If the phone launched later with much cheaper price, then we all will kena con by Xiaomi.
This happen before on the crazy sales of Mi3 last time, where they first launch with RM899, and 2 month later, their price lower down to RM765.

Now, G5 at least selling the same price as Xiaomi online store at RM849.
At least Xiaomi not dropping their Mi4i, Mi Note, and Redmi Note 2 price.

Think Xiaomi already developed out a Redmi Note 4 with more powerful spec, release end of this year? Almost same price?
A lot of Redmi Note 2 buyer already regret on their earlier Redmi Note 2 purchase. (I am one on them)
Their Mi5 is not like their Mi4 and Mi3, which sold close to RM2K.

Last time I used to think like this, end up it's a waiting game. So now my requirement is as long as it is cheap enough, battery life is good, fast enough for whatsapp and facebook (lag free), decent camera (especially in low light), Imma happy guy

I think Mi Malaysia is not confident with MYR value and rather play it safe. They quite confident that such pricing still will sell like hot cakes.

Nope, sell like "hot cakes" is because of GemFive discount.
If no discount, sales will drop drastically.
So, sales will be bad on official Xiaomi website, not even sold out.

It is funny to see where no one is rushing to buy from seller that price them at RM929, both gold and grey color.
Price factor indeed is the most affecting factor.

PS : Singapore sold at SGD299 for 32GB version. No option for 16GB version. Slightly more expensive than Malaysia set.
But of course, we can't compare those price with direct currency conversion, different earning.

Ppl not confident enough with G5 will still get from mi.com

Gemfive just jeopardize some of the sale, but the official RM849 one still got no problem to sold out.

I think that was a glitch, rm749 is for 2gb-16gb model.
