Yes I did overclock it a bit..

Frequency about 4197 MHz with multiplier x42.0. Been that way since I first build the rig a couple of years ago. Vcore is 1.108v
*
So it is just a light/mild overclocking, temperature is fine since it is still < 85°C but I expect 4.1GHz to reach at most 70°C only, maybe I am too ambitious lol (+ hot weather recently), if you are satisfied with the 4.1GHz then you shouldn't be worried about it, if you plan to get to 4.4GHz (common achievable stable speed on an i5 4690K) then you need to get a better CPU cooler.

Yeah it could probably be the weather. If I were to get a better CPU cooler, what would you recommend? I use a full tower CM Storm Stryker. I'm open for both Air and CLC cooler. Btw thanks mate for the response
*
What's your budget for the CPU cooler?

somewhere around 500-600. Was thinking of noctua nhd15
*
Yes, since you have plenty of budget, you can go for the highest end Noctua NH-D15, comparable with AIO liquid cooler.

If you prefer aesthetic and clean design (some people hate the size of air cooler blocking the view of the components on mobo such as RAM/VRM heatsink etc.), then you can look for Corsair Hydro H100i/H115i.

*
Bitfenix Prodigy M has 2 "not-so-real" handlers on top, but price isn't cheap though, RM 350+.

Should be around RM 450+/- for your R9 270.

Hi sifu,
After upgrading my CPU to i5-3470. Am getting smoother gameplay on my dota2 with about 40-55 fps on near max settings.

Hence, a GTX950 would be my next upgrade. Before purchasing, I would like to check if my current spec + new GPU able to support dual monitor setup. Have an extra monitor not utilized.

Current specs:

CPU: i5-3470
Mobo: Asus H61M-K
GPU: R7 250
RAM: 8gb DDR3 1333mhz
PSU: Acbel 420w
HDD: 500gb
Monitor: AOC 23" IPS

Furthermore can recommend me a new good budget casing? Would like to replace my old one
*
Can support dual monitors.

As for casing, you can look for Tecware F3, new arrival, priced at RM 120+/- currently.

hi, this means that if i wanna play latest AAA games at high fps, i just need to buy a freesync monitor and that will do the job? cause my r9 290 can support freesync. i do not need to buy a better lets say rx 480 card?
*
Getting a FreeSync will not increase your FPS if your GPU is not able to output that much of frame rate.

So if you have a 144Hz with FreeSync and one 144Hz without FreeSync, what you will get with a FreeSync monitor is a smooth display all the way compared to the screen tearing and input lag from non-FreeSync monitor.

For example, your R9 290 is output-ing 100 FPS in a particular game, you will get the similar frame rate on both monitors regardless of FreeSync or no FreeSync, lets say after this particular frame rate (100 FPS), the FPS drops to 80 FPS, you will see screen tearing and experience input lag on non-FreeSync monitor while FreeSync monitor doesn't face this issue because the module helps to sequence the frame rate (variable) and display accordingly on the screen.

va or tn which one better? i tot IPS is the best right?
*
IPS > VA > TN

IPS - expensive, slow response time (min 4ms for gaming IPS panel and can go as high as 10ms+ on non-gaming IPS panel) but great viewing angle and color quality.

VA - much cheaper than IPS, provides the 2nd best viewing angle after IPS, relatively fast response time (~2ms).

TN - cheapest among all, poor viewing angle but extremely fast response time (usually 1ms even on non-gaming TN panel), can handle high frequency easily.

Not all 21:9 is curved screen, 21:9 is ultrawide resolution, some come with curved screen some don't.

do u know what is the cheapest 4k monitor in malaysia?
*
The samsung model that I posted earlier in the list is one of the cheapest 4K monitors in Malaysia.

Dell P2415Q is another one but with IPS panel and no FreeSync.

Hi Bro.
I am to planning to buy.
Graphic card is second hand.
Budget problem.

Got any issue for this kind of build ?
Just want to have normal gaming.
*
May I know your budget?

Intel build will be better due to better single threaded performance.

isnt 24inch kinda too small for 4K? meaning the diff btw 2k and 4k is quite unnoticeable for 24inch?
*
Yep it is not an ideal size for 4K UHD resolution.

24" for 1080p

27" for 1440p

> 28" for 2160p

Edit: Found another one, Dell S2817Q 28" 4K UHD TN 60Hz, around 2k+/-.

Hey bro smile.gif.
Is the ViewSonic VX2457-mhd 24" really worth it for gaming? I reckon only for FPS type gaming right?

How about between the :

Acer R231/241Y
Dell S2316H

Which would be your pick for best value and best picture quality?
*
It is just a basic TN monitor (1ms, 60Hz which is commonly found on TN panel) that you can find locally but comes with AMD FreeSync technology which removes screen tearing and low input lag.

Acer R1 series is using IPS panel and thin bezel design, IPS is known to be having slower response time but better viewing angle and color reproduction.

Dell S2316H is another famous entry series IPS monitor from Dell which offers their superior IPS panel and sleek thin bezel design, comes with glossy screen so you will see your reflection when you are under a bright light source.

All of them are 60Hz monitors.

If I were you, I will take Acer R1 series due to matte screen finish, I hate seeing my own reflection on the screen biggrin.gif

For FPS/MOBA player, go for 144Hz monitor.

*
Yes, there is one model up for pre-order last month By Asus but no more news after this, maybe Asus only brought in few units for those who pre-ordered so I didn't include it in the list. sweat.gif

Asus MG279Q IPS 144Hz FreeSync - RM 2699 (Pre-order price)

wah thx brooo

btw CM psu reliable?

and, do you think i should just op for gtx 1070 and i5 for 1440p gaming?
*
Only CM V series is trustable and reliable, it is a tier 1 PSU, others are just so-so (low/mid end).

GTX1070 is fine if you pick the Acer GSync monitor because the GSync module helps to remove tearing and provide smooth gaming experience with a very low input lag.

As for CPU, i5 is still enough but there are some titles out there which are very CPU demanding, so it might hold back the performance of GTX1070, not all but only few, most noticeable one is Hitman 2016 (benefit from high single core clock speed/hyperthreading) and Fallout 4 (benefit from extra cores and high speed RAM). Other titles such as Doom & Witcher 3 run very very well even on the lowest end i5, it's either optimization issue or the engine of the game does benefit from the extra core/clock speed.

But if I were you, I will opt for non-K i7 so I can fit the Acer GSync monitor because OC doesn't improve the performance of gaming substantially at the moment, just few FPS improvement only which is not worth at all.

hi all sifu, me again. My fren wanted to build a rig for dota and need suggestion.

Prefer i5
SSD (will use back old hdd)
no need gpu
need a fhd monitor 21 or 22'

is dota playable with hd510? low setting is ok, will buy a gpu in future
*
Go for i5 6400/6500 so you get HD530 instead of HD510 (i5 6402P).

HD530 is equivalent to GT740/R7 250 so medium settings should be able to yield average 60FPS on 1080p.

Please let me know the budget.

Have:
i7 6700K

Want at least:
16GB DDR4
RX480 (open for suggestion)
CPU cooler (air/water)

Others:
Recommend me anything good

Budget: <4k for CPU parts (case, mobo, psu, etc)
Maybe can stretch abit if worth it.
*
Are you going to overclock the CPU? Or stay at stock speed?

And you already have monitor right? 1080p 60Hz/144Hz?
