Dear All,
May I know if the LCD screen display can be set to default "off" when recording? I intend to install one at the rear windscreen and the display can be distracting especially at night, when seen through the rear view mirror.

got myself 1 unit of Power Edition but havent install yet.
the packing stated need to use micro-sd with minimum 16gb 80mb/s, is it a must?
is the ADAS support important for DVR?
what if without this feature?
*
For my grey edition, I use Sandisk Ultra 48MBps card. No complain from the camera so far since yesterday. Not sure how long this Sandisk will last.
From what I read, 80MBps vs 48MBps is just the read speed. The write speed for both is slightly less than 20MBps, as tested by one website using Samsung Evo and Samsung Evo + micro SD cards.

I don't use ADAS because I mount it at the back. From reviews, ADAS is useful only when travelling on NSHW. In cars with built-in lane-departure warning, the system will know you are not dozing off when you change lane after switching on your turn indicator. Whereas in Yi camera, no such feature to distinguish intentional lane switching. Hence, you can imagine how busy the ADAS will be.

All the SD / Micro SD cards that i having are SANDISK.
But its the first card that i use for Dashcam, hope it wont fail me

I got 2 Sandisk Ultra that failed on me when I use them in dashcam... I lost a 32GB and a 64GB... Totally lost confidence on Sandisk and switched to using Samsung Evo, Evo+ and Netac U3...
*
The Sandisk should still work, but maybe just require more frequent formatting to keep it going.

For my ancient Blackvue DR400 which is well known to suffer from heat issue, the Samsung Evo 32GB that I am using has been performing well for a long time ady - maybe a few years. I have not reformatted it for a long time too (this ancient camera does not have WiFi and ability to format card by pressing a button on the camera) and so far there is no problem with "please check SD card" messages and it is still recording fine. I know it is recording fine because once in a while I d/l the clips to confirm the cam/card are still working fine.

In comparison, a few other cards I used (I think they were Sandisk) gave me problems after short interval, the most common being "please check SD card".

Why my xiaomi yi car dashcam keep recording video in 10 seconds format??
I don't see any setting for full recording.

Is this normal?
*
Strange. There is no option to set video length and the default is 3 minutes. What I can guess is the power cable connection loose, or SD card issue.

Hi guys, I guess I terpress the emergency recording.
That's why it keep recording for duration of 10 sec to 20 sec.  doh.gif  doh.gif
I try 2nd button can recording 2 min ++. (no test max limit)
btw, do you guys remove the dash cam when away from car in public place??
I guess nobody wan break my windows and steal it  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
The default setting is 3 mins, cannot be changed.
I don't remove my cams when parking my car - unless I intend to park for a few days in an open car park (more worried about heat in the parked car). Plugging on/off the power supply to my blackvue damages the power plug connection.

ahhahaha alright

about the sun.... cant say about the models which have the stuck on holder, but those with the sucker.... well after a while it becomes abit loose, i suspect heat might exaggerate this flaw. (better would be to tukar to a better holder in the 1st place
*
Is it possible to mod the sucker to use 3M tape? Tear away the sucker, file/grind away protruding section, fill gap with epoxy, stick the 3M tape.

A comparison between my Yi (165°) vs generic A118 (supposedly 170°). Left image is Yi cam, which is noticeably wider than A118. I don't know how the 130° Power edition will fare, but I'll go for the widest angel possible to avoid buyer's remorse.
Attached Image

Edit:
1. Ignore the bike on the left. Just focus on the signboard to see the angle. More surrounding details is always a welcome to me.
2. I only set at 1920*1080p 60fps. I don't need the upscaled video. Now I'm trying out 30fps to see any difference. My instinct tells me lower fps should be easier for the camera to capture details due to possibly hardware limitation. And it doesn't hurt to have 100MB smaller files per video clip.

Hmm...
Finally installed in my car...  rclxms.gif
Recorded 3 min of 1080P - 60 fps, it took 400 MB !! (So huge file)

But somehow the video looks not clear, I put in my PC cant even see the car plate clearly...
I think maybe my windscreen dirty also lar, compare to other who post in youtube which is very clear can see car plate.
Any suggestion??

it may need angle adjustment - i experienced with some cams before, especially wide angle lens

horizontal 90 degree may not best view and even get blurring

put a slightly downwards like 100, 110, 120 degree give best view and clear image of plate number
*
Agree. Too horizontal means capturing a lot of sky, which may darken the "non-sky" surrounding.

Hi all, I just got my cam and it came with 3M tape instead of suction cup. Anyone using 3M tape? Would like to know if its really strong.

I used it for touch n go in the past, when i park my car under the sun, and it suddenly rains/clowdy, the touch n go tends to drop off. Probably due to the weather change. Do u see similar problems with this cam? Any advice if i should use the 3M or get a suction cup?

Thanks.
*
The 3M tape is strong, certainly much much stronger than the suction cup. It can rip off your car tint film if you pull it out by force. Just remember to wipe your windscreen to remove oily film.

Currency exchange, if you pay by cc. Shipping cost. And the risk of getting a D.O.A unit.

Anyone know if it possible to connect the xiaoyi dashcam to a power outlet? Meaning through an adapter or psu in a room (not in a car).
*
Easy peasy. It just needs a 5V DC supply using micro USB port. Any HP charger or powerbank can give you that.

market problem, not technical matter:

a) brand awareness - 360 only focus china market, no international reputation

b) interface language - mandarin only...

that time yi home cctv cam got overseas firmware lock/not working matter, some dealer bring in 360 cam as replacement products but till now sale seems still no big surprise as ppl outside china only know xiaomi xiaoyi, back selling yi cam
*
Yeah, I don't even know where to d/l the 360 APP.

can i ask once the sd card memory is full it will automatically overwrite the oldest video? or do we have to delete the videos manually to free up memory?
*
QUOTE(blurjoey @ Mar 22 2017, 09:47 AM)
It will overwrite old files first...
*
Not sure which dash cam @coolguy99 referred to, but in general the old files must not be protected - i.e., saved under "emergency" during impact detection.

Actually what is purpose to have GPS function in Dashcam? In case accident happen, it become proof to know where exact place?
*
To me, GPS is useful as I don't have to worry about date/time defaulted to factory time if the internal battery KO due to not driving for a few days or whatever reason. Second, it gives the option of speed stamping in the video footage (a double edged sword, really).
