other feature
-call record auto in out buildin
-restrict data usage each app
*
The restrict data usage control, the most favourable feature for me... other than that is lock app... that's all...
I do hope their new MIUI is better, less bloatware which hogs 1.5GB of ram on startup...

if you can get this at 2k with AP warranty...
you can get a 2nd hand set of 6P also around that price...

mine is used Ori malaysia set, bought on 22nd of March...
if you can get 1-1 warranty from Huawei why you need to buy AP with that price (for Mi5)???

Experience wise for multitasking i can tell you that MIUI isnt that good...
base on my few device from them during the 2014 and 2015 era...
at last decision is still depends on individual... for now i will not get MIUI device yet...
even though MIUI feature is nice, especially the Lock App and Restrict Data base on app...

wow... it cos 400+ for additional 32GB internal storage space...
BTW i think for MIUI 3GB is not sufficient to do a good Multitasking job behind...
i remember someone told me the system took 1.5G at start up...
so multitasking with a lot of apps might be a challenge...

look at Samsung S7/S7E which lags behind on Multitasking speed test with HTC 10 or others...
it clearly shows that if the system takes too many RAM on startup...

i think it really shows that Mi5 might be OTW here by June...
since all AP sellers drop their price already by now...

This is cheapest SD820 but performance wise still lag behind for XiaoMi... speed test by YouTubers isn't showing the SD820 power...

QUOTE(metaloid @ May 25 2016, 08:10 PM)
If ur into flashing, Xiaomi phones now are very hard to unlock, u have to apply for it. Also there's no aosp or Cm rom for mi5 yet. I heard miui 7 takes up 1.5gb ram startup, stock Android on my nexus 5 takes up 600mb.
I'm not bashing mi5, it's good value, by all means go for it if you're okay with miui.
*
same is my thinking... haha... the Stock MIUI SUCKSSSSS.... takes too much ram...
although it is packed with some feature... but it takes too much RAM and hamper multitasking...

2nd on your previous post... hard to unlock and troublesome...
Mi5 structure is weak, careful... some one manage to bend this... of course Nexus 6P also...
with 2nd hand price of Nexus 6P around RM1.8k vs AP Mi5 RM1.5k i choosen Nexus...
cos of the Stock ROM... happy with it now although the battery doesn't last long, SOT ~4hrs...
thats why i choose Nexus 6P instead of this, 2ndly is Nexus 6P is officially available here...
so now waiting for HTC 10 or Mi5... might just jump to HTC 10...

QUOTE(Tiaso @ May 27 2016, 09:37 AM)
Somehow using global ROM, the battery is very consuming, 1.6gb RAM is consumed by MIUI. Maybe one of the reason is I on 4g the whole time. However, it's understandable that global ROM has been removed from MIUI website because its not stable, I guess I should flash back to MIUI China first. And one thing, the battery charging is superbly fast, though it's kinda hot when charging.

Overall, the phone is pretty good for me now. Take note that it's a budget phone to begin with, don't compare exactly with S7 or Iphone and you're all good.  rclxms.gif
*
yup it is a pretty decent priced phone... but the phone structure is weak....
but with that price on SD820... no complaints... still i recommend ppl to get more RAM with MIUI...
3GB is barely enough and 4GB is sweet... cos on stock it already eat up 1.5GB on start up...

I think because someone mentioned that miui will keep trying to connect to my server. Will need  to disable it/sign out then the battery life will be good.
*
do some optimization on that.. i don have the one...
but i think you setup sync options to WiFi and also some others stuff to prevent that to happen too...

Can consider this as well for those thinking of Mi5. OS looks ok cause theres app drawer. http://www.lowyat.net/2016/105228/zte-anno...ss-than-rm2000/
*
yup saw this... but ZTE servie here ok or not... not familiar with this brand...

QUOTE(Bugeca @ May 27 2016, 11:23 AM)
Funny thing about China phones are they never bother to upgrade the Android as per Google 18 months update mandatory. If Google proceeds with listing out the bad manufacturers list, the top section surely will be filled by China brands.

Just surf over MIUI Global site, you can see their game.
*
well that's what stopping me from buy Mi phones, of course the Stock UI consume too much RAM also...
well we can't do anything about that really coz they charge you cheap already so don expect too much lo...

