Sometimes, a dead cat bounce can be for the morning session only or a 1 day show. I have experienced it before for glove stocks.

Morning session, my unrealised profit was five figure but by afternoon afternoon session, all the glove stocks retreated and my unrealised profits was wiped out and became unrealised losses.

Thanks, Uncle...as I'm clearing my gloves after months of waiting...they baru start going up and up fast. So I don't wanna be hopeful and probably take this chance to clear entire remaining balance of 2nd liners because they've been down >40%.

You are welcome. As I have said before, you can always sell in stages (whether to lock in the gains or to reduce the losses).  smile.gif

No right or wrong approach. Just decide and don't look back or regret the decision.

Switching off the computer, hiding under the bed and refusing to do anything is the worst option!  tongue.gif
*
Yeah, selling in stages now and 'try' not to look back, lol...I'll be damned if 2nd liners shoot up for longer period than I thought.

QUOTE(skty @ Mar 3 2021, 11:59 AM)
everyday is bargain hunting. The question is what is the price that you want to achieve for averaging down and the plan for it.

averaging down to get more share quantity is much more difficult to do compare to buy into uptrend because you are fighting with smart money to collect bargain chips.

check around, is those hardcore glove supporters have turned bearish? if yes, then we entering into despair stage, which is the last stage.  biggrin.gif
*
Me...with TG and Smax. Despairing, indeed, lol

QUOTE(Rinth @ Mar 3 2021, 12:03 PM)
I'm still holding spx and its over 10k loss as at ytd haha...... but today pump back to below 10k loss liao... dunno want happy or cry lol...

But yea, if today can close at current price or higher, tomorrow hopefully should continue green.....Based on the chart if rebound, the range should be at around RM 5.6-5.8 and if reach there, i prepare to cut loss if the rebound is gone case....
*
Good ah, dared to pump in more...at least today it's very green.

QUOTE(skty @ Mar 3 2021, 12:48 PM)
hmm.. you make up your mind to sell...

nvm, this is a priceless lesson that can guide you into the future investing.

if investing, don't chase high, because when you are in paper loss, without experience, you will easily cut when the price breakeven and miss out the whole "uptrend" because that is just the starting point of a surge. This is human behavior. Everyone who is new has to go through it.

if trading, be discipline with your risk management before start looking into how much you can potentially profit. Protect capital is the utmost importance before talk about profit. The risk-reward ratio is very important. If you chase too high without a base nearby, your cut loss setup is very far and risky.

good luck.
*
Thanks, skty...for sure, learnt alot and although damn pain, but taking it strongly for now.

Today I see second liners risen alot, keep selling, don't wanna care if I goes even higher because gloves are too erratic. Don't wanna deal with stocks that give restless nights.

If I survive this round of glove stocks slaughter (for the 10th time), probably time to say "no mas".

Time for me not to go crazy and sai lang into glove stocks again in the future.  tongue.gif

Haha, I think many also feels the same. Rather not chase for delusional gains in exchange for the volatility.

I've read somewhere, there are still thousands of stocks out there!!

Sold of 1/2 of HLT and Ruberex around noon. Sold too early. They are still trending upwards. Both breached +20% in the market now.

Now selling down my remaining shares of HLT and Ruberex in tranches.

Uncle, may I know if there's a limit to how many times we can sell the same stock in Rakuten? I was selling in batches and entering to my 4th time (I didn't expect the price to rise so much, so kept selling), and it's rejected twice when I tried. Do you know why it happens?

As far as I am aware of, there is no limit how many times we can sell the same stock in Rakuten on the same day in batches.

But sometimes, we have 4000 shares.

1. Then we enter an order to sell for 3000 shares for price A.
2. Then we mistakenly key in an order for sell for 2000 shares for price B.

We are short of 1000 shares to sell. So, the order to sell get rejected.

Or sometimes, we mistakenly try to sell shares from our Cash UpFront Account when the shares are actually sitting in our Contra Account. So, the order will get rejected.

Is this your case?
*
The 1st scenario happens to me before, and since the system won't allow for submission to sell, it wouldn't go through in the first place.

For my case, after submission, then it shows Rejected. I'm puzzled now.

I don't have Contra account too.

