well for your chip is normal as you know the pentium series before C2D, the chipset generates a lot of heats...when you just start the pc the temp is around 50+..to reduce the heat try improve the air flow of the casing and if you have the cash to spare get a better heatsink..

oh yeah..if your heatsink is dusty GO CLEAN IT!!

Heh bro you got urself a spanking frying pan called pentium D there man. Real hot and stock HSF just doesn't cut it especially if airflow not good enuf. If possible go get a nice tower-type heat sink and reduce the temps. Or start off with a better casing exhaust fan and seeif that helps first...

Yeah, vey99 is right...
Pentium D 8XX sequence is the hottest intel processor ever built..

While the Pentium D 9XX sequence is a little cooler as it uses two cedar mill cores compared to the Pentium D 8XX sequence that uses two Prescott Cores

Pentium D 8XX - Two Prescott Cores [90nm] - Smithfield
Pentium D 9XX - Two Cedar Mill Cores [65nm] - Pressler

The thing that u have to check first is, the heatsink, are you using Stock Intel Heatsink? If it's true, then it's the time to change the heatsink to a 3rd party heatsink.

2, make sure u're casing have a good airflow. Please give us a picture of how does you're cpu look inside, this way, we can help you out in understanding & clearing the problem. smile.gif

That pc can last for 2 years, but if u really love u're pc, change the stupid intel stock heatsink to a decent 3rd party heatsink... icon_rolleyes.gif

RM300?
You can get either Thermalright Ultra 120, Thermaltake Big Thyphoon VX, Scythe Infinity with that kinda budget smile.gif

But, for Thermalright Ultra 120, it's kinda hard to get one today, as it's worldwide shortage...

It's the best heatsink on the market right now, that's why everyone is rushing to get the Ultra 120... wish.gif

& ur budget RM300!!! wah wat a high budget, what casing u use? maybe it can fit those high-end tower heatsink, tell us ur casing dimension or ur case model hands.gif
