Guys this is my first dashcam i have gotten and it is in chinese,i just need to be sure in somethings.
1.Mine is the Yi Black Power Edition, i put in a 16gb sd card will it delete the old files by itself once it gets full or i must do it myself or else it won't record anymore?
2.Can this cam work on 4g or just wifi??
*
1. it will delete old files (First in first out). I'd use a higher capacity card as too small a memory might cause frequent re-writing which may shorten the lifespan of the card - you don't want it to konk off when you need the recording most.
2. it works on WiFi to connect to the app on your smartphone. Do note that you need to switch on your phone "location" in order for it to connect.

I see so smaller sd card will affect the device lifespan, how long is the expected lifespan for the device anyway? Bcs this 16gb already burn rm40 into my wallet.

Also while driving do you need to leave the wifi in the camera on?

I'm not sure how long the card can last. There are too many variables.

It's been said (read the posts in this thread) that switching off the WiFi will keep the cam slightly cooler. Heat is no good for lifespan of cam and the battery, and probably the uSD card too. You only need WiFi when you want to connect to your App on your phone.
I don't switch the WiFi off as I think most heat is generated by the recording.

1. Old files will be auto replaced with newer files. All new dashcams does this.
2. Yi dashcam have own wifi hotspot for your phone to connect to.

Depends. Can know which card did you get? Hope it's not Sandisk Ultra.

Cause 16GB can record about an hour+- only. The sweet spot would be 32GB with about 3 hours+- of videos.

Last time, I never turn off the wifi on the Yi dashcam but the battery stopped charging after 1.5 years due to the heat.

Oh no, yes is the SanDisk ultra that you mention. What's the problem? Thought it would be good bcs it is quite pricey.
Also if it is a issue, then it is a huge problem for me bcs my car is always in the sun. Is there anything I can do?

Sandisk Ultra is known to fail in less than a year if used in dashcam or ip cam. Its using the cheaper TLC NAND chips.

Hi, I would like to ask recently I set up this xiaomi Yi dashcam. But always after 2 or 3 days using it. It will said SD card got problem, ask me to format it.
I have format many times, I even use pc to format it.

But always after using 2 or 3 days, the msg will appear, ask me to format it. May I know why? is it because my SD card problem or this dashcam problem?

FYI, I already try to save and copy file to my SD card, also no problem.

thanks in advance notworthy.gif

Never used Kingston microSD before. I mostly use Samsung Evo Plus and no issues.

But can you try with another card and see? Did you format the micro SD using the Mijia?

Best is to try with a different SD car in the cam, that way from process of elimination you can find out which is the culprit.

SD car used on computer may not have issues, does not outright mean it will be fine in the cam.