QUOTE(Tiaso @ May 27 2016, 11:25 AM)
looks good, but pretty pricey too. Reviews good on it?

minor updates is nothing... their MIUI version means nothing also...
all MIUI lastest version for Redmi Note 3 still stuck at Lollipop...

one plus 2 or 3 sounds good with cynogem mod. but i never was every interested in it to begin with mostly coz it cost a lot, prefer to stick to larger manufacture, eg xiaomi, huawei, lenovo=no i think its got too much problems)

yeh i wish MI5 had stock andriod or cynogen mod, I would so buy it if it was available.
*
Bro OnePlus device no more come with stock CM already... still dreaming ka... u need to flash custom CM la... mostly it will be flagship but cost around RM1800, previously is all around RM1600...

LOL bro you seriously dream too much.

RN3 32gb even if i do direct conversion, its 899 RMB to RM557, so in M'sia selling RM300 excess.

Mi5 128gb is 2599 RMB  to RM1.6k. So you are expecting Mi M'sia to sell RM150 extra?

In addition, India Xiaomi is selling 32gb at 24,999 rupee which is RM1,521. So, calculate yourself  icon_idea.gif

Dream well bro  brows.gif
*
i think Mi5 32GB is around RM1500~1600, 64GB will be around RM1700~1800...
and lastly the top range will be RM~2000
we can't denied that MIUI do charge us more... with the Shipment and Tax add-in...

***Oppss not MIUI but Xiao Mi

QUOTE(Tiaso @ Jun 14 2016, 09:53 AM)
yea i totally agreed with you. it's 820 with a price so cheap, even if the final product isn't on par with s7 or 6s. Still, it's a beast at this price  rclxms.gif
I bought the transparent case from the shop beside Sunway, the price isn't exactly as shown by their shop in Lelong, but still, it's just RM10.
*
it is not really a beast in performance... look at the speed test in YouTube it was ranked at LAST!!!!
its SD820 isnt really performing as per my expectation, maybe the MIUI is making it slow???

with RM1.7~1.8k for 64GB and 3GB RAM with SD820... i rather get Nexus 6P...
as 3GB of RAM isn't enough with MIUI in it... same as TouchWiz...

haha i mean beast at its price. don't get me wrong.  hmm.gif and yea maybe the chipset is of a lower quality one, still, for the price, what else can we complain  icon_idea.gif  (oh ya, i got my 32gb at RM1,350)

im using 3gb RAM, i didn't experience any lag at all. Just problem with the dumb ROM, LOL.
*
well can't expect too much with the price... what a amazing price there... damn...
should hold for a while with my N6P purchase last time...
no Lag but the RAM consumption isn't that optimized as compare to stock AOSP...

lag or smooth in the UI you need compare with others same chipset phone only we will realise...
try to look for Mi5 speed test in YouTube only you realise... they compare with a lots of phones...
but overall for that price for Mi5 and you got N6P performance u can't complaint much...

haha yea, Im still waiting for Cyanogen and see how it goes. Hopefully smooth like butter  brows.gif

but im pretty sure alot fans waiting for Mi5 cheap price at M'sia is gonna be so dissapointing  whistling.gif
*
yea... until now i still duno why ppl like MIUI so much...
i like AOSP, until i got N6P i really know that light skinning will help to improve experience...
but heavy skinning like the J5 i have from my company, i realise the lag on the phone...
and the multitasking sucks... while my wife previously don complaint much with her Sony SP...
or even the M4 aqua, but i found that the Samsung J5 sucks when i try to swap a few apps together...

QUOTE(small_fish18 @ Jun 14 2016, 11:49 AM)
That's the ap price so far. new to android and got no jalan to get from China.

Compare to the release price and hectic to buy online plus no stock, i think it's worth to pay extra 200-300 for dealer.
Only not happy for the warranty only.
*
well it depends... if from Mi Malaysia i think you got no problem with the warranty...
and i'm happy to give the extra 200-300...

but from others 3rd party then you might have problem...
like DirectD they only give 3 months warranty to LCD, Charging port, Battery and also charger...
only the transceiver will get 1 yr warranty for AP set...
not sure about others...

it that is the price i think still can buy if you don mind the MIUI...
or you wanna flash to CM or others AOSP...
