If warranty not important to you choose import set. If warranty important to you look for seller that will settle the warranty/take malaysia set. (me personally won't buy malaysia set -too expensive).
You can't change it but you can make it run malaysian = global rom. But xiaomi malaysia won't entertain you if you send for repair even if the phone is running global rom. Check few pages back. There's a tutorial.
