Saw ppl comment that the Mi 5 in M'sia is quadcore only, not octa core, true?
Will you guys get one Mi 5 2mw? What's the advantage of this hp against others?
Heard there are a lot of bloatware for mi 5, can we avoid / remove it?
*
Quadcore. Octacore is just marketing. Just that clock speed is downclock.
I won't buy from xiaomi malaysia. Bloatware is china rom which can be uninstall.
The adavnatage is the battery life. MIUI operating system that you can make the phone alarm ring even though it's off. You can even schedule the phone to on itself. The power saving modr enable you to set battety saver, balanced or performance. Thr above tweaks can lengthen battery life considerably.

Oops, I thought new chip also got 8 cores instead 4?? Same goes to SD 810? Will 820 tends to overheat easily?
Local set will be less bloatware, then can be faster than Mi in China? My frens said Mi phones die fast compared to other, their durability and quality bit in doubt...
*
810 is the one with heating problem. 820 fix it. Not true. Mi phone have one of the best battery life (mi3 and asking my friend about her mi4c). Note that I am not talking about the redmi line. Cause like redmi note 3, have 4000mah, performance worse than mi5 (gsmarena)
If you are like me who maximise battery life over eveything else, there's a setting there where you can set for battery saving. On mi3 I used that setting and my mi3 never lag.

Except price, why wont buy from Mi Msia? I thought most hp also got their own battery saving mode? My old HTC flagship has it but the battery still dont last long, unless i turn on extreme which also stop my internet usage.. so with those saving plan, the battery still okay??
What do you mean by hogging fuctions? Does it mean out 3gb, maybr 2gb ram is usable compared to other hp maybe can fully utilise 3gb?? Yout mi 5 got that issue? Claimed warranty??
You bought one mi 5? Ur review?
I see, with battery saving, can it last for a day?? If value battery a lot, should you try Leagoo Shark 1 at RM999?? I like Mi 5 cos its written spec, weight n thickness, but not surr if it can perform as per thr written spec..
*
Most phone battery saver mode practically just off internet, wifi, Bluetooth etc. Mi one is different. It will slow down the processor. If you are like me, light user (whatsapp, sms, call, taking picture only), you won't feel a difference in usage. You will get one extra day of usage by using power saving mode. This is for mi3. I don't own a mi5 yet but will most likely get it 6 months later. You can even boost the mi5 battery life by setting the alarm clock and OFF the phone before sleeping. The phone will wake up. No android can do this yet not even nexus. Even without the battery saving mode, it can last 90+ hours on standby according to GSMArena. Other blog also mentioned it's awesome battery life.

All phones/laptop/computer won't be ultilise the full RAM cause the system needs it. People complain that mi eats up a lot of RAM (more than nexus, sony). But when you are looking at them, they are basically skeletons so of course they are faster. Never like vanila andoid. Too plain. There's no nice useful feature.

So far, all blogs give good review for mi5. The only complain is the camera. Camera doesn't match the marketing specs but is still decent.

Keep in mind that if you are like me don't care about updates, mi is good as it won't slow you down even after 2 years of usage (light user here). If updates is really important to you, look elsewhere as you won't get the latest android.

Thanks!! I consider myself light user but suft a lot of internet.. my current hp will die in merely 2hours of internet surfing even with battery saving mode on... But my concern with Mi 5, their built quality, and if it is good enuf for day to day use with mild usage..

Go read gsmarena and techradar. Techradar user said he's a heavy user.

How come they can be cheaper?? Bit worry with the $$$ if they failed to deliver, and may face issue to find dealer to repair it under warranty?
*
No need to worry about warranty cause directd will fix any phone. Once had an ipad 2 which fell down (alive but screen is black). Took to apple service center at gardens, KL they refuse to fix my ipad despite I told them I am willing to pay. Send to directd, told me to come back in 3 days time.

