US Spec Civic's Interior is ranked top 10 among luxury car segment.

This year’s winners:

Chevrolet Camaro ($46,095)
Chrysler Pacifica ($48,455)
Honda Civic ($27,335)

Mercedes-Benz GLC ($54,360)
Nissan Maxima ($38,750)
Volvo XC90 ($84,005)

Honda left us disappointed with the interior of the ninth-generation Civic compact car, but it certainly hits the mark with the cabin of the all-new 10th-generation Civic, which has been on sale for a few months.

We’re evaluating it for the 2016 Wards 10 Best Interiors program, and we’ll announce winners April 14. It’s early in the competition, and we’ll evaluate about 50 vehicles this year, but it’s my top vote-getter so far after testing the first 10 nominees.

Why? Because of the premium leather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel, the heated front AND rear seats, the lightning-fast Bluetooth phone link, the auto-dimming rear-view mirror, the 10-speaker sound system with subwoofer, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning.

Think about it. Not long ago, all of those features would have been found exclusively on expensive luxury cars. Now they’re on a spacious Civic Touring, priced out the door at $27,335, including handling charges. That price also gets you voice-recognition, remote starting and a 7-in. electrostatic touchscreen that is loaded with entertainment options, navigation, additional climate controls and vehicle information.

Look a little closer, and you’ll find the Civic interior checks the boxes that matter most in our competition. Fit-and-finish is impeccable, from the near-perfect front edge of the headliner to the stitching of the second-row center armrest, which is generally stowed away and rarely seen. Headroom for an average size male is ample in the second row, even in the center seating position. For a design flourish, a bronze accent strip stretches across the instrument panel on the passenger side.

But wait, there’s more. The center console and armrest can be reconfigured to your liking, integrating movable cupholders and a storage bin that’s as deep as a 5-gallon bucket. And the contrasting black-and-beige color scheme is handsome, especially with the vertical black stripes on the front seats.

Yes, the Civic interior is sharp, but it will face challenges this year from two other compacts, the Ford Focus and Hyundai Elantra.

-- Tom Murphy

-----------

Thai Spec RS interior also edges out the Mazda 3 2.5ltr in the Australian market. I think there is a quality difference between ASEAN Civic spec interiors vs. US spec ones, based on pictures of both available on the internet.

BMW has the Degenerative Braking system la. EEV status is not just granted because of FC or emission standards.
*
You can check on the criteria for EEV status based on NAP 2014:

http://www.maa.org.my/pdf/NAP_2014_policy.pdf

The CKD 1.5T Civic technically should qualify for Small Family Car with it's sub 1400 kgs weight and 6.0 ltr/100km FC..

20. Based on global practice, EEV is defined as vehicles that
meet a set of specification in terms of carbon emission level
(CO2/km) and fuel consumption (L/km). EEV includes fuel-efficient
internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, hybrid, electric vehicles
(EV) and alternative fuelled vehicles such as Compressed Natural
Gas (CNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Biodiesel, Ethanol,
7
Hydrogen and Fuel Cell. The EEV technical specification for fuel
consumption is per in the following table:

a) For Passenger and Commercial Vehicles
SEGMENT DESCRIPTION KERB WEIGHT (KG) FUEL CONSUMPTION (L/100KM)
A Micro Car < 800 4.5

City Car 801 – 1,000 5.0

B Super Mini Car 1,001 – 1,250 6.0

C Small Family Car 1,251 – 1,400 6.5

D Large Family Car 1,401 – 1,550 7.0

Compact Executive Car/E Executive Car 1,550 – 1,800 9.5

F Luxury Car 1,801 – 2,050 11.0

J Large 4x4 2,051 – 2,350 11.5

Others Others 2,351 – 2,500 12.0

Just wondering, is this carbon build up only affecting turbo direct injection engines? Those conventional non turbo won't have this issue?
*
DI carbon build up actually adversely impacts normally aspirated engines more than turbo DI ones. Good article on why here:

After seeing the Dark Ruby Red Pearl on the Civic beside Modern Steel I think the Red is nice on the Civic

Prices and launched confirmed for June 9th Thursday. Based on info from my SA, Honda Malaysia is having a Nationwide Showroom Event (NSE) on Saturday June 11th as part of the Civic launch. Hopefully test drive cars will be available to all dealerships by then!

Yes, i guess they shud include the new exclusive 'Carnival Red' from Honda Jazz... that red at least looks sportier and merrier than the 'dark ruby red'
*
Agree. However, nowadays trend is for more pearl or sparkling type metallic colors on cars to give the reflective shine on the angles on the body panels. Dark Ruby Red is a Pearl effect color, but way too conservative, while both Rallye Red and Carnival red are flat colors.

China went ahead with a daring color for the local market. Wonder how it will be accepted here if HM offered us this color:

you guys think we are getting similar specs like Indonesia?

