Wow, looking at Spurs average age squad. They have more good days to come if they keep that up (thought the penalty was fortunate)

6-0 win for us was a good good result. Will help in the goals tally at the end season but it's the points we need first with 12 more games left in the league.

We need a good run. Everyone to stay fit and injury free. Sturridge goal was sublime. We need him to stay fit. Klopp didn't want to take chances n replaced him when we were comfortable. That's how important we have an able striker to score. I feel sorry for benteke. Still we need the kind of muscle striker with some teams that's stubborn hard to break..

On a side note of dominating display, Barcelona too was a monster demolishing Celta Vigo 6-1. Now that's complete mauling. The goals by Barcelona was like watching the Harlem globetrotters going thru a routine practice.

They can even afford to play fancy with penalty kicks lol

Great to win like that, but it is just three points. Of course it's good to see us having a +2 goal difference for a change!

Shouldn't get carried away though. Up until Milner's goal, the bottom team was still holding well and our midfield didn't look solid, with too many misplaced passes and losing possession cheaply.

Villa really crumbled after Can's goal. In a sense, Liverpool didn't thrash Villa. Villa just collapsed.

We are just so spectacularly inconsistent. So, we cannot even say from this point onwards we will be going on a winning run. We could play badly come Thursday and be held by Augsburg or..even lose!

If we got Couth, Struj and Firm up front in the last 18 games with this midtable standing then we can call ourselves inconsistent. I want to see those 3 guys played more than 10 games together and come back to discuss with their stats in that 10 games.

I understand your excitement with this forward trio and I would even consider a transformed Origi as part of this excitement.

However, if we look at the three behind them, one would understand our concern : Hendo is really playing below par, patchy at best; Milner is not the creative type nor the fastest midfielder; of course, we all know that Can sometime just can-not lah.

So when these three have a bad day, our undisputably erratic back-four will be exposed and, with another Jekyl-n-Hyde goalkeeper behind them..oooh.

The truth is there are just two many problems to rectify in our team/squad. Thankfully, almost all the PL teams have been inconsistent to different degrees this season. Otherwise, we may find ourselves having a separate competition with Chelsea at this stage!

Ya, have the same view.
Especially for Toure's goals, a schoolboy shambolic defending, with totally no one mark him in front of six yard box at all, and just simple header, don't need to jump as well, just standing there.

No to take away the credit away from the team, as players did play well together, but the big scoreline was more about mixture of AV shambolic defending + average good performance by returning players.
Having a proper striker (Sturridge started) made a lot of difference to the team.
Firmino is not good to lead the line alone on his own, he seems more suit to AM instead striker.

yeah, we need world kelas midfielders. Hendo, Milner doesn't cut it if compare to top team. Creative, free kick specialist, DM are what we needed.

Can we even afford him realistically, if he does want to leave his club? laugh.gif

Free Kick Specialist reminds me of Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

Too bad, even in Fifa he cost 20m laugh.gif

Doubt FSG will pony up, after the failed Alex Texeira attempt :/

Sell Ben and other dead woods and overly surplus-ed Midfielders to fund the money. But of coz need to ask him nicely if he want to join the midtable class to fight for top, aka his spirit.

Is Benteke that bad?

Or are we not using him the right way ( a.k.a. the Aston Villa way )?

Can't expect him to play little short passes when his primary attribute is to bulldoze defenders and try to get on crosses and long ball :/

Thou if LFC choose to offload him, I do wish we get a striker of some caliber at least.

Well, some called him lazy, unfit for klopp system or whatever it is. he just doesn't call it with us. We all can see struj, Origi are more fit to klopp's system, Ings also potentially fitting to klopp's system.

Did you not see how the goals dried up when Benteke came in? Our play, especially up front, was not as smooth flowing too.

If we use Benteke the way Villa used him, i.e. adapt our playing approach to suit Benteke, we might become like Villa shocking.gif - they have been struggling to avoid relegation for the last two seasons or so. Unless he is willing to work his socks off and transform his playing style, I cannot see FSG agreeing to continue paying his inflated wages!

Of course, FSG will have to weigh up how much they would probably lose in selling Benteke. The way he is playing, most clubs will want a lelong price. FSG will be fortunate to be able to recoup 20 million!

We should have three good strikers next season : Sturridge, Ings and Origi. One more would be good. However, I think Liverpool needs to spend on the defence this summer, maybe in a big way..

Err, I thought Target Mans are for the wingers to loft the ball to him to convert instead of him getting the ball himself and go Suarez? laugh.gif

Those target man is more suit to midtable, relegation team, whereby they may have less possession in most matches, and rely hoofing the ball upfront to hold up the ball, then scored from the crosses come in later on, or just like Heskey/Owen combo, Heskey won the header which fed to Owen to latch on second ball to score.

If playing passing game, target man become too stand still and affect the team fluidity.
