Just found out my car got scratched from bumper to bumper...

it was done deliberately....just managed to wash it and realise the long scar.

damn pissed off man...I've taken precautions to park at corner lots and not in between cars...never park in front of other people's houses and never near branches...

the worst part is that some are removable while some are all the way down primer...

3m clay bar is known to have a lot of fakes out there
So be careful

Personally I would recommend osren polisher, same price range as soft 99. But if soft99 produce good result then leave it be.

Cheap grit guard can be bought from AliExpress. Free ship. Mjjc shop

Yes, stone chips are the bane of detailing. Even with coating, I have heard some mention that stone chip on coating looks worse than stone chip on bare paint/clearcoat. Those who do use clear bra only wrap the front section and side mirrors of the car as to do entire car is quite expensive.

Personally I think for stone chip the best we can do as DIY is to use touchup paint to cover the chips until the next respray.
Polish and wax are 2 different things. Polishing is like finely sanding your paint to remove defects (such as scratches, swirls, water spots, etc) from your paint and create a smooth and glossy finish. This will thin your paint, but is usually marginal.

Wax is adding a layer on top of your paint to protect it from contaminants.

Coating also adds a layer on top of your paint for protection, but more rough and durable. A good coating and is applied properly can last anywhere between 2-5 years. However, this number is debatable because it also depends on how u maintain your car.
*
mind sharing how to "maintain" a car after coating? coated le gf's car. usually just wash. probably might top some reload if i feel like it. but wanna see how long can the beading last.

Have to la, mau cantik Tak mau nyawa. Lol

I also very lazy wanna clean up after every detailing session. Soak mf clothes, wash my pad washer, wash pads, wash brush, clean my polisher, clean my dispenser bottles and nozzle. Aiyoh cleaning up takes at least an hour.

I think Carpro Hydro can be spray on wipe off too. Maybe after dilution. Carpro Malaysia sells the Lite version (diluted) that they claim can be used as spray on wipe off.

Curious how Hydro performs vs Reload. I've used Reload many years ago and was quite impressed. It's really slick and almost feels oily but not sticky. Sadly, now that the price has increase so much, it is become a bit difficult for me to fork out that high for a 500ml spray sealant sad.gif

reload and hydro/hydro2 have undergone several batches with tweaked formulas.
2014 streak 99
2015 improved with more silica

heard 2016/2017 has less silica but longer lasting. at least i read in autogeek.

My way of application is to apply after washing. meaning while the car is still wet. it also doubles as drying aid.
i find it to streak less. but i shake it before spraying every panel. I believe mine is a 2015. And it really takes long time to finish it. (i bought 1 litre 2016 during cny) still got 350ml to go.

I've used the 2014 version as well..i prefer the 2015.

longevity wise. our weather can easily last 6 weeks with me trying out 8 weeks on a less bizarre weather unlike what we are experiencing today. pretty good for spray wax

Reza from the autopfledge/sonax msia distributor? Aite will try asking thanks smile.gif

PG is indeed oily. Application wise i almost finished a 500ml bottle after 2 car claying. Maybe i was using too much but it needed the lubrication. And always have to give second car wash
*
Pg got promotion now .
For the clay lubricant, one spray is actually enough for a 4x4 area. Similar to the size you would polish. I find it good for claying as lubricant, too slick as a detailer. Streaks like mad.

How frequent do you need to reapply? I've tried other ppl's cars with rain X on the windscreen, wiper judder with Bosch OE wipers, not sure if it's application problem.

However they are really good for side windows, a must for rainy season, mine lasted about 4months before it starts to show signs of wearing off.  thumbup.gif
*
Every 2-3 months.
Also using bosch wipers. The cheapest one lol
I seldom use wipers hahaha
Figured no need buy so good ones
No issues.

But I use autoglym glass polisher to clean off stubborn dirt and road film before application. And buff off with damp towel

I see, that still last quite long on the windshield.

Any tips for glass polishing? Not sure if autoglym glass polish uses cerium oxide, I do have some problem working with ceriglass, getting some marring after polishing with rayon pad.  rclxub.gif
*
I used to use orsen glass polishing. Now I just use normal polish to do the job.
I didn't like the osren glass polisher because it was really dry...

For autoglym, I can still be used to remove light waterstain, but I don't find it rough enough to remove tough ones. It is good however to use it as cleaner polisher to remove road film

Unlike 3M glass cleaner, The works and Clr are not glass cleaner. It works by soften soap and hardwater deposits.

this is one of the most interesting thing i've come across..
haven't seen anyone spoke of it in forum....
acid based?

anyone tried Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish yet?

also, after watching video from this guy, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_SEPVn_uOk

It seem like those wax friendly car shampoo is really a bad idea.
*
Lol a couple of days ago was discussing this with blurcase about this issue. Same guy.

Personally I think acid based car shampoos are not acidic enough to remove road film. And difficult to find acid based shampoo too.

Sticking to my regime and see no harm. His theory might be right, but many issues and factors are not considered as well Imo, so it might not be 100% correct. Unless tests are done, this remains a hypothetical theory to me.

Traditional wax are based on oil formulation. Nowadays we have sealants that are waterbased and water activated. Ie: carpro hydro2. Meaning oil is not the ONLY hydrophobic property, thus his consideration is inaccurate.

His argument is that pH neutral is not able to remove oil, therefore oil films cannot be removed. His only support is that because pH neutral cannot remove oil from wax, therefore oil films cannot be removed.

What if oil can be removed, but not grimes?

Spent RM2k+ there for my starter kit 😅 Ended up buying more and more stuffs 😂 Hopefully my interest don't die off before I use them up 😶

On the side note, anyone using pressure water gun here? Any recommended model? Was told to get those water cooled models.
*
Karcher k4 and above are water cooled.
I have one k2. Barely use it.

Karcher cause after sales service centers are abundant

My experience tells me that your spoiler is made of different material.

If it is abs, don't polish it. Paint wouldn't even last as material wise, paint doesn't bond to it.

Indeed. AIO is nearly no cutting ability I believe. The possible cut is from the pad in case if he did removed the clear coat. For some reason the paint on accessories for example spoiler and skirt is easier to be removed by machine mishandling most of the time.

Clear coat is very easy to repair though. A simple clear 2k in a can would solve the issue.
*
I've always wondered where to get 2k clear coat in a can...
i've told need to use it within 4 hours once they fill it for you.

Going to finally detail my car this weekend with DA machine  rclxm9.gif I know we have to mask the plastic and rubber panels, what about chrome finishing, head lamp and tail lamp?
*
Chrome and tail lamp can be taped.

Some aio polisher I lazy to even tape, but for pure polish I do tape.

Some aio don't stain rubber trim. Most dedicated polisher would. So pandai lo

Get a rotary, do some detailing jobs, save enough to buy a dual action and some.

Then do more detailing jobs, buy better better rotary and extensions. Then do more jobs, open detailing center...lol

I use both. For compounding, I like rotary. Fast and less fatigue. For polishing and paint cleaning, da is my go to.