Just noticed its 1.5 turbo variant has a separate digital aircond display, unlike Thailand's

The Thai 1.8 lower spec head unit has the separate aircond display like the indon Civic 1.5T. Looks like the unique andriod powered 7' Indon spec headunit is different to the OEM Honda 7' headunit which has the A/C display integrated as one of the functions on the 7' screen.

We are getting all the Thai interior features plus Indonesian rear aircon vent. Seems like ours is the best specced in Asean.
*
I think the Thais and the Filipinos have the best spec in ASEAN with the RS Civic. Choice of colors also more than us..

Thai RS has rear spoiler and black grill which i dont fancy but it lacks rear aircon vent which I think is the crucial factor which separates the high and low end c-segment cars.

What feature Filipino has which we dont?
*
The RS comes with red ambient lighting, red meters and turbo meter, on top of the look good external bits (to me is a must have to make the Civic look good). To me the rear a/c is bulky and takes up legroom for the Civic (might also take up space for the central arm rest storage). It will likely get in the way and kicked if you have more than 2 persons seating behind.

For me the best color for civic is Lunar Silver, white will make the car look "chubby".It doesn't show the lines and the curves very well compares to silver. This dark silver will look good in sunny day too. It will turn bright silver as u prefer in brighter lighting condition while not trying to be overly bright. And I like how it accent the chrome bar. Looks premium to me.
*
Both are new local HM colors, so it should not be boring to see for the next few months. Alabaster Silver Metallic is being retired by HM to be "replaced" by a new Silver - I guess it'll be Lunar Silver for existing models.

Personally, I'd prefer the Lunar Silver to be even darker, almost like the Merc C Class Palladium Silver which looks like metallic light grey. White is also always more sporty vs. silver as it's a bolder color vs. silver. But in the shade Lunar Silver looks great!!

Compare the image above with Lunar Silver under the sun - looks like the older Alabaster Silver Metallic under direct sunlight..

I believe the most popular color will be Pearl White for the Civic. It's a very nice color, but even nicer with the RS black front grill.

Too many white cars on the road. Nothing special edy.. If you close ur eyes and throw stone on the road sure hit white car. 😝😝😝
*
Both the OPW and LS colors will be great choices. They are new fresh Honda colors. Because of the Pearl effect white will be "bulkier" or muscular while Silver will look leaner. Parked in the shade Lunar Silver is the nicest color with darker window tint.

BMW actually has 4 internal settings for the service intervals. 8K, 10K, 15K and 20K (if im not mistaken). But because numerous models experienced accumulated sludge build up, BMW reduced the interval to 10,000km for all newer 2015 models. You can request to have it increased to 15 or 20K, but BMW will record this as 'requested from Owner'.

*
When I had my BMW, I would do a precautionary oil change (@5k kms) in between OBC based oil change intervals due to the known oil sludge buildup issue on the 6 cyl N52 engine (without resetting the OBC oil svc counter after the change). Unfortunately it's not covered by BSRI, so have to sendiri bayar for these precautionary oil changes. Per ltr of BMW certified LongLife oil from the dealer was ~Rm95 if I recall, and the 6 cyl will take up to at least RM500-600 worth of oil alone not counting oil filter and labor charges..

Honda should have a pure OBC based service interval notification like most German cars today. Half follow OBC half follow manual fixed intervals will be too confusing to customers to figure out when their svc is due.

Biasa la. We Malaysians like to whine and complain about everything especially online..

But good info shared by ZeroSP on the unique svc interval model for the 1.5T... Does the 1.5T onboard computer also list out when other service e.g. brakes, spark plugs, air filter etc intervals are due?

I thinks we should make a list of owners / bookers. Need to state info such as model, color and which sa it was booked. For those taken delivery, they can state their booking date, duration and also date of delivery. This will help prospective buyers in buying decision.

FYI, I have the impression that smaller towns have way lesser on their booking list. Though their delivery quota might be lesser, I was told those booked 2 weeks back can get their car around Raya. That's pretty quick.

Myself I've booked 1.5t premium opwhite on mid April and scheduled to received around end of this mth.
*
Ya we should have a CivicX owner group to share and help each other out. Mine is 1.5T Premium Modern Steel. Booked mid May. No info on delivery date as stock allocation info not available yet. But most dealers are supposed to get at least 15-20 cars on Launch date of different specs and colors.

From what I understand from my SA, the queue to get the car is not based on how early you place the booking, but how early you provided them the Bank Loan Offer letter. So if you book in Dec, and get loan approved in May, you are in the May queue. Cash buyers will be based on date of booking.

Also have Navi and "premium garnish" whatever that means. Maybe chrome bits here and there. Maybe leather seats std on the premium model as well?

But the LED headlight is a must have item on the Civic. Makes the car look really modern and advanced.. Reminds me a little of Audi Matrix LED headlights in terms of the design.
