QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 16 2020, 08:12 AM) This or Ultimate Compound. Both works well. Compound may be better in certain scenarios especially for cars with dull paint or severe swirls. QUOTE(celciuz @ Jun 15 2020, 12:40 PM) Hmm . im working on my 2 years almost 3 years Toyota Altis in Silver color. The car hasn't been doing detailing works since i took it from new. Recently just wash & coat with Osren (Coat) and the rest is not yet being done and i notice there is some swirl mark all over the car and i just trying to remove swirl marks and some minor scratches . Hence im seeking some professional opinion from forum here biggrin.gifDue to MCO giving me more time to do these things and recently just brought some Osren "reblack" and Turtle Wax Seal & Shine since im seeing alot great review about it . Furthermore looking into some DA polisher ranging from Rm300 to Rm1k does it make a different ? as i seeing the OPM is ranging around 2k - 5k+ , can share some opinion in best bang for buck DA? QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 16 2020, 11:53 AM) No worries bro. Unfortunately no, i didnt properly prep the car with clay bar , iron remover etc. So now im might just wait the currently SIO2 coating to die off and do a proper job again before apply the coat again. We all start somewhere too. Just wondering, before you applied the coat, did you do any surface prep? Claying the car etc? Swirl marks.. Yea, the bane of detailers. Usually those swirl removers do a decent job if apply by hand but if really want good results, need to get a DA. For me, I also bought a DA from Osren for < RM900 I think, before I added on the polish and pads etc. DA is quite user friendly vs rotary... Yea i got a quote from Osren DA as well the Hurricane 2.0 for Rm 800+ . Not sure whether i should commit to it ? as i seeing lazada there is alot of DA from Ozaxt , Sunpro those ranging <RM600. understand that there is alot of point of view for DA such as weight, the DA balance whether its head heavy etc which i have no clue on. |

QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 16 2020, 12:13 PM) I see. It's ok. You can either wait for the existing coat to deteriorate or just speed up by washing the car as normal and prepping it with the clay bar. Claying will remove the surface contaminants. You can feel it with your fingers, or what some people call it the plastic bag test. So far I didn't use the 'bag' method cos I use my fingers to gauge the surface if it's smooth or not. Yea the Osren personnel ask me to go to their HQ for a visit & discussion would very much let me understand my needs. You can likely test it on your roof/boot/bonnet area and the surface may feel 'rough' or 'sandy' even after you've just washed it. That's when you know the surface isn't smooth. For swirls, you either need a polish or compound - depending on the severity. There are many products out there, some also called AIO [All In One] where they polish and wax the surface; although it's usually advisable to get a proper polish. Wax is basically a final layer/coat on your ride on lock in the shine. Waxing without surface prep won't last as long as a car that has undergone surface prep as it helps remove all those contaminants and what nots and polishing will help restore some lustre into the paint. Luckily your ride is silver, so the swirls aren't so 'visible' from afar. I would say, depends on your budget, and whether going down the DA route is something you are keen on doing. I also bought the Hurricane last year but ended up using it only once... My detailing is mostly done by hand, cos of time constraints and I am forgoing the joys of a perfect and swirl free car for the time being... I would say, best to go visit the Osren HQ if you really still feeling in doubt whether you really need to get a DA... Try it out in person and they are more than helpful to demo also if the chance arises. Regarding my own ride, yes i can feel my surface of my car is sort of like sandy even after the Osren "coat" and i just brought a 3M claybay from Lazada and just waiting to time to use. Its is comfortable to use just normal distilled water as lubrication for the claybar ? and perhaps i should just try using my own hand to polish before committed to a DA tho. Thanks for the recommendation |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jun 16 2020, 12:42 PM) Removing swirl marks, I guess actually AIO with machine might be your best bet. It doesn't deep swirls, but if you have good wash routines, 2 buckets etc the swirls won't be that deep. TW S&S is one of the best, but price in Malaysia quite high compared to in the US. Hmm yea i think my current best option is to try using Hand-polish method after hearing from woodentiger86, since i purchase the claybar already might as well just try up hand-polishing see how it works .If you consider second hand unit, I might let go mine Actually, what I think is better clay only if you plan to polish. If don't plan to polish the claying adds more marrings. I would rather have a less perfect sio2 spray application than adding more marrings. Hurricane DA is a 15mm throw, which is pretty much the balanced system. I've tried the Hurricane v1 pretty good. I think the china options are Shinemate, Sunpo, and recently SPTA you can consider. I'm using Osren DAP8 (8mm DA, its actually a das6pro), which works fine for Honda paint, usually the japanese are tend to be on softer side compared to continentals. Thanks for the recommendation tho |

QUOTE(V429 @ Jun 16 2020, 12:48 PM) mazelol I was wondering how you jumped from the idea of hand polishing to machine polishing in such a short time, seems like you have been in contact with Osren hahaha No la , just watched all those Car detailing vid back since MCO started so this "hobby" is starting on me. I would just like to add a few point in addition to Woodentiger bro's good advice. -If you do plan to do machine polishing, do manage your expectations. There is a learning curve to it. -Some deep scratches are not worth polishing it off. Paint preservation is more important than paint correction. -if you want affordable DA machine, you can search for Shinemate. Osren's machine cost a bit more, but Osren offers good after sales service if you get it from them. I also feel like im jumping all around too quick and spend on lazada which is too convenient these day |

QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 16 2020, 02:06 PM) No worries man. If you have the time and convenient to go to their HQ, go for it. I went a couple of times and both occasions I didn't come back empty handed la. Yea , perhaps i should invest in <These> on my claying right ?Anyways, not sure about the distilled water part but I would suggest getting at least a lubricant such as quick detailer etc. I think you can google clay lubricant and see what are the results. As bro celciuz shared earlier, be prepared to polish if you indeed opt for claying. The sensation after a proper clay session + wax application is blissful though. You can literally see items rolling off the surface... like placing bottles on the engine and it'll just slide around effortlessly. Haha. One thing about hand application - it will require several 'passes' by hand to at least minimise the swirls you have. If you really want to remove the swirls to get a mirror-like finish or bring out the flakes in your paint, best to use a machine. Guys just asking the claybar that i brought "3M" its this good enough ? as not sure whether its authentic ? |

QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 16 2020, 02:21 PM) Imitation 3M bro. Yea i guess so , just wondering whether its safe to use I bought one recently too but haven't had the chance to use it. If you get the chance to visit Osren's HQ, try asking them on the differences between clay cloth, towel, and bar. I actually bought my clay cloth from Osren after many years of clay bars, mainly cos of the convenience & ease of use. Meg's Quik Detailer is a decent product. I usually use it in between washes if my car isn't heavily soiled. You can try searching for ADM Quik Detailer also. I bought it recently from bro Waliuuu but haven't gotten round to using it yet. ADM, If get from bro Waliuuu would be cheaper? |

Yea and I haven polish or whatsoever done to it , just wait this coat to wear off only try doing it by hand 😅Sheeting will come when you pour water or use a hose instead - likely... Cos the beads will pull each other and fall off the car... |

QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 19 2020, 09:28 AM) So far foam type - I don't encounter severe cases of slinging. Thats why its giving me a headache, just washed like 2 days ago after a day of working come back the rim become greyish Yea, Meg's Endurance - somehow quite normal to have that effect... Sometimes see it sling until the bottom of both front doors and also the rear bumper behind the wheelarches... Aduh. I think this might be prevalent for most gel type tyre shines, like Waxco and Tupps too. That's why spray looks attractive but their cans doesn't last long if user is too trigger happy. Perhaps should get something water based would help ? like Perl ? i try search V.R.P on shopee unfortunately its Out of stock.. anyway just want to finish up this Meg asap before moving and testing other option QUOTE(miaopurr @ Jun 19 2020, 12:29 PM) Izzit? mind sharing which model ? what is the base of the solution ? But ayam lazy... just use less and "buff" with applicator sponge Yea, seeing this FLEX brand alot at those Detailer Vid at Youtube, wondering which model you getting and how does it perform bro oi... show the machine la QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 22 2020, 09:33 AM) Another update: Bro , when got bulk-purchase option again ? im interested to join le if you guys dont mind Had the chance to meet up with bro V429 on Sunday as sharing 4L of Nano Wash from Osren. 20L is huge man! Nice fella and good to meet fellow detailers too. My impressions of Nano Wash - quite sudsy and foaming also with a small capful in pail of water and I tested it on my mum's ride. I guess the difference on Osren's site between Nano and Bubble Wash is the 'wet-look' that the latter purports to have... Scent wise - Nano Wash is quite decent too. Bro, enjoy the Meg's samples. Haha. Looking forward to your reviews also if time permits. Anyways, sharing some shots of the Glaco and Mirror Coat Zero in action on my side mirrors last week: 1. Front Windscreen - beads galore! ![]() 2. Side Mirrors coated with MCZ - pardon the beads on my side windows but you can see how clear and 'DRY' they looked even in heavy downpour... ![]() 3. Truly appreciate the clear side mirrors in our weather. ![]() |

QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 22 2020, 02:21 PM) Waxco is decent. Ya, probably the method i apply its wrong as well , i just take a short cut to use the Applicator apply a thin layer and thats all i did. Might need to use a old tag to swipe off the excess gel would be better tho ? But for sheer shine, Meg's Endurance is one of the top contenders. Probably may need to really use the applicator and wipe the gel into the sidewalls thoroughly to minimise the amount of product sticking on the tyres? Gonna give it a try next time. QUOTE(slk @ Jun 22 2020, 03:56 PM) try Osren's tyre dressing applicator pad, its dense so product wont get absorbed too much into the applicator and you can use less product Can use Osren Reblack to apply to tyre? i used it to do my matte black trim only leh and the result just wasn't that impressive given that the "oil" coat will eventually fall aparts especially these day where its rain every afternoon. https://osren.com/product/tools-and-accesso...tor/tire-sponge try Meguiar's All Season Dressing (liquid) or Osren's Reblack (Gel) QUOTE(slk @ Jun 22 2020, 06:49 PM) Wah, nice one but i probarly need 2L to try out first a .. anyone can suggest a pressure washer for car wash application ? im currently just using the B&D PW1350 planning to pair with a new 1/4" inch quick-connect adapter to slot in a MATCC Foam Cannon 3 . Would that be a good move to do ? as the PW1350 max flowrate only rated at 5L/Minute (300L per hour) . Can anyone advise? QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jun 24 2020, 11:28 AM) I think just use back the applicator you have, rub it a couple more rounds on the tyre will do? It should be able to rub the excess gel into the surface. I'm guessing la. Instead of using an extra rag or shirt to wipe it off. Yea need to swipe it off with a old rag , lets try later evening. |
