as the elite miles capping for each transaction is 10k.
Why they need to implement capping of 10k?
Also regarding T&C clause D3, member can move up only 1 tier?
If so, this is only useful for existing Silver member.
They can't attract new (active) members into Enrich (bad move).
Maybe someone can read the T&C in detail and enlighten us.

Do these cards offer anything additional to the Maybank Visa Infinite - seems to be mostly the same Tier Point earning rate, even comparing the VISA to AMEX and ofc the VISA is more widely accepted.

Yes exactly. i'm thinking whether to apply 1 for myself ;p

QUOTE(Shanglin @ Jun 7 2020, 10:56 AM)
For platinum charge card, you got to be a big spender eg spending 1 million a year and if happen you can’t fully redeem all membership reward point, then the card suit you, cause the point never expire.

If you spend eg 100000-300000 a year and have no difficulty to redeem the point prior to point expiration as what Maybank two card premiere does, then the platinum card definitely not suit you.

In short, The Platinum card is design for big spender that spend a lot a year. Even you are qualify to apply but if you can’t spend so much then this card is not for you.

i don't get it why platinum card is only for big spender? is there any restriction?

It's not for big spender meaning there is a minimum monthly spend (although there is a minimum income) but it's suggested the big spender that would see the benefits of the AMEX Platinum compared to something like the Maybank Premier cards.

The reason given is that Maybank Treatpoints expire after 3 years; so if one is collecting 100000s of points every year, they might have so many they do not know what to do with them. AMEX Member points have no expiry, so big balances can build up and it doesn't matter, there is no risk to losing them.

This is usually a big consideration when comparing Airline points and AMEX points as the Airline points expire but also the cash-out options to vouchers or gadgets is very poor value compared to booking flights / flight upgrades (which one may not be able to do due to things like CoVid). In the Maybank Treatpoint case, if they are nearing to expiry I don't see why someone wouldn't just buy Robinson's (or KFC) vouchers and not worry about it.

Hello sifus,

Just got to know my application has been approved. Just want to ask a quick question here as it is my first credit card..

If the transactions (using my DEBIT card) is categorized under "RETAIL" when checking in Maybank2u, assuming I'm spending through the same merchants with my Amex/Visa will it be safe to assume those transactions will accrue me the 5x TP per RM1?

Reason I ask is because those are mainly online Visa transactions. Just hoping it would still net me TP.

Likely yes, as long as not under those excluded list.
Best you test with small amount to ensure receiving TP.
However, only Amex gives you 5TP, VI gives 2TP for local spending.

Btw, no need to blackout your 5 digits retail spending, many big spenders here with monthly 6-7 digits biggrin.gif
