hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

i jus went to lowyat to survey bout air cooling which is the same meaning as third party processor heatsink. I can say that i was interested to get 1. Before this i did post a topic asking recommendations from sifu's here. They recommend me the thermaltake tt big typhoon. shocking.gif When i c it at 1 of the comp shop at low yat it was huge man. So ther rise a question in my mind. Since it is so big n a bit heavy la.When installed into casing la n ur casing is put straight will the weight of the huge heatsink wreck the motherboard ? If ur casing is place lying on sumthing or floor i tink will b ok la. But wat if i put it straight. Will it make the motherboard to bengkok n the heatsink socket on the processor can tahan o not.

hope to hear sum advice from sum sifu's here. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

no lah... no problem. even silent tower also can install horizontally on a vertical casing. google around n u will see...... smile.gif but vertical and horizontal installation have a difference in performance, especially those with heatpipes.

for me ..i think too heavy also not very good..cos the heatsink when u put the casign strainght up the weight of heatsink will try to pull down and probably will have minor gap due to the leg of heatsink not strong enuf to hold the heatsink

anyway its fine using heavy heatsink..jus if u wana move ur pc extra careful..if u the one who dun move pc at all there wont be any problem

blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif
Jus curious to know will ther b any side effect if the heatsink is being installed n remained for a long time. Veli scare the motherboard will bengkok. i did try to hold the tt big typhoon it seems quite heavy. A guy in it hypermarket tell me tat the motherboard may go a bit bengkok cos of the weight n another guy in another shop say dpends lo but he added sum advice to me is tat better the heatsink din hit on the motherboard capasitors.

it wont bro..normally big tower heatsink comes with backplate..so the mounting its very strong to hold the sink onto the proc..there wont be gap..

b4 u decide to get certain sink hav a look ur mobo..do some measurement 1st see if it fits ur casing..some casing dun hav enuff height between ur proc are n psu..n den see if will touch anything or not like caps or northbridge cooler..

if touching caps its not good..u can bend the cap but not advisable..anyway sink design nowdays have good clearance..

jus do alot research 1st b4 u decide to get wat cooler

My own comment la. its 2 big n i m living in rented house. So sumtime my fren may come to use my com. Sure dey gona bend my case n have a look n eveli time when i go back hometown sure bring it back meaning i may move it 3 -4 times a year equals to my holiday times. tongue.gif

avoid those aquagate n bigwater laa..u pay so much for sucky stuff

get high end air cooling lor..scythe ninja or noctua at bulk is very very good..can beat the crap out of those entry level water cooling..if these 2 cant fit ur case get something low profile like scythe andy samurai master or TR si-128..sure no issue at all one

spend less n u get good performance biggrin.gif

aquagate is not nice la.. for rm250 better buy nice aircooling such as infinity, or find zalman's coz zalman's not so heavy.. if too long need to open casing, make a hole that fits perfectly.. looks more like muscle car vroom vroom.. heheh

p/s: sorry for some stupid comments.. abit drunk lolz wakakak

heatsink size does not matter at all. it's the weight which is an issue.

Don't buy all those complete kit watercooling system like CM aquagate @ TT bigwater, you will regret doing that... whistling.gif

Trust me, there will be more & more people are going to say that is true.. laugh.gif

If you really want to go for watercooling, fork out at least RM600 from you're pocket, then buy all those Swiftech, Asetek watercooling kit, they are the "REAL" watercooling kit... smile.gif

hate my cpu temp.

i tink have to do a poll result who agree with the weight of the heatsink issue. But so far now how many of u agree that the weight of the heatsink will wreck ur mobo in short or long period of time. Any1 out ther willing to share sum opinion ? You are welcomed to do so. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

May b unless after install the big tt my case have to put laying on the floor. It may reduce the chance of wrecking the mobo. So no weight force from the heatsink.

Dude, like someone said couple of posts earlier, it won't wreck your mobo or else the maker won't be selling it right? If you put a huge and heavy hsf, bounce around carrying your rig and yes, it probably will bust your mobo.

Also depends on how you carry your case. If you have a big HSf, you have to try to hold it lying down (mobo horizontal) while moving it. Just have to handle your equipment carefullyla...