I saw CIMB 10% discount only... And white color only??  Msia set no gold or black?
*
Malaysia only white 32GB. That's why I will be waiting until 6 months before buying 64GB black. That way, the price would have reduce further. rclxm9.gif

Can someone do a good review on this phone? How does it compare to RN3
*
Read GSM area, Techradar + other blog site to get a view of it. So far, I have seen that mi5 battery beats RN3 despite RN3 having 4000mah

Yes soon, since the phone is not with me
Thanks! do you face any bug or reboot? Thinking whether the newest 7.3.10 or 7.3.5 is more stable...Seems the newest a lot bug too..

Is there really no bloatware in global rom? because my mi3 started giving ads from notification i suspect "browser"app.

Else I will go for xiaomi.eu rom...
*
Not browser app. Usually some other app will cause ads to appear. Few pages back, people reported that the bloatware can be uninstalled.

How much are you selling?? Got pic or sample?
How to request for it??
*
I wouldn't want to buy casing, SP from malaysia. By buying directly from China, one save rm2-5/item. Throw that in with free shipping and tax free.

I like the China ROM as well, just a couple things... how do you get Google Play store in the China ROM? How to you setup Google account so it syncs the contact like the Global ROM?
*
Can install from mi store or look for Google play store .apk

Battery is the same for both Mi5 & P9, 3000mAh. Both are also dual sim. So the only thing missing is the IR Blaster. What do you use it for?
*
Same battery does not mean same battery life. Take redmi note 3. 4000mah but fares worse than mi5 3000mah battery.

A friend bought the Mi5 few days ago and putting his 2 Maxis line in it. He complains that the call quality and data sped of his Sim 1 is better than Sim 2. Is this normal? Also, he tested with only Sim 1 in it and noticed the battery life is markedly better compared to 2 Sims running. Is this normal?
*
That's normal and have been proven that having 2 sims makes the battery drain faster compare to single sim. Android was not meant for dual sim.

QUOTE(Jason @ Jun 30 2016, 12:39 PM)
Not exaggerating. It really looks good out of camera without any post processing. I'm comparing to iPhone 6S Plus. May not be the epitome of camera phones.

What I noticed is more details in shadows, or darker areas in the photos.
*
So pictures taken by mi5 good or not? hmm.gif Most review said so-so.

Ya... If only they were cheaper... Their UI is quite good...
After that I would give Sony the thumbs up...
To be frank I feel MIUI and Touch Wiz is some years away to make their system more lean...
Cos both of them go their own market and also user profile...
Which makes me lazy to change my company phone theme, cos I prefer dark theme...
Flashing rom? Haha... I lazy dy... Root and flashed a few phones...
But now I have the Nexus, that's why I don care... I always have the latest...

Let's keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't follow Samsung footstep...
*
HTC is a crap phone. Will never buy it again. Less than 2 years, the micro USB port spoil already. The phone keeps thinking it's in a car. That was my Htc desire s.
Hope HTC will just die.

HTC Desire S? How long ago is this phone?
Have you try latest HTC phone?
Don't act like a kiddo fanboi...
My gf used Samsung S3 lag like hell. Open camera app need a ridiculous 7 secs, open contact page need 5 long secs.
Then my mum Xiaomi Mi4 camera got serious overexposed issue. Plug adapter oso have problem after 4 months.
Never ever buy Xiaomi and Samseng phone again in my life. Hope these 2 companies go bankrupt tomolo.
*
Who cares about how long ago the phone? That's was my first android. Second and current phone is xperia zr. I tend to use my phone until they spoil. Sony is a good phone but their camera software is not on par yet.
Is not about being fan boy. I used whichever which gives me best value for money (last long)

Ahh meaning we still need to click on the home button huh, not like iPhone finger sensor.

I want a cheaper price, but reluctant to move from a nexus phone to a MIUI interface... Price is an issue here lol
*
iPhone need to manually wake phone up alao what. sweat.gif
I will tell you otherwise. Switcht to miui. Why?
(i) you get some interesting feature not found in vanila android
(ability to schedule when the phone can ring/on even when the phone is off - extending your Battery life, 3 power saver mode - which you can boost battery life further if you choose power saving)

I have used closed to stock android (cyanogenmod, AOSP) before and never like it. Why?
(i) too plain
(ii) lack of features
(iii) camera program not as good as OEM camera.

Keep in mind your usage may vary with me as I am light user and updates are not important to me.
