Any sifu here that pay for their figure using PayPal balance instead of card linked to PayPal? Do you topup in RM or USD to pay japanese shop?
*
You can do that but it's not wise to keep in usd. If you want to pay with balance, you need keep your balance in yen or in rm. Because when u transfer money from bank account to PayPal, RM is converted to usd, then later on during payment usd is converted to yen. You go through a currency conversion twice you'll lose money. Personally I'd pay in the currency of the seller, in this case, the balance is yen.

Saw this in AmiAmi, they dont allow other people to pay for you and vice versa.

Q. I'm having trouble with my account. Can I have a friend pay for my order? Can I pay for my friend's order?
A. Please submit payment for your orders using your own payment information.
If we discover payments originating from other individuals, the accounts may be determined to be duplicates and both accounts may be closed without warning.

I dont know if other shop like NY, Mandarake, GSC allow other people to pay for you, because I would like to have the option of using my family credit card to pay if there are problem with my paypal account, debit & prepaid card.
*
This is the problem I'm having. So far Amiami has not noticed it yet.
I have 2 or 3 orders that I dont want already so Im giving it to other people who are interested. I let that "other people" log in my account and pay on their own with their own paypal. So far amiami has not noticed it yet, if I get caught im screwed.

It's like, I cant cancel the order yet I cant have other people taking my order. It's ridiculous. Im being nice enough trying not to cancel orders.
So far I can do that on nippon-yasan, no problem

Does the person update the shipping address in your account as well? Or the item just ship to u and u will forward to them later.
*
Item will ship straight to the buyer's address (in another country). This isn't a problem, because you can claim that you buy gifts for your friend.
The problem is the payment - that person log into my account to pay for the order himself. That breaks the rule of not being allowed to let someone else pay for your order. As long you you dont get caught though. I can make new account with different name and shipping address in case shit happens anyway, i have 3 usable addresses. Only that i lose my preorders (not many, since most of my stuff i get from nippon yasan nowadays).

Does NY always entertain your request?
I use them once, leave a message to tell them dont mark as gift and dont undervalue, and they still do it lol.
*
oh those gift thing i dont bother anymore lol
but when i message them to change shipping address (another country) they are always ok with it. For this address change you have to use the "send a ticket" function

Is it safe to buy a MISB figure that is 3 years old?
Figure tend to deteriorate faster if it do not get some air right?
*
It really depends on how the figure is stored
If it was stored in a really warm warehouse or room the risk is higher. If it was properly stored in cool and dry places, it's not that much of a concern.

NY will auto underdeclare it one, no need to tell them to do it lol

27k is too rich for my blood at the moment but it's in my wishlist. I need to pay off my camera first (currently on a zero interest installment), then I'll see.

Hey guys I bought from AmiAmi, shipped via EMS, just said cleared custom and dispatch from inward office in KL... I live in Penang, how many days will it take?
*
If today dispatch out from KL customs, the next day will reach butterworth customs, then following day your local post office. That's how it usually works, but today and tomorrow are Raya breaks. You need to factor in delays due to public holidays and sundays. Bad timing. Some places are working as usual on thursday tomorrow, but some states cuti both wednesday and thursday.

If tuesday dispatch out from KL today wednesday it's at butterworth kastam but they r not working today, so no updates in tracking.

That Orchid Seed Snow / Blassreiter at 40% off attracted me, but that figure has no photographic value. Not to mention the bike was chopped off on the front, so, nah. Not getting it

Buy from them online, make payment liao, they ignore u. In fact they dont even know u already paid when u update them with receipt. Had to call them directly to bug them before they send the item. After 2 times back to back the same shyt I dont want to buy from them ady.

That was 6 years ago. Customer service worse than all my experiences at kastam combined. It's like they dont even want to do business, no fux given towards customers and orders online. Stocks are also inaccurate.

Grand Toys aka Griffon Enterprise going to bungkus? Preorders for few of their figures suddenly opened at Amiami with largely slashed price. Last time this kind of thing happened, the company for the figures bungkus afterwards. Can't remember which company.

Yes, Griffon is actually filing for bankruptcy. It was in the news in a post in MFC.

To everyone else, yes, figures don't last. But, the question is how long do they last? Newer figures are quite durable compared to the older ones. I lock up most of my figures in their boxes, and they never get sticky. I believe they can last at least 10 years easily, possibly even longer.

Scale figures. Nendos and figmas tend to have this problem but I have not seen it happen to any scales I own. I've been collecting for 8 years, and I still have 2 or 3 figures that came out 10 years ago in 2008. I also don't expose the figures to UV radiation over prolonged periods (like, several months to years) - that includes fluorescent lights. Though, I no longer have those fluorescent tubes in my home; every lamp is replaced with down lights or LEDs, since they are more energy efficient. Figures that i dont have a box, I keep them in a closed wooden cabinet. No light gets in. I don't have space for detolfs at my home.

I'm lucky in a sense that I focus on photography, so, I don't aim for large figure collections, so I get rid of some of my older figures by selling before they become "expired" except my favorites. There are also those that i will get rid of, selling them in MIB condition not long after I photograph it.

QUOTE(WingNut @ Oct 30 2018, 12:05 PM)
they last longer in boxes? i thought the plasticiser effect meant that the figures should be allowed to 'breathe' instead of being kept in their boxes?  hmm.gif i've got quite a fair bit still in their boxes simply because they're pg-rated  sweat.gif

i notice the sticky phenomenon on my lechery figures. to be fair, lechery's glossy finish kinda put me on alert from day one tbh. and in case my general statement is taken sweepingly, no, my skytubes/alphamax (or in fact my figures from other makers - native, gsc, dragon, alter, koto and max) do not suffer from stickiness. what i did notice was my seraphim sakuya (koto) suffered from paint fade - the pink ribbon around her ankles have turned transparent. that kinda got me paranoid and made me suspect that my other figures were suffering from a similar fate also (albeit ever so slightly). but i'm wondering whether it's my paranoia that makes me 'see' the paint fade when there's none.

admittedly, i'm not as diligent when it comes to completely cutting off the uv's. granted the windows to my study are heavily tinted, and the figures are behind glass doors in the display cabinet, my guess is stray can still reach those figures. perhaps that's it. will probably mode them into the av room instead. the other pg-rated figures are behind closed doors (without glass) and they seem to be ok. thanks for the feedback, exkurogane.

Fading paint is definitely caused by UV radiation. I also have gold plated gundam kits which are now 10 years old and still shiny bling bling while my friends' have faded. The difference was i hid the kit in a closed wooden cabinet. Meanwhile white colors and skin areas might turn a bit yellow from radiation. Yes, you should not lock your figures up in box for long periods, but i open my figure boxes only once or twice a year just to air out the "trapped air" in it, and the figures are completely fine.

Quality of the figure - both in material composition and paint type, will also affect the longetivity of the figure. Lechery and Kotobukiya aren't known to make quality figures. Until today, after 8 years of collecting, I only have 2 or 3 koto figures, many others I sold them after photographing them.
