Hmm, that one is quite risque actually. My concern is Penang custom being very strict, they've opened quite a few of my parcels before even though they were able to pass KL custom easily.

For me, I have Saekano swimsuit figure coming in so hopefully by the time those officers won't be so hardworking anymore.

Yeap, but there's no nudity. If this is against our laws, then tons of photos you see on facebook would also be against our law, including all types of gravure photography that do not contain nudity. I have friends who photograph women in suggestive poses as a career. In Malaysia.

Actually the criteria is whether it was considered as pornography or not (no nudity doesn't mean it's not pornographic). What's scary for this criteria is it is up to the judgement of the custom officer. When my Kuroki Mikage figure ( https://myfigurecollection.net/item/331694 ) was confiscated last time, I did ask what are the criteria for the stuff to be considered as pornographic, and the officer can't answer it, which means they don't actually have any guidelines for it. I escalated the matter to their boss that day, and the boss told me he will just follow what his front line officer decision. So the decision can vary between custom officers.

That's pretty much why I always wear my ID tag as a civil servant, a Dr., with me to kastam I suppose. Last time years ago i used student ID and status to get away with lots of things. They very cincai with me last time. But that mikage figure of yours is huge, and summor big tits lol.

*Edit
My lala passed KL kastam with ease
Praying hard for the next stop over here in Penang

Does Nippon Yassan provide you a copy with the fake invoice when u ask them to under declare? Last time when my item got held by custom and is underdeclare, they ask for an invoice.
*
Yes, you can request them to generate an invoice

Over here in Butterworth they just want to see the invoice, even on my phone also ok. So i photoshopped a screenshot of the invoice or email to show it to them. I purposely make the final amount close to rm500 but not taxable. I like to edit it to around 8000yen, excluding shipping.

Undressing should be ok, my friend has a figure with a similar undressing concept and it passed

Meanwhile my concern is this one, it's arriving soon, will ship out this week. Otherwise I dont have any ecchi figures within the next 6 months.

Yup, because i bought it in Taobao. By a certified genuine product seller. Paid about Rm830 equivalent including shipping, close to the original MSRP of 20k yen. Her market value is now already 4 figures in RM.

As using EMS/Poslaju is one of the two default methods (the other being SAL) of importing figures from Japan, just wanted to ask if anyone has ever gotten taxed for Poslaju with CIF less than RM500?

As you might know, there exists something called Jadual Kos Tambang Dagangan which is used by our Customs to calculate the freight cost for any international imports delivered using a express courier service (UPS, DHL, FedEx, EMS/Poslaju). The value differs by the import country but most major countries are around ~RM300 to ~RM400.

If my understanding is correct, by right, it doesn't matter what the actual shipping fee is and the Jadual is used instead to determine the freight cost. Which is a problem as this basically means that almost anything of value you buy will automatically exceed RM500 and be subjected to tax. But it happens very often too that Customs does not use the Jadual to calculate and will instead just follow your actual shipping fee.

I've only received parcels from UPS twice but already got taxed once because Customs calculate using the Jadual. On the other hand, I've never gotten taxed for Poslaju despite receiving multiple parcels from them.

Based on my personal experience, my theory is that Customs seem to go easy on Poslaju when it comes to applying the Jadual. Just like to see if your experiences support my theory.
*
That applies to UPS and FedEX from what i know, maybe DHL too
But i never had problems with DHL from Japan. If it is from USA then confirm GG

SAL and EMS are not subject to those Kos Tambang Dagangan you mentioned.

SAL confirm not subjected to the Kos as it's not considered a express service.

EMS I also thought initially not subjected to the Kos, but another forumer who I believe works in the logistics industry said that all shipments inbound are subjected to it, Pos Malaysia included. But whatever the case, it seems that Poslaju rarely or does not get the Kos applied, which is a good thing for us consumers.

On a slightly related note, is standard airmail or registered mail less likely to be inspected by Customs compared to SAL/EMS? And are books and DVD more likely to be subjected to Customs inspection, regardless of method of delivery? I've thought of buying some gravure magazines + DVDs before, but just worried about the Customs part of it...hahaha.
*
Usually the shipping cost for EMS is declared on the shipping slip, even when no invoice was attached, so I'm not concerned about that at all.

It's true that books and dvd have a higher risk, regardless of shipping method. Naturally EMS gets targeted more often. Not because they are looking for pron but they are looking for things to tax. Finding illegal stuff is just accidental discovery.

Is credit card conversion just bad? I paid for 11,200 yen item suppose to be around RM410 or so but got charge RM440 daamn.

Cant use paypal bcause age restrict from amiami
*
More or less, correct amount. If Google says yen is 0.036, the card rate will be around 0.037. When you pay with credit card in any local shop during a purchase, sometimes shop owners want to charge you an additional 2% fee. It's also applicable in online transactions. Along with those fees that are automatically charged and a slightly higher exchange rate, the amount you pay will be 6% to 8% higher than your expected calculation. Regardless of whether you used credit card directly or via PayPal, there's not much difference (for every rm500 there's about a difference of rm10 only). That's why i rather use PayPal and have a peace of mind.

