my home Unifi is now 10mbps. parents watch lots of YouTube. sometime I play game will lag. does upgrading to 30mbps will make any difference ?

I have recently upgraded to TM VIP 50Mbps (50dl, 20up) package and was told the stock TM router does not support unifi up till that speed. Only by cable. My questions:

1) Are we entitled to get a new router which can support the 50Mbps speed both by LAN & Wifi?

2) If not, any recommendation on what router to use to fully utilize the speed?

@blacktubi LAN is able to reach 30mbps. Not sure what you meant bout wireless AC but I'm connected via 5ghz channel.

rumours spreading fast there will be PRO, ADVANCE and LITE plan. the ADVANCE we already know 30/50mbps. PRO I heard that maybe 100mbps and above. LITE maybe 5/10mbps. the informer said tm will announce soon. but i'll take this as a rumours.

if i have just upgraded to the 30mbps with 2 yrs contract. can upgrade again and contract double to 4yrs???

anyone facing very slow download speeds and high pings at night?

currently im using unifi 30/10. Max download speed is normally at 20mbps but at night im only able to get max of 3mbps using speedtest by ookla.

any solutions to that?

TM called me again and trying to pursuade me to take up th 30/10 package for RM179 + Ruby package .... No change in existing hardware but will have warranty coverage renewed on the old hardwares whereby if rosak, they will honoured the replacement. Mind you my current vip5 package is more than 3 years already. Can take or wait for something better to come up?

As many have suggested here, what you need is a new router especially if you want QOS or device bandwidth limit features.

Personally I'd recommend Mikrotik since that's what I use. The RB951Ui-2HnD is RM300. It's over your budget by RM100 but well worth the features. I'm sure other brands such as TPLink, Asus and DLink have routers with similar features too.

With regards to bandwidth, I'm actually in a similar situation as you. However in my case, it's my kids who are on Youtube sucking up bandwidth all the time. A single iPad can easily use up to 30mbps of traffic all by itself when buffering a video.

There're 2 ways to approach it, QOS based on ports. eg: higher priority to gaming ports or whatever boils your kettle. Two, limit each devices' bandwidth. I use number 2. It's easier to setup and works for everything including torrents. For example: I have 4 iPads in the house. If I allocate 2mbps to each of them, I'll still have 22mbps for myself. If none of the devices are in use then I'll have the full 30mbps. If you need more bandwidth you can just allocate less to the other devices. Youtube, for example, is watchable even if limited to 512kbps.

You can also do both if you like.

Just upgraded from 10mbps to 30mbps. Previous 10mbps was consistently getting 9-10mbps. Which is good.

With the newly upgraded 30mbps (same stock TM router), I get 18-22mbps via wifi.
Remembered that a friend said he got 18mbps via wifi, after he tried with wired LAN, he can get 30mbps consistently.

So I tried mine with LAN cable too and it worked! ... getting 31mbps consistently. Lucky!
*Tested on both TM Unifi Speedtest and Speedtest.net

Now I'm wondering what should I do to get at least 27mbps++ on wifi .... rather lazy to change the wifi router.

In early February, a TMNet telemarketer told me that the upload speed for 30Mbps plan has been upgraded to 10Mbps, so I agreed to the upgrade from VIP10 to the Advance 30Mbps A couple weeks after the call, I've yet to receive the upgrade. When I tried to upgrade via the TMPoint at UTC KL, they claim that there is no such 10Mbps upgrade for the 30Mbps plan, and they keep referring to their website (which has already reverted back to the old 5Mbps).

For those already on the 30Mbps plan, are your upload speeds constantly 10Mbps? I don't want to sign the contract if my upload speed is dropped to 5 Mbps. If it's already 10Mbps, TMNet is doing a really lousy job at communicating the upgrade in speeds to their on-ground people.

Today I experience extremely slow downloading speed. Anyone experiencing this today?

I am downloading the TV series LOST. The downloading speed used to be around 50 Kbps.. but today suddenly dropped to about 5 Kbps..

Finally got upgraded from VIP5 to U2U - 30Mbps + Ruby Pack for RM179

if we change the password, can we get update from TM or effect other technical issue? (update for router firmware or STB version or sometime TM operator will configure our modem from call center)

Haha... the thing is the appointment timing is always way off. I wonder if I can just mention to them regarding the adapter that resolved the issue and get a new adapter.    Appointment made just to check the outside connection/port... and even that it on Friday. 

its should be included right ? but my latest billing they charge me separately.they charged me rm59 for the hypptv aneka.dammit..looks like im gonna go angry rant at tm point later.