For my side, I'm sticking to my plan...sell all 2nd liners and keep my main ones for long term.

Then this is strange. Time to Whatsapp or call Rakuten for help?

Call Rakuten at 1800-88-6001 or Whatsapp at 012-668 6001.

Yeah, imagine if this happens at the hype of the price rebound (which is taking place today), gone case.

Thanks for your useful replies!

You're right, the people here are quite respectful and humble. Some are cuckoo too, but has some sense of humour. Not to mention, very helpful. Welcome and do participate whenever.

Yep started to enjoy reading here too, so much better than the forum posts in i3, if there’s even a need for comparison. One thing I really like is that we’re all honest, average investors sharing our journey filled with success, losses & personal fears, as opposed to those hyped-up gurus trying to sell programs. It’s very down to earth. We get to see the real picture of the everyday person trading/investing.

Ditto, brother.

Don't know how I'd be without this place.

I have KGB, it's going down by 10%+, can anyone let me know what's the factor contributing to this, and should I be averaging down?

what make you buy KGB?

I have just added position at 2.18 just now.  brows.gif

Cuz they're related to tech industry by supplying gas and chemicals to them, no particular reason to buy other than this cuz it was showing a good upward trend back then, lol

Seeing that you got in, my heart a bit okie now, haha

I just entered KGB at RM2.180 just now for trading rebound. It is now down -10%. But no MOS. TA and FA also not very good. Enter at your risk.  smile.gif

Wait for the dip for the following stocks. But they may never dip again!  smile.gif

1.  MMC
2.  Genting
3.  Asiapac
*
I watched GenM went up up without entering the past months, thinking they'd dip, manatau lagi up, lol...same stupid mentality of mind that tells me aiya, already high, won't go higher one. Then now can watch in envy, lol...I bet the moment I enter, it'd dip. Maybe I should try, lol...

What's Uncle's target price to buy?

Trading buy

1. Entered KGB in 3 tranches when it keep on dropping all the way from -10% to -15%. Suicide mission.

I ended up with an average price of RM2.110 at -0.54% at closing.

Tomorrow I will either win big or lose big with KGB. I did say in my earlier post that there is no MOS (margin of safety) for KGB and that this is a high risk venture.  smile.gif

Catching a falling knife?

Hope it does not turn out to be JFtech, KPower, SCIB or Tasco. Just to name a few counters that keep dropping sampai pisau terbenam dalam tanah.  sweat.gif
*
Uncle ah...can give siu lui ji some guidance on your approach for tomorrow with KGB? Are you planning to actively monitor its price to target the sell or setting it at a target price?

Siu lui ji haha, you’re galgal? What’s your entry price?

I’d say your strategy must depend on why you bought in the 1st place, for the business or for some lucky money in the short term volatility?

Let’s hear what our unker sogu has to say!
*
Haha, yes, old gal gal tongue.gif I averaged down today, but didn't have time to monitor and it matched at 2.15 doh.gif after I checked. Now my average is 2.3. Guess it's pretty high :/

QUOTE(Vanguard 2015 @ Mar 4 2021, 09:31 PM)
I really don’t have a fixed approach. It depends on the movement of the stocks.

Sometimes, when I make a RM500 to RM1000 profit or more and the stock is for pure trading, I will sell all.

For KGB, I will monitor it tomorrow morning. I will probably sell 2/3 and keep the remainder if it goes up about 8%. If there is no momentum and the price is retreating after an initial surge, I will sell all. If it goes up +15% to +20% (unlikely), I will sell all.

Cut loss policy also applies. KGB may fail tomorrow. 😃

For you, if you are a value investor and plans to keep KGB for at least 1 year, then today was a good opportunity to top up.

Sorry, I know I didn’t really answer your question.
*
That's okay, Uncle. Thanks for your reply.

I'll be monitoring too and see how it goes smile.gif

If you believe in this stock, then just hold over longer horizon. It is volatile but it can go both ways.

Up because it has drop so much that a dead cat rebound may happen and it has attracted attention from bargain hunters who don't mind paying slightly more that 2.09.

Down because the sentiment for tech is weak but as far as I am concern, most tech shares will get beaten down so you need to ignore the noises.
