Positive points for me from this morning's game :

- we won and are in a cup final!
- Flanagan played more than 90 minutes and is ok
- we have rather good penalty takers : particularly surprised by Lucas
- our goalkeeper is a confirmed penalty stopper
- we are still surviving on all four fronts

Even the manager is stressed until kena appendicitis!

This is a really poor team. While the top teams have been inconsistent, we have been consistently lethargic and mediocre.

Hopefullly Klopp knows how to start all over at the end of this miserable season. Of course, with Man City completely distracted by such an untimely announcement, we may stand a little chance at Wembley.

Other than that, there's not much to look forward to this season.

The title should be between Leicester and Arsenal.

Great to win like that, but it is just three points. Of course it's good to see us having a +2 goal difference for a change!

Shouldn't get carried away though. Up until Milner's goal, the bottom team was still holding well and our midfield didn't look solid, with too many misplaced passes and losing possession cheaply.

Villa really crumbled after Can's goal. In a sense, Liverpool didn't thrash Villa. Villa just collapsed.

We are just so spectacularly inconsistent. So, we cannot even say from this point onwards we will be going on a winning run. We could play badly come Thursday and be held by Augsburg or..even lose!

If we got Couth, Struj and Firm up front in the last 18 games with this midtable standing then we can call ourselves inconsistent. I want to see those 3 guys played more than 10 games together and come back to discuss with their stats in that 10 games.

I understand your excitement with this forward trio and I would even consider a transformed Origi as part of this excitement.

However, if we look at the three behind them, one would understand our concern : Hendo is really playing below par, patchy at best; Milner is not the creative type nor the fastest midfielder; of course, we all know that Can sometime just can-not lah.

So when these three have a bad day, our undisputably erratic back-four will be exposed and, with another Jekyl-n-Hyde goalkeeper behind them..oooh.

The truth is there are just two many problems to rectify in our team/squad. Thankfully, almost all the PL teams have been inconsistent to different degrees this season. Otherwise, we may find ourselves having a separate competition with Chelsea at this stage!

Is Benteke that bad?

Or are we not using him the right way ( a.k.a. the Aston Villa way )?

Can't expect him to play little short passes when his primary attribute is to bulldoze defenders and try to get on crosses and long ball :/

Thou if LFC choose to offload him, I do wish we get a striker of some caliber at least.

Did you not see how the goals dried up when Benteke came in? Our play, especially up front, was not as smooth flowing too.

If we use Benteke the way Villa used him, i.e. adapt our playing approach to suit Benteke, we might become like Villa shocking.gif - they have been struggling to avoid relegation for the last two seasons or so. Unless he is willing to work his socks off and transform his playing style, I cannot see FSG agreeing to continue paying his inflated wages!

Of course, FSG will have to weigh up how much they would probably lose in selling Benteke. The way he is playing, most clubs will want a lelong price. FSG will be fortunate to be able to recoup 20 million!

We should have three good strikers next season : Sturridge, Ings and Origi. One more would be good. However, I think Liverpool needs to spend on the defence this summer, maybe in a big way..

Just watched the last 15 minutes of a recent Schalke game on tv because I wanted to have a look at Matip.

He's got height, he heads the ball well, he controls the ball well with his feet and bring the ball almost to the opponent's penalty area. He seems to be able to lead too as he is talking to his teammates, directing them during a corner.

Not conclusive as it was only 15 minutes, but he looked steady and seemed to be a key player in Schalke's team. I like the looks of him and since he will be joining for free, I see very good value too!

In this strange season, all the top teams have been inconsistent. The two most consistent teams so far are Leicester and Spurs.

Spurs might have started their consistent run just a little too late. Of course, the ball is round like we always say. So the PL takes a step back into the romantic past - Leicester to win!

Great determination and good anticipation too!

He deserves a new contract.

Two changes to the team that beat Man City : Sakho in for Toure and Moreno in for Clyne. Both Sturridge and Couts on the bench.

Hope Klopp knows what he is doing!

Except Milner, who is overly robust (perhaps making up for his teammates) and Mignolet, the rest look so lethargic! Ok, Origi seems to be trying hard but he's not very clever.

Sakho looks like a really slow learner and nearly got turned all around again by average players. Moreno is a risk whenever he plays! Hendo is back to his infamous passing backwards.

I hope Klopp gets very angry in the dressing room!

Slow motion showed a very slight contact. Benteke has perfected the skill/habit to fall at the slightest touch. So now..LOL!!!

Honestly guys, a draw would have been a little flattering for us tonight. Well, true..it's high time we got a break playing against Palace!

I hope Klopp knows that these 3 points are real presents!

Lovren and Benteke joint man-of-the-match..WHATTT??

Ok lah, Lovren was our best defender tonight and he made one very good tackle, totally unexpectedly that almost led to a good chance.

Certainly, Lovren has improved quite a bit.
