Hi, newbie to car detailing plan to get products for car wash and apply hybrid sio2. Hope to get recommendation from you guys.
Things I planned to purchase
Car shampoo: Carpro Reset
Iron Remover: Osren Iron Remover
ClayBar: still searching, cant find on lazada and shopee for reputable ones
Hybrid Sio2: Meg's hybrid ceramic wax/ Osren Sio2

Did I missed out anything? Is it ok to go full Osren as their product are more budget friendly
*
Soft99 and Perma Glass clay bars are pretty decent. Plus they are widely available online. But bear in mind, don't clay unless it is absolutely necessary. Do the zip-lock bag test and assess. Do your chemical contamination right and you might skip claying all at once.

Also consider the ever popular TW ICE Seal N Shine as a non sio2 alternative.

Maybe it's just me but I don't seem to like how Osren promotes their products. The great Malaysian brand you should look out for is IGL.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Anyone using 3D One or 3D HD Speed here ?

3D One is amazing. Works great for both Rotary and DA in my experience.

Hey there, can you kindly elaborate on this? I am curious on your different viewpoints smile.gif thanks for sharing.
*
Well, maybe it's just me. But this http://osren.com/blog/how-to-choose-the-ri...-for-polishing/ kind of put me off. They promote their NAO 46 compound to be perfect for hard paint and Perfect Cut for soft paint.

Like I said, it's just probably me sweat.gif I personally don't like to assess work needed based on the hardness of the clear coat, because we all know very well that each car is different despite being the very same model with the exact colour.

But hey, don't let my nonsense sway you away from Osren. And to be transparent, I haven't tried any of their products. It's just a matter of personal preference and methodology. thumbsup.gif

Hi bro, thanks for the suggestion, for the TW ice i feel way too overpriced. Can you recommend any product from IGL as i see from lzd they sell coating mostly
*
Then IGL is definitely not for you as their products are on the high side. Meg's HCW should work fine for you considering the price to performance ratio. Otherwise you can get Carpro Reload by 100ml bottles for less than RM50 online. Another alternative is Mother's CMX Spray which is about RM120 online if not mistaken.

NAO46 is compound.

Perfect Cut 20 is polish.

I bought both from Osren when I was looking to get a DA from them.

Using a Myvi [soft paint] so they recommended me to use P20.

I bought N46 cos I wanted to try it on older cars with 'harder' paint or those cars which have been resprayed.

Eventually when my confidence level is higher with the DA, I plan to move on to orange peel removal on my ride.
*
I definitely need to try out Osren products then. How do you find their products? Any good if compared to the major brands out there?

It's recommended to separate buffing towels away from wash and glass cleaning towels/mitts.

yes. buffing towel. applicator pads you wash separately from buffing towel as well?
smh i been doing things wrong.
no wonder my wash wipe cloth got destroyed just after one wash with the cloth i used to buff glaco
*
Haha! Been there done that. In case you don't know how to wash microfiber towels, here are the important things to note:

1. Separate dirty towels away from the "precious towels"
2. Set wash temperature to cold. (High temperatures can destroy microfiber pores)
3. Set "extra rinse" if your machine has it
4. Use only liquid detergent (add some vinegar if you like)
5. Do not use fabric softener
6. Air dry if you have a dryer (or warm or low heat at max)
7. Do not leave your towels to dry outside (to avoid dust and particles)

Just remember that the two biggest expenditure (at least for a pro) in detailing are towels and pads. So take care of them dearly.

Hope this helps. Cheers...

If possible yes. My machine has a setting for sportswear too, so I use that instead.

Spot on! Just to add on for point 7, don't dry under the sun because similar to point 2, heat from the sun will also 'melt' the fibers of the cloth causing them to have a hard time absorbing liquid afterwards.

I recently got in contact with Turtle Wax Malaysia and was told that the Hybrid Solution series will be launched in Malaysia around April this year. Well considering the MCO, I guess that will be pushed back then. I am personally excited about it.

Point number 6, any alternative to dry towel without air dryer?
*
As brother V429 mentioned, hanging them out indoors will be sufficient. I have a dryer at home and even so, i only use them for my "precious towels". (Because my mom kept complaining LOL) The soiled ones are left to dry indoors.

i've tried reuse the buffing towel which use for buffing carpro lite ceramic coating.just for testing purpose on one panel. use it many times by applying maintenance coating or quick detailing. yet haven't found any swirl or marring.

i quickly soak the towels used for buffing into mixture of apc and detergent. leave it overnight , wash by hand , then put into washing machine.

now i reuse all of them when coating my wife's ride. no problem found.

i think due to carpro lite is not crystalized as fast as normal coating. even highspot can be remove by reapply coating after many hours.
*
Yup. Because Cquartz Lite contains about 40 to 50% ceramics only.

Hi guys.. really don't understand most of the items you guys mentioned.. sorry have to ask for simple solution..

My car is black colour, I've started washing my car recently, always use Meguairs wash and wax yellow color. I need to wax the car myself now, it has lost its shine and have some watermark..

Plan to buy waterwax spray and wipe.. can? Any recommendations guys? Heard of Soft99 but worry it's hard to buff off.. had nightmare last time I bought cheap wax spoilt my old car..
Please guys.. I need a simple solution to start first, slowly explore more..
*
Yes, as everyone mentioned, try a cleaner wax first. The general rule in detailing is always to start with the least aggressive methods first. But if it is hard water spots, then that's going to give you a hard time so you might need to step up to a polish or even a compound.

But for now, start with a cleaner wax first like Meg's 3in1, Cleaner Wax, Mother's Synthetic Wax etc etc. Remember to wash the car thoroughly with a normal soap (not any wash & wax), you can even consider using dish soap to remove all the dead residue wax.

Hope this helps.

Degreaser test today. Cleaned kitchen hood, suction fan n its chimney. OPC diluted 1:3 vs Simple Green undiluted.

Degreasing: OPC wins
Paint safe: OPC wins

Thanks for the heads up. Still searching a good APC after all these while. I've been using Boulder Clean's APC undiluted for light cleaning which seems to work well. Just did a light no rinse cleaning on my dad's plastic ridden engine bay with it yesterday and was pretty happy with the results. But will definitely get my hands on some OPC after this.
