Yes exactly. i'm thinking whether to apply 1 for myself ;p
i don't get it why platinum card is only for big spender? is there any restriction?
It's not for big spender meaning there is a minimum monthly spend (although there is a minimum income) but it's suggested the big spender that would see the benefits of the AMEX Platinum compared to something like the Maybank Premier cards.
The reason given is that Maybank Treatpoints expire after 3 years; so if one is collecting 100000s of points every year, they might have
so many they do not know what to do with them. AMEX Member points have no expiry, so big balances can build up and it doesn't matter, there is no risk to losing them.
This is usually a big consideration when comparing Airline points and AMEX points as the Airline points expire but also the cash-out options to vouchers or gadgets is very poor value compared to booking flights / flight upgrades (which one may not be able to do due to things like CoVid). In the Maybank Treatpoint case, if they are nearing to expiry I don't see why someone wouldn't just buy Robinson's (or KFC) vouchers and not worry about it.
