I am aware that this is an LG OLED Thread but these information of Sony A90J will serve as a reference of how the upcoming G1 will perform .

A quick reminder , Sony doesn't drive their OLED as hard (bright) as other brands .

We have some information on A90J thanks to AV/s and DeWayne Davis .

- Confirmed to be TV-LED via Dolby Vision.

- New setting in HDR mode , with brightness or gradient preferred options .

- OOTB custom brightness on A90J is around 800 nits on 2 , 5 , 10% , 175 nits for 100% .

- 2 x HDMI 2.1 , like last year Dolby Vision 120 hz is still not supported , not too big of a deal atm .

- Both HDMI 2.1 ports will have a peak transfer bitrate of up to 48 gbps .

Several electronic shops I know from the AV field in China have also gotten the TV but they don't calibrate it . Mostly some side by side comparison screen shot .
I would suggest not to take them seriously as still shots can't really do a TV PQ Justice .

Do you happens to have an insider news on when C1/A90J is going to launch here in Malaysia? I am patiently waiting for the C1 release in order to grab CX at discount, but I am not ruling the C1/A90J out if the price difference are not much.
*
A90J around June , C1 May-June .

That is assuming it is shipping on time .

Would you happen to know whether A80j will also be released at the same time as A90J? Or A80j would come sooner or a bit later than A90J.
*
A90J is available in the oversea , we should get it in about 2-3 months .

A80J , on the other hand has not yet released officially in the UK . It was taking pre-order though .

We never had both A9 and A8 launching at the same time in MY , the A8F launched before the A9F , while A9G launched before the A8G .

Samsung typically releases their 2021 line up first before LG , followed closely by Sony.

Of course, assuming the Malaysian price is relatively similar.

*
Very big assumption , that is .

Whatever happens oversea , does not necessarily apply to us .
We have never had anything bigger or smaller than 65 " from the G series .

If the price is lower , it will sell like a hotcake thus we will not be getting any leftover since the production units of these " EVO " panels are limited .
But then MY not being the market LG focused on is not exactly unreasonable .

Considering plenty of people in this forum ( and country ) looking at their crappy 1:1000 contrast IPS monitor still think OLED is nothing but gimmick , it will require more than sales to convince LG to change their mind .

Nothing to do with the purchase power too , we have a bunch of people who are willing to import a $10k phone but a 5k tv is far too expensive for them .

Some numbers here on G1 from fellow calibrator so big props to him.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

TL;DR :

1. G1 is not as bright as many would have expected , 740 cd/m2 peak and full field 170 cd/m2 .

2. G1 is still slightly dimmer than Panasonic GZ2000 .

3. Very accurate out of the box , even more so when calibrated properly .

4. new webOS 6.0 is a punch in the gut .

Really? That’s a good price. I’m only seeing 5999 so far
*
Desahome is selling 65 " C9 for 8999 , E9 for 9999 .

6999 for 55 " CX , 1500 voucher rebate + 300 touch and go .

I still can't , in my conscience recommend the BX to anyone especially if you don't calibrate your screen . The basic toolkit you will need probably end up costing you a lot more than buying a CX .

If you are eyeing for the OLED you must care , even just a wee bit about Picture Quality and the BX is counterproductive to that intent.
But LG want to sell their C series , they will continue to land nerf hammers on the B series .

If you really can't spare that $1000 difference , just buy the C9 from 2019 instead . They seem to be in similar price range with BX right now .

eh what happened to the 950T?

I am fairly sure he is talking about the soundbar smile.gif , not the 8K TV if that's what you mean .

I can count on one hand how many 8K Samsung TVs they have sold in MY last year and I have most of them in my contact list .

Yes , I can confirm that LG MY is indeed planning to release its 48" C1 here in 2021 .

Note here , the keyword being " Planning " .
Things can always change last minute .

But if nothing go wrong , yes you should be able to to purchase 48" C1 in MY .

They are also scheduled to release 65" and 55 " version of the more affordable A1 models here later this year .

Hmmm....must be C9.
*
Nope , we didn't have any 48" OLED back in the 2019 (C9) .

But the stocks in SG are also very limited last year , here is hoping things are ramping up to full force this year .

Looking at the bright side , we will be getting many more OLED models , providing more options to the audience .
That means some of the mid-range LCD audience too will get to experience true black in a more affordable way .

The 60 hz A1 should also be making their appearance later this year so it is a win-win situation for TV audience in MY .

No , there was no commercial 48 " OLED back in the 2019 either , which means 48 " C9 never did exist .

Any news on the prices this year? LG has dropped prices significantly this year atleast in some countries. Hopefully LG MY follows suit.

On a side note, there's news that samsung is in talk to purchase oled panels from LG. I guess that means LG has somehow really managed to increase yields and make oled affordable.
*
No news on the price , yet . But I don't suppose it will stray too far away from last year's MSRP .

*
Not simultaneously but over the year , just like last time .

No news on the QNED yet .

Any idea what sort of price range the 48 will be in?
*
It will not stray too far away from the 55 " .

These 48" are selling like a hotcake because they make a great monitor, therefore it will only be available in very limited quantity .

I expect it to land @ around $8000 MSRP at launch . I could be wrong , surprise us LG MY wink.gif .

any idea the toughly price of C1 65"?
so itchy to buy already feel like buying the CX already cannot tahan lol
*
Probably around 15k , if you are planning to buy at launch .

If you drive a hard bargain you can lower it to 12k ish , perhaps .

I try not to talk about pricing on TVs too much because I actually know how much profit these retailers make from each unit .

Places like SH , HN makes a crap lotsa money for each high end unit they have sold because they are the brand's favorite customers .
Even more so for those overpriced QLEDs .

QUOTE(calkh @ Apr 25 2021, 04:43 PM)
Damn.....after saving up for so long....and I cannot get the G1 - I guess LG can't find enough of a market here to bring it in....
*
If you are still craving for that " EVO " OLED panel , we have 65 " A90J this year .

But looking at the recent reviews , can't exactly recommend it over the " regular " models .