My Purple Heart order was 19,680yen. That's about RM715. I was charged around RM743 via PayPal.

I stopped using Paypal because their conversion rate most of the time differs by quite an amount compared to cc. For example, if Google says 0.036, cc will be around 0.037, but paypal could be 0.039. Only sometimes Paypal could be cheaper but most of the time it was more expensive than cc.
*
The difference is not that much actually. Within April alone I used direct cc and paypal interchangeably to see the difference. Recently i used cc to pay my Kaori and paypal to pay for my purple heart. Difference is very minimal. it's not as bad as 0.039. Paypal is around 0.0377 for purple heart when i paid. Maybank's CC would have been around 0.0372+, while google states it's 0.0362. But this is assuming credit card did not charge a 2% fee, usually there is a small fee whenever u use a CC. Some merchants absorb it, some merchants will charge the customer. What i noticed so far, is for every RM500 you pay, if u use paypal it's about rm8 to rm10 more expensive than using CC directly, which is not a big difference. Yeah, i do understand that rm8 can feed you a meal already. The common assumption that paypal is too expensive is not true.

Also, paypal's account system for personal accounts and business accounts are different. Business users can make paypal charge an additional amount in percentage for other fees during payment, such as the 2% card fee itself. I've sold figures on ebay to overseas buyers so i do know a bit about these things, though i do not use a business account for paypal.

I even use paypal to buy pay for movie tickets in GSC website lol. For local transactions like these there is no difference in amount compared to using cc directly. I dun have to wait for the stupid 6 digit TAC sending to my phone. One click in paypal and payment made, more convenient.

Then i think the way i use paypal should be correct already. I avoid letting PayPal do the conversion whenever possible. From my experience there's not that much of a difference but some ppl experience a very inflated amount when using PayPal.
Last time when RM was tanking, i even used PayPal to profit. Accepted payment in usd when RM was 4.0, withdrew when it was 4.35. Made a bit extra from it.

If Customs decide to apply the Jadual Kos, it doesn't matter whether the shipping cost is clearly stated on your invoice/shipping slip or not. They will follow their Jadual regardless.
If you see the paperwork which I received along with my taxed shipment, you can see how it was originally printed the actual shipping cost of RM80, which was then crossed out by hand and replaced with RM 480, thus making my parcel taxable. I've seen this happened to others as well.

[attachmentid=9724530]
Hmm...So what happens when they find pr0n? They use for their own pleasure or will they send PDRM knocking at your door?  laugh.gif
*
For jadual kos so far im very sure EMS is not subjected to that though. I've been using EMS exclusively for the past 3 or 4 years. Throughout lots of purchases within the years i was only taxed once. Porn = "confiscate" (well u dunno if they keep it for themselves though lol). But questionable/grey area items, moderately ecchi figures included, if they want to F with you they'll say it's not permitted but it'll be sent back to seller. If they cincai, u can have it. Sending back to seller, quite often u can get a refund from seller, but only the item price. U lose a bit on the shipping cost. I do have friends whose stuff were sent back.

Good to know that throughout your many purchases, never kena jadual kos. I think can safely say that EMS won't kena.  thumbup.gif Buying stuff from Japan no problem actually, because EMS is normally the most widely used and best option for Japan. And I think you also mention that DHL (which is what Amazon Japan uses) from Japan also no issue? Problem now is buying from other countries, where express service is normally via DHL/UPS/Fedex and not EMS.

I might take a risk and try ordering some gravure items, see if can slip through without any issue. Just hope they don't classify it as porn. I don't want to kena serve some notice asking me to hadir in court.  unsure.gif

*
Yes, EMS is very common so i dont think it will be a problem. As for DHL, Amazon Japan (and also Amiami - available as an option) uses it - I've only bought from Amazon Japan twice in my lifetime so far but yeah, i never had issues. You know, Saw a huge 40-50% bargain on a figure and just grabbed it. But if it's from western countries, then yeah, confirm gg

The car is 1/8, the figure is 1/7. It's a perfect match because anime girls are short. If both were the same scale, it will look like a little girl standing next to a car

Pretty much why i will buy lewd figures from taobao nowadays instead of from japan. I combine ship with other items they wrap the thing so tight in layers for combinations of several parcels, that the kastam cant even open. Values were never declared on the parcel as well. In fact kastam tend to turn a blind eye to parcels from taobao, even if it was temporarily detained for 1-2 days.

Of course, this option is only viable if you know how to use taobao in the first place. Even those who can speak, read and write chinese find the site difficult to use. Their shipping system is also quite different.

If anyone is still interested, there is a small guide on the first page of this thread itself, but i still recommend getting help from a friend if u r unfamiliar.
