I am a condo owner in Subang area. When I purchased the condo, there was no clause or agreement that mention I cannot rent my condo to African tenant.

Recently, an African student is interested in renting my condo, I was worried in the beginning but when I met the person, I can confirm that he is a very polite and soft spoken person, with genuine interest in doing his Master's degree study here. So I ended up OK with the rental and signed agreement with him.

However, when I inform the building management on this, the lady told me they don't welcome African tenants. I told her this is a screened and good tenant, then she changed her wording and said the building "ban" African tenants. I asked her to show me any legal document on this but she couldn't show anything, but she said if I insist to rent my condo to African tenant, she will ask security guards to block them from entering the building. I actually see there are a few African tenants living in the building too.

I am really disappointed with the racist attitude of this lady from building management, I would like to know if the building management can block my tenants with no legal documents backing them up, or cause trouble with my tenant? and if they do block, how do I go around getting legal help to sort this out? file police report or contact a lawyer?

They can't. What a disgusting racist attitude.

Disruptive tenants and Africans are completely different things. I have many African friends who are kinder, smarter, more generous than these bunch of racist Malaysians.

i think resident committee (RC) can decide whether to allow or not to allow...Building management just maintain the building, unless ur condo is under certain company , not manage by resident committee...

Yes, if the majority in an AGM or EGM voted to African Tenants.

Why would Ts insist on renting his condo to an African? The answer is simple. Because they can pay higher rental compared to locals. Why do they have to offer you higher rental rates? You figure out the answer yourself.

Agree. hard fact: condo A without any african due to ban by RA right next to condo B with african. Condo A value and rental at least 10% higher in long run. Not racist. Just business. I have colleagues and friends who are black. But when it comes to investment. Just follow the numbers. Maybe short term you gain. Long term sure lose. TS ask yourself, 90% of people buy your unit in the future sure uncomfortable with your tenant.

Yes. JMB can do so but all these must came from residents voting or during AGM, by majority. Management only follow the job.

So, TS, pls check with ur condo JMB rather than check the vote here which totally kenot help u.

To pass a by-law, you need 75% votes for a special resolution at AGM or egm...

What's this poll for, we're not part of your residents' committee LOL..

Anyway, this is one of the issue that you have to deal with for non landed property. All of you are effectively occupying on a same piece of land and managed by one JMB. Accept the fact that you cannot please everybody, and final decisions are all dependable on voting process among residents. You think that you're renting out to a good person, but your neighbor might have had a nightmare experience before prior. Who knows? Nobody knows, thus, vote, and majority decides.

Everyone just wanna stay in peace at a place they call home, what for go make police report all those =__=
