how long to convert from 700mb avi movie files to DVD format that can be played and watch on normal DVD player ? got any guide ? i try using super and imtoo. but taking quite long time.
*
its depend on the video resolution, format, file duration and the dvd conversion quality setting. and the most important things, ur CPU, the faster the better.

super and mediacoder >_>
both are just frontend of some command line application.(ffmpeg/mencoder/xvid/x264/blabla)

basically ffmpeg/mencoder(another frontend for ffmpeg lol) is just a codecs library, here is the list of supported codec/container/... brows.gif

rmvb file is nasty coz it has variable framerate(VFR), iirc not much app can handle it, unless u know how to use avisynth, to convert the framerate to constant one then transcode it with other video encoder.

You can try the HQ-slower profile, should be Dxva compatible.
bitrate 2000kbps, if the encoded files turns out bigger than expected, lower it abit eg 1800 or 1500kbps.
other settings already optimal so not need to tweak anymore.

There is no best settings, you will get the same answer if you post a question on doom9 tongue.gif

I cant find HD-HQ profile for x264 on megui >_>
btw, HQ-insane isnt the slowest, it just using 16 reference frame(slow as hell already but better compression).
the Motion estimation algorithm still using multihex,
there are 2 are the slowest, ESA and SATD ESA, which may give you <1fps encoding speed brows.gif

any good program for m4a and aac audio convert to mp3?
i have goldwave but it doesn't do that.
*
Ever hear about foobar2000?
And grab the lame 3.98.2 from here http://rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php
or the helix mp3 encoder (manuall configuration is needed) http://rarewares.org/mp3-others.php
foobar2000 only comes with audio decoder.

Need a converter for my HTC Touch2.
*
Im not sure if htc touch 2 can support h264/avc, you could try MeGUI, and try to use video profile that suitable for ipod video first, either h264 or Xvid (aka MPEG4-ASP).
for audio it support up to HE-AACv2 (SBR+PS AAC, smaller filesize than normal AAC but still maintain the acceptable audio quality)
for video container just use mp4.

MeGUI, or the other alternatives are, SUPER or Mediacoder, These are called front end, the back-end program which does all the decoding stuff is libavcodec IIRC.

Badaboom (nvidia, aint free) or Mediacoder (use cuda), but dont expect good quality from them....
IIRC x264 with fast-preset encoded video quality still better than the above 2 sweat.gif
Pray to god and hope X264 will use DirectCompute or OpenCL in the future tongue.gif

OR, intel quick sync http://www.intel.com/technology/quicksynch/index.htm kekekekekek~!

icon_question.gif which format can i convert from >250MB to <50MB ?  current format .mpeg

need help!

Thanks in advance. notworthy.gif

You could try MeGUI and use x264 to compress, but dont except you can retain the original quality if you wan to convert down to 50mb, you have to use very low bitrate/high compression and you might need to resize to video to 480p or 320p.

QUOTE(spikeee @ Sep 21 2011, 12:17 PM)
hi guys, i've been watching avi files via usb thumbdrive on my Philips HTS3510 home theatre system. i want to watch HD videos with 5.1 audio (encoded).

i have a few 720p/1080p videos but in mp4 extensions. can't play on the HTS system.

was wondering if i convert to .avi using a proper converter, would it work? i'm very much more interested in having the 5.1 audio for my surround system.

appreciate your thoughts
*
You could try Divx to transcode the h264(most likely) to Divx MPEG4 ASP video, since the Philips HTS support up to Divx only.
You can leave the audio untouched so it wont suffer quality degradation from transcoding, and probably can mux it back to the final transcoded video.

Or just connect your pc to the HTS via HDMI, but i have no knowledge/experience about it, FFdshow support HDMI/SPDIF pass-trough so you could try it as well, configuration might be complicated, but it will save alot of time compare to transcoding a video that usually will take 10~20 hours that depending on your cpu processing power.

To : Mr 1024kbps

I am having difficulties with .wtv from Windows Media Centre!
Doing tv recording and .wtv is so unfriendly + its HUGE! (running out of disk space...)

Any way to make it smaller without loosing much quality? (only recording at 720p)
How on earth people BlueRay-rip into .mkv so small and still retain high res high quality? (1080p)

sad.gif

Sorry if my questions are repetition in threads.
Thanks in advance to all for help!

How big is your hard drive?
Those live recoding video codec are more optimized for speed rather than compression efficiency,
video codec that use higher compression use more cpu resource and its slow, thus unsuitable for realtime encoding with high compression ratio.
you will need fairly powerful computer to caputre video with high quality + compression, eg, x264.

Those blueray rip was encoded with x264, most likely.

You probably need this if you want your live recording use less disk space,
http://www.microsoft.com/expression/produc...o_Overview.aspx < aint free lol.
You prolly can use VC-1 or h264 for live recoding but your must use nvidia GPU cause its CUDA optimized.

looking for QUALITY audio converters.
All lossless formats must have:
flac
alac
ape
wma
wav
aiff ...etc

Got? I found one skysoftware lossless audio converter, its not working.

Any recommendation?
I tried SUPER, free studio, uninstalled.

Currently using NCH switch sound, but dont have ALAC.
*
Foobar2000 < the best lossless audio converter and player.
It does support reading all the format you mentioned, but not all are supported on transcoding, like WMA, AIFF, ALAC, ALAC is proprietary lossless format from Apple, AIFF is rarely use on Windows platform, WMA encoder is available on WMP.

I have foobar2000 installed also. i only convert wav to ogg/m4a using foobar. but i got a problem.

If i convert to m4a, the length changed from 16384 samples to around 168xx samples.
neroAACenc, constant BR, 512kbps (if not mistaken, i choose highest possible option)

ogg no problem.

I havent try with wma.
ALAC so far i can't get a 100% quality conversion.
i havent try foobar, got encoder to download?

My priority is m4a format output (as lossless as possible)
*
NeroAAC is lossy encoder, you wont get lossless output unless you used iTunes to convert to ALAC, same for WMAlossless, neither one are availabe for foobar.
Why dont just use FLAC?
unless you want to play them on your DAP(ipod, walkman ect)
Ipod = ALAC
Android = FLAC
WP8 = WMAlossless

i tried before using itunes to make alac version, but when i convert back to wav, i dont get 100% quality.

Actually I'm making impulse response samples. (irs)
They can be used in an audio mod for android

IRS - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216193
V4A - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223

I record the sound played by a device, example an creative zen mp4.
Previously i thought it can't support flac, so im trying to get m4a (alac) to work.

But i realise its the bit problem. this mp4 cant play 24bit or higher, so in the end i use 16bit flac.

If u're interested go the XDA links i posted and study what i actually do smile.gif
V4A is a very good audio mod for android.

I contacted moderator to open 1 section for android mods (few months ago)
I think malaysian just not good in modding stuff and dont show much interest.
The android section is 100% phone models instead of softwares.

I'm still trying to contact someone regarding this, any idea who to contact?
*
IS the audio integrity that important? and how do you very file the audio integrity? foobar can verify the audio integrity.
mod got limited privilege i think, you need to contact staff or higher.
or just ask mod to pin it, if they think it's worth sweat.gif

Unless your PC is too slow to process the audio file, convert to FLAC with foobar2k is much faster.

Just make sure you're converting from CD source or any lossless audio file, because converting any MP3/MP4 to FLAC makes no sense.
