Applied for this a couple months ago online but got rejected. Then suddenly last week I got a call from their telesales asking me if I'm still interested... Sent my documents immediately, hopefully this means I have a good chance of getting it. smile.gif

Hello sifus,

Just got to know my application has been approved. Just want to ask a quick question here as it is my first credit card..

If the transactions (using my DEBIT card) is categorized under "RETAIL" when checking in Maybank2u, assuming I'm spending through the same merchants with my Amex/Visa will it be safe to assume those transactions will accrue me the 5x TP per RM1?

Reason I ask is because those are mainly online Visa transactions. Just hoping it would still net me TP.

Likely yes, as long as not under those excluded list.
Best you test with small amount to ensure receiving TP.
However, only Amex gives you 5TP, VI gives 2TP for local spending.

Btw, no need to blackout your 5 digits retail spending, many big spenders here with monthly 6-7 digits  biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info boss! Are you sure it’s five? wink.gif

Aside from the Amex Platinum charge card (RM1 = 5x MR = 1x EM for example) are there any cards that come close to the conversion rates offered by M2C Premier? CIMB Enrich World Elite comes to mind but it's still not as good. Link to the conversion rate here.

I have 4.7M TP. Thinking if I should convert all to KF. No idea what my travel plans are gonna be but kind of want to capitalize on this redemption bonus.

Need some help from sifus. I want to book a nice hotel suite in KL for a staycation with my points. So far it seems like this is only possible via Enrich Miles, which only has partnerships with Hyatt, Intercontinential, RuMa, and Hilton. Any other routes I can take?

Edit: enrichhotels.com has tons of options.

Might have to fly to US early December. What are the chances I can snap up TWO guaranteed redemption flights for J or F (i.e no waitlist)? First time trying to redeem flights with miles…

If I book with SQ and it does not say waitlist when I select the flight, does that mean my redemption is guaranteed and booked?

Yes, if waitlist is NOT mentioned, then you proceed to redeem and book where miles will be deducted and you can select seat.

If for waitlist, they will just give you a booking reference no, no miles will be deducted.

Go for J for 2 award times, easier to redeem.

2 F is harder, unless you are willing to redeem advantage tickets

Thank for clarification. For Advantage, that one is usually NOT waitlist right?

They announced the launch of the new Maybank Singapore Airlines Amex today, wonder if it is any good?

I was excited to see this but looks like the earning potential for KF is still half of M2P.

For the Platinum version:

QUOTE
1 KrisFlyer mile for every RM 2.5 spent locally
1 KrisFlyer mile for every RM2 spent on online and overseas transactions

So are our cards still king, especially for KF? This looks like a good opportunity for more competitive cards to enter the market. The MBB KrisFlyer cards aren't good enough imo

Can. SQ Krisflyer allows you to redeem KF miles with Star Alliance airlines

Likewise Cathay's AsiaMiles allows you to redeem with oneworld alliance

Whether the rate to redeem with another airline is the best rate or not is another story

I booked MH J KUL - HND return for this year’s sakura season via Asia Miles. Waaaaay better rate than booking through Enrich directly. The difference is insane. If I recall the cost for one way via Enrich was enough to cover my redemption for return tix via AM for TWO!

Interesting, I understand that the taxes and fees enrich charges for flights to Japan is insane (almost rm2k for the fees and surcharge alone if I’m not mistaken)

Are you able to book via CX website for the MH flight, or do you have to call them up?
*
You can book via CX website. It will show any Oneworld availability that is allocated for CX/AM redemption.

hi want to ask is the enrich miles redemption instant?
*
In my experience, usually 5-10 mins you’ll see the miles in your account. But I haven’t redeemed EM since last year so this was my experience back then.
